Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how teachers communicate with students at SMA Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan during Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This kind of research combines a literature study methodology with a qualitative approach. Quotations for data sources are taken from reliable websites like SINTA and Google Scholar. Data triangulation was then used to examine and validate the data. The study's findings indicate that, first, there needs to be communication between PAI teachers and deputy principals in the field of curriculum development, particularly when it comes to carrying out lesson plans, syllabi, and follow-up student assessments. Secondly, when PAI teachers communicate about PAI material, they truly take into account the students' backgrounds, abilities, and the fundamental skills that all teachers should possess, such as the ability to explain complex material in a way that students can easily understand and accept.

Abstract

The decline in citizenship attitudes among elementary school students is a significant concern requiring urgent attention. Citizenship attitudes, encompassing consciousness, responsibility, participation, and loyalty as Indonesian citizens, are crucial in molding individuals who contribute positively to national life. Recent incidents of bullying, violence, and intolerance in elementary schools across Indonesia highlight a disturbing trend, emphasizing the urgent need for action. Bullying incidents, particularly in Mandailing Natal District, persist due to factors like seniority culture and lack of empathy, exacerbating students' vulnerability. To address this decline, civil society's role is essential, yet its full potential remains untapped due to various constraints. Understanding this background is crucial for effective intervention design. Civil society can reinforce citizenship attitudes, advocate social righteousness, and enhance national integration, emphasizing values like legal awareness, social responsibility, and tolerance. Child-friendly school environments and active participation in civil society programs can empower students and foster inclusive communities. Strengthening citizenship attitudes requires curriculum integration, extracurricular activities, and teacher training to enhance students' awareness and critical thinking. Collaborative efforts involving schools, teachers, students, and the local community are vital, along with investment in resources and partnerships. By reinforcing citizenship attitudes, we can cultivate individuals committed to democracy, tolerance, and social responsibility, fostering a harmonious and inclusive society.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the initial understanding of elementary school (MI) students regarding the concept of population and the Indonesian government system, and to assess the effect of using contextual learning media in improving this understanding. The main issues raised are how MI students understand these abstract concepts and the extent to which contextual media can help facilitate deeper understanding. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study design, involving observation, interviews, and documentation in several MIs in Kendari City. The research informants consisted of students, teachers, and principals. The results of the study indicate that although students have basic knowledge about the population and the Indonesian government system, their understanding is still limited to factual and theoretical aspects. The use of contextual media that is relevant to students' daily lives can improve their understanding, making these concepts easier to understand and accept. As a result, contextual media has been shown to increase student engagement in learning and help them relate the material to their social lives, introducing citizenship values more effectively. This study suggests the use of more diverse media and further research with larger samples to deepen understanding of the implementation of contextual learning in elementary school.
