Abstract

Stunting in toddlers occurs due to lack of nutritional intake in the long term, thus sacrificing linear growth. To meet the nutritional needs of toddlers who are growing rapidly, adequate protein intake is needed. Not all families can meet protein needs every time for daily consumption three times a day. This happens because apart from being an expensive source of protein, it also requires a storage area so that the food is not damaged. The purpose of this service is to introduce and teach the practice of making simple technology for cultivating catfish (Clarias spp.) and cultivating kangkong (Ipomoea aquatica) with an aquaponic system (by planting them in a medium bucket). Parents of toddlers learn how to do aquaponics and also provide a source of nutrition for toddlers at the household level. The results of this service indicate that there is an increase in the knowledge and skills of parents on how to make aquaponics; as well as the availability of food sources of protein and vegetables that are sufficient at any time needed for consumption by stunting toddlers.

Abstract

The research describes how molecular networking was used as a screening tool to prioritize the isolation workflow of 40 macroalgae sampled from West Timor waters, Indonesia, in addition to a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance-based (NMR) spectroscopy strategy. A mass spectrometry (MS) was employed to generate spectra that later be used as data to produce the molecular network with the Global Natural Product Social Molecular Networking (GNPS) website. The screening process used the molecular network, which assisted in the selection of six samples of macroalgae out of the 40 samples for further examination. Lastly, an NMR-based protocol was employed to choose the samples of interest to be investigated further. Six samples were shortlisted from the GNPS molecular network based on specimens, which were then validated with 1H NMR spectroscopy to finally prioritized three samples.

Abstract

One of the carrageenan-producing seaweed is Kappaphycus alvarezii which grows in the waters of NTT. The purpose of this study was to determine the carrageenan content and growth depth of K. alvarezii seaweed. From October 25, 2022 to December 15, 2022, research was conducted for 45 days in the waters of Tablolong, West Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The longline approach was used to grow K. alvarezii seaweed. This method has three treatments and three replicates with treatment I 10 m apart, treatment II 20 m apart, and treatment III 30 m apart. Data on daily growth, absolute growth, carrageenan content, and water quality obtained from the results were then analyzed using ANOVA and added into graphs. The findings showed that the growth and carrageenan content of seaweeds in the sea around Tablolong Village were affected by different depths. K. alvarezii seaweed has the largest absolute growth in treatment C, which is 156 g, while treatment A has the lowest growth value, which is 135g. Treatment C also has the highest carrageenan content of 92.9%, while treatment A has the lowest carrageenan content of 67.7%. The results of this study indicate that the growth and carrageenan content of K. alvarezii seaweed is influenced by water depth. Keywords: Kappaphycuz alvarezii, carrageenan, depth and growth

Abstract

Caulerpa sp., a macroalgae from the Chlorophyceae class, represents a significant marine biological resource. In order to meet increasing market demands, sea grape cultivation has expanded through various methods, aiming to ensure production is not reliant on natural conditions. This study explores alternative cultivation by using container boxes and nutrient manipulation via fertilization to enhance the growth and production of Caulerpa sp. Specifically, the research examines the impact of different Bali Organiculture Guano liquid organic fertilizer dosages on Caulerpa sp. growth, identifying the optimal dosage for maximum growth. A completely randomized design with four treatments (A: control, B: 0.22 ml/l, C: 0.28 ml/l, D: 0.34 ml/l) and three replications were employed. Growth metrics were analyzed using ANOVA and post-hoc tests (BNT). Results indicated significant effects of fertilizer application on daily growth (A=1±0.00a, B=1±0.33b, C=2±0.00c, D=2±0.00d), absolute growth (A=38±0.88a, B=72±2.31b, C=85±2.65c, D=104±2.52d), Caulerpa length (A=1.2±0.03a, B=2.4±0.32b, C=3.0±0.07c, D=3.5±0.09c), and number of ramuli (A=22.4±0.21a, B=35.0±1.26b, C=43.0±4.31b, D=65.3±4.13c). The findings confirm that Bali Organiculture Guano liquid organic fertilizer significantly enhances the growth rate, absolute weight, length, and ramuli number of Caulerpa sp. in cultivation media. Abstract

Kata Kunci: Bahan alam laut, Biokimia diversitas, Makroalga Abstract – The potential of Indonesia's marine resources is very vast, supported by biological and chemical diversity (biochemo-diversity), for the discoverying of various natural materials that can be used as a source of pharmaceutical, nutritional, and other industrial raw materials. This review will describe the history of marine natural materials, followed by a description of Indonesia's biological and chemical richness of marine organisms, and ends with a description of the status and potential of Indonesian macroalgae natural products. There are already at least six natural products that have been commercially used as antiviral, anti-cancer, and anti-HIV. Since the early 90s, there have been several Indonesian marine natural materials derived from organisms such as sponges, marine invertebrates, and fungi. Marine macroalgae still have further potential because exploration is still limited to the intertidal zone. Keywords: Biochemo diversity, Macroalgae, Marine natural products
