Abstract

The rapid development of culture, science, and technology has an impact on children's behavior in social life. The behavior of children in this development is by the norms and some are not by the norms. Behavior that is not in accordance with the norm will cause problems in the field of law and harm the community. So it is necessary to punish children who are regulated separately in the Juvenile Criminal Justice System with more emphasis on improving the child of the perpetrator of a crime with the aim of not merely imposing a crime but also using certain actions (maatzegel) and not punitive but for the improvement of the child. Implementing the court decisions in the form of actions such as returning children in conflict with the law to their parents, has not been carried out properly because there are still obstacles faced by the Prosecutor and Community Advisors in supervising and guiding children who are returned to their parents. Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Aswaja (Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah) values in the daily life of the Trimulyo village community. Trimulyo is a predominantly Muslim village whose residents have long embraced Aswaja teachings as a foundation for both social and religious life. Employing a qualitative field research approach with a case study method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that Aswaja values are practiced in tangible ways across various aspects of community life. Socially, the community upholds the principles of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), solidarity, and interfaith as well as interethnic tolerance. Religiously, residents regularly perform congregational prayers and actively participate in religious assemblies such as yasinan and sholawatan, which reinforce a moderate understanding of Islam. This study contributes to the discourse on how moderate Islamic teachings can be contextualized within rural communities to foster social harmony and religious coexistence.

Abstract

Qur'anic reading ability is a fundamental competency in Islamic education, encompassing reading fluency, accuracy of makharijul huruf, and the application of tajwid rules. The Qiroati method, as a systematic and sequential approach to Qur'anic reading instruction, has been widely implemented across Islamic educational institutions not only in Indonesia but also in Southeast Asian countries including Thailand. This study aims to describe and compare students' Qur'anic reading ability at Solihuddin School Songkhla, Southern Thailand and SMPIT At-Taufiq Bogor, Indonesia through the implementation of the Qiroati method. A qualitative approach with a comparative study method was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with school principals, Qiroati teachers, and students at both schools, as well as documentation studies. Data credibility was established through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal similarities between the two schools, namely gradual improvement in Qur'anic reading ability, the development of Qur'anic reading habits, and high student learning motivation. Differences were found in the level of students' Qur'anic reading ability, where SMPIT At-Taufiq Bogor students demonstrated better and more evenly distributed reading skills compared to Solihuddin School students. These differences are influenced by the continuity of Qiroati implementation from primary education level, students' prior ability, and Qur'anic habituation programs at each school. It is recommended that Islamic educational institutions implement the Qiroati method sequentially from an early age and integrate Qur'anic habituation programs as a support for learning.
