Abstract

The approval of the Creation of Work Act, which was implemented on March 21, 2023 by the DPR RI, has reaped many pro-contracts in the middle of society. This issue is not out of the media highlight. Including Mediaindonesia.com and Tvonenews.com who also massively report the issue. The ownership of the two media is under the auspices of government figures. As well as the framing differences presented by the two media, the reason for the researchers to choose both media as the object of research. In this research, use qualitative descriptive methods with data collection techniques through documentation. Then analyzed using the framing theory of Zhongdang Pan & Gerlad M. Kosicki with his four instruments: syntax, script, thematic, and rhetoric. The results of this research show that Mediaindonesia.com frames the issue of the validation of the Creation of Work Act is the right thing, with all it’s usefulness. While Tvonenews.com frames the issue of the validation of the Labour Creation Act is a bad thing and opposed by the workers and society. Abstract

Sidowayah Village, located in Klaten Regency, Central Java, has significant potential in the tourism sector, particularly through water attractions like Umbul Siblarak. The Covid-19 pandemic that began in 2020 led to a sharp decline in visitor numbers. Bumdes Sinergi Sidowayah responded to this challenge by implementing an Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) strategy in 2023 to increase tourist numbers and strengthen the positive image of Umbul Siblarak. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of IMC implementation by Bumdes in managing Sidowayah Tourism Village. Five key IMC elements, namely advertising, sales promotion, public relations, direct marketing, and personal selling, are examined in depth. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that IMC implementation successfully increased visitor numbers and reinforced Umbul Siblarak’s image as a safe and attractive tourist destination. Abstract

Research Objective: To understand the responses of the people of Surakarta City, who are followers of the social media account X @gibran_tweet, regarding the speed of response to public complaints by the City of Surakarta. Research Methodology: This study is descriptive in nature with qualitative analysis. Data collection was conducted through interviews with followers of the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming's account, @gibran_tweet. Theoretical Framework: This research incorporates several communication and social theories. Positive responses occur when the public's expectations and needs are met through quick and relevant responses, in line with two-way communication theory and uses and gratifications theory. Conversely, negative responses arise when public expectations are not met or the response is perceived as not serious, consistent with expectancy-valence theory and social influence theory. Research Findings: The findings indicate that two-way communication is present, and effective communication occurs when there is reciprocal interaction between the message sender from the @gibran_tweet account and the recipients, who are the followers representing the Surakarta community. Two indicators of response were identified: positive responses emerge when the public's expectations and needs are met through quick and relevant responses, while negative responses arise when expectations are unmet or the response is perceived as not serious. This explains the dynamics of interaction between the Mayor of Surakarta and the people of Surakarta through the social media platform X.

Abstract

After the pandemic, Alternative Universe (AU) fiction has become a new trend among Generation Z. The @kyuniverce account is one of the Alternative Universe writers who often interacts with their readers. This research aims to find out the communication patterns of Alternative Universe “Triple A” writers and readers. The theory used is the theory of mass communication by McQuail. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling technique. To analyze the communication patterns used, researchers presented 6 informants where 1 person was a writer and 5 people were readers. The results of this study indicate the existence of two communication patterns on the @kyuniverce account, namely circular communication patterns, where there must be feedback to each other, as well as broker communication patterns, where the recipient of the message can choose to continue the message or not. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategy implemented by RRI Pro 2 Surakarta in the context of broadcasting in the digital era. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this study identifies the steps of the communication strategy which include determining the audience, setting goals, formulating messages, selecting methods, and selecting media. In addition, this study also reveals the communication techniques used, such as canalizing, informative, and persuasive. The results of the study indicate that RRI Pro 2 Surakarta faces several obstacles in the process of delivering information and physical obstacles that affect the effectiveness of communication. Abstract

This study aims to disseminate political communication implemented by millennial legislative candidates (caleg) in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) campaign in Sragen Regency. Given the large contribution of the millennial generation in the election, which covers around 33% of the total votes (Lemhannas RI, 2024), this study highlights the importance of an effective political communication strategy to attract the attention of young voters. This study uses a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method with three millennial legislative candidates, Nugroho Sulistyo, Bakti Ida Hutami, and Ria Cerryana Rahmawati, as well as first-time voters who represent support for each legislative candidate. The results of the study show that social media plays a very important role in shaping the political views of millennial voters, with platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp used by legislative candidates to convey their political messages. Issues such as education, economic welfare, and infrastructure development are the main focus of their campaigns, which are relevant to the daily lives of young voters. Overall, this study found that effective political communication through social media, as well as communicating messages that are in line with the issues faced by young voters, are important factors in winning support in the 2024 Election. Abstract

An act can be said to be murder because the act results in the loss of someone's life by anyone intentionally. The murder case of Vina in Cirebon, West Java is one example of a murder case that went viral in 2024. This case occurred in 2016, but through the release of the film Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari, this case resurfaced in 2024. After the release of the film, the Vina murder case received attention from various online news portals, including Republika.co.id which is one of the best online news portals in Indonesia. The framing from Republika.co.id becomes interesting if analyzed in more depth, considering that in the process of this case there are still many pros and cons in society. Therefore, this study aims to determine the framing related to the news of the murder of Vina by a motorcycle gang in Cirebon, West Java. This study uses a qualitative method and is analyzed using the framing analysis theory of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki with four analysis tools (Syntax, Script, Thematic, and Rhetoric). The conclusion of this study shows how Republika.co.id frames the Vina murder case by siding with the victim and Vina's family, and emphasizes the negative image of the police as an institutional figure who often commits injustice in the legal process. This is further confirmed by the way Republika.co.id media highlights the flaws in the legal process in Indonesia. Keywords: Framing Analysis, Republika.co.id, Vina, Murder
