Abstract

Forest fires occurred in Mount Ciremai National Park (TNGC) area during the period from 2011 to 2022. These fires led to secondary succession, altering the composition and structure of the forest stands. This research aims to analyze the floristic composition and vegetation structure of the mountain forest post-fire. Data collection was conducted through vegetation analysis in two land cover types: primary forest and post-fire 2019 forest. The research shows a difference in the number of tree species found in the post-fire forest, and the number of plant species were recorded in sampling plots are totally 90 species of the 43 families. The ground cover plant was dominated by the species Orthosiphon aristatus, while the seedling and sapling stages were dominated by Cinchona calisaya, the pole stage was dominated by Oreocnide rubescens, and the tree stage was dominated by Macaranga tanarius. The plant diversity of the primary forest was relatively higher and the composition of tree stage in the primary forest and the post-fire 2019 forest were close to similar. The horizontal structure of the forest stands showed an inverted J-shaped curve, while the understory trees dominated the vertical structure. Abstract

Tarsius fuscus is one of the conservation priority wildlife in the Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park (Babul National Park). This study aims to analyze the population and habitat characteristics of T. fuscus as one of the considerations in the conservation management of its population and habitat. This research was carried out in July 2021 in the forest around Bentenge Village and Samaenre Village, Resort Mallawa, Babul National Park. The method used was direct observation, calculation of the number of individuals for each group, and vegetation analysis at the meeting points of T. fuscus. Based on observations, the population size of 48 individuals from 13 groups was obtained with an overall population density of 0.109 individuals/Ha. The population density in the secondary dryland forest is higher than in the scrubland. The number of juvenile and infant in both land cover were low compared to the adults. T. fuscus was found in two types of habitat, there are secondary dryland forests (SDF) and scrubland with specific ranges of physical parameters. Based on vegetation analysis, SDF was dominated by the mana-mana tree (Blumeodendron kurzii) with an important value index (IVI) of 57.72%, while shrubland was dominated by kemiri tree (Aleurites moluccana) with an IVI of 40.75%. The two land covers are dominated by the Moraceae family and jambu air seedlings (Syzygium aqueum).

Abstract

Tarsius fuscus merupakan salah satu primata terkecil di dunia endemik Sulawesi Selatan. T. fuscus sebagai satwa liar cenderung memilih sarang pada lokasi dengan kriteria tertentu. Sarang memiliki peran penting pada habitat satwa liar yang berkaitan dengan anti-predator, tempat tidur, dan reproduksi. Penelitian mengenai preferensi sarang T. fuscus sangat penting dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis pemilihan sarang T. fuscus dan faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Resort Mallawa, Taman Nasional Bantimurung Bulusaraung, Sulawesi Selatan pada bulan Juli hingga Agustus 2021. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi langsung ke titik bersarang T. fuscus. Data biotik dan abiotik dicatat pada setiap lokasi perjumpaan baik secara langsung maupun melalui bantuan analisis GIS. Preferensi sarang T. fuscus ditentukan dengan perhitungan PCA dan indeks Neu. Terdapat 7 parameter yang mempengaruhi preferensi sarang T. fuscus yaitu tutupan lahan, substrat sarang, tinggi sarang dari tanah, jarak dari pemukiman, kelerengan, ketinggian, dan jarak dari sungai.
