Abstract

Kata Kunci : Harga energi, konsumsi energi, energi rumah tangga In this study we estimate the impact of changes in energy prices on household energy consumption, community groups based on household characteristics due to changes in energy prices, and analyze the factors that influence household energy consumption. This study uses a quantitative approach and panel data econometric analysis methods to estimate the demand system. The study used panel data regression analysis techniques. The results can be seen the impact of changes in energy prices on household energy consumption, household energy consumption for fuel and electricity is strongly influenced by the energy price itself and household income. For the elasticity of the two estimated types of energy (fuel and electricity) they have an income (expenditure) elasticity value of less than one (<1) which implies that the two energy goods are normal goods or basic goods. Abstract

Since 2015 the Government of Indonesia has targeted 12.7 hectares land reform through the social forestry program (SFP).This paper traces village SFP beneficiaries and compares them to villages that have forests that did not receive SFP on the three islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi in Indonesia. The empirical analysis used the Instrumental variable method and in-depth interviews. The findings of this study indicate that the existence of SFPs has not had a significant impact on the growth in the number of businesses and deforestation in both protected and production forests zone. The reason due to limited land due to restrictions on post-determination of social forests, the entrepreneurial capacity of forest managers, not yet integrated SFP with village programs, and low capital and utilization of forest product processing technology. Meanwhile, SFPhas not yet had an impact on deforestation because of the low quality of forest management planning and policy interventions related to forest planting in critical land that hasn’tbeen optimal yet.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: Inequality of land ownership is caused by unequal access to land. This study examined the impact of land access on total farmer's household expenditure. The Agrarian reform policy assumed open and expand access to land for groups of landless or near landless farmer households. Through state-led and market-led approaches, this research provided a categorization of access to land in two ways, which are access opening and access expansion variables with each sample coverage. Using the two periods difference-in-difference (DID) method, this study analyzed the impact of opening and expanding access to the total expenditure of farmer households using IFLS 2007 and 2014 data. The results showed that there is a significant difference in the total expenditures of farmer households due to the opening and expansion of access referring to the land distribution scheme (state-led approach), and there is no significant difference through the market-led approach. Therefore, agrarian reform policies need to be carried out by emphasizing the role of the state in implementing land redistribution to landless and small farmers.   Keywords: Agrarian reform, state-led approach, market-led approach, impact of land access, total farmer household expenditure

Abstract

Sustainable agricultural practices are the best solution to resolve widespread degradation of agricultural land in Indonesia. However, application of this practices in Indonesia are still very limited. Many empirical studies show that private agricultural land is an incentive that encourages farmers to apply sustainable agricultural practices. This research aimed to analyze relationship between agricultural land ownership and adoption of sustainable agriculture practices. The main data source used is 2017 Food Crop Cost Structure Survey. OLS and 2SLS methods are applied to estimate impact of agricultural land ownership. Regression results indicate that private land motivates farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

The initial hypothesis states that children from poor household have a tendency to return to poverty as an adult. This is because children from poor household are more difficult to utilize available resources than children from non-poor household. By using McNemar test, the data proved that there was a transmission of poverty in Indonesia during 1993–2014. In other words, poverty alleviation program in Indonesia had not been successfully carried out. Multinomial logit was used to analyzed factors that influence the transmission of poverty. There are various factors that affect the intergenerational transmission of poverty in Indonesia, namely the level of education and health, the ownership of movable assets and the existence of school facilities.

Abstract

Fisheries in Indonesia has a huge potential that if were to be developed adequately will help boost the economic growth. The potential is substantial, however the level of consumption still low compared to other country with lower fisheries potential. To find ways in developing the fisheries sector, this research would like to study the impact of shock of income—through the direct cash transfer—towards the fish consumption level. By understanding this, policymaker would be better equipped on finding the right program to increase its level of consumption in Indonesia. This research is using the quantitative method through the differences-in-differences analysis in finding the impact of income shock towards the fish consumption pattern by seeing the differences before and after the direct cash transfer program were carried out. The data used for this research came from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) wave 3 to 5. In order to increase the validity of the result, this research used the Heckman Selection Model to reduce the potential bias. The result of this research finds that the impact of the direct cash transfer—as an income shock—actually lower the level of fish consumption amounting to Rp 326,25. There are several possibilities as to why this is happening, which are: (1) the elasticity of income for fisheries sector; (2) the status of fish as inferior goods for Indonesian; and (3) huge potential does not translate into a cheaper price for consumption.

Abstract

For indigenous peoples, agriculture is still the basis of their lives. However, for the Kanekes people, agriculture is usually used as a ritual to worship their beliefs, so it becomes local wisdom that is the forerunner to the food security of the Kanekes people. This research aims to determine local wisdom, a determining factor in Urang Kanekes (Baduy) food security, and its contribution to food security in Lebak Regency and Banten Province. Using a mix-method for a qualitative approach to Urang Kanekes' local wisdom, producing the central system of huma rice farming, which is stored in Leuit, is local wisdom that plays a role in food security, and apart from farming, he sells honey, durian, brown sugar, and becomes a tour guide who visits Kanekes. The quantitative approach uses regression with Lebak Regency and provincial-level data. First, panel data regression for 28 subdistricts in Lebak Regency for 12 months from 2020-2021 shows that Leuwidamar Subdistrict, where Urang Kanekes is located, has a higher rice stock than the average for other subdistricts in Lebak Regency, for every month throughout the year. Second, multiple regression was applied to 4 food indices (security, availability, affordability, and usefulness) with data from 8 regencies/cities in Banten Province between 2018-2021. The research results show that local wisdom through farming and storing it in barns is an essential pillar of food availability for a community, in this case, the Urang Kanekes community, where food security at the community level will contribute to subsequent levels up to the national level.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze key factors that contribute to the successful graduation of beneficiary households from the social assistance program PKH (Program Keluarga Harapan) or Family Hope Program, as well as to provide policy recommendations based on research findings related to factors influencing program graduation. Using logistic regression analysis, this research utilizes cross-sectional data from the 2014 Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS). The study reveals that variables associated with the graduation status of PKH beneficiaries include having at least one child attending high school, participation in community empowerment activities, the age and education level of the household head, the number of employed household members, and household size. These findings offer valuable insights for government policymakers in designing social assistance policies that promote the long-term well-being of beneficiaries through more inclusive Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programs. In this regard, PKH social assistance should not only serve as a short-term poverty alleviation measure but also as a long-term and sustainable solution.
