Abstract

Language learning activities are carried out by language educators so that students acquire appropriate language skills after engaging in a learning experience. The nature of English language learning in the Olat Maras Community Academy Heavy Equipment Engineering Study Program is not only focused on delivering the material contained in the semester learning plan but also paying attention to creative aspects, student enthusiasm, and paying attention to the needs of students humanely and democratically. The lack of learning experience for students in general is not only triggered by the difficulty of the content of the subject matter that cannot be understood by students, but also driven by the teaching approach to a learning activity that creates little learning experience for students during learning. The type of research used is qualitative. The instrument of this research is observation and direct interview. Data analysis techniques consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of data analysis show that creating a learning atmosphere full of student activity must involve cognitive, affective, and psychographic students, such as inviting students to listen, practice, argue, and use learning media sourced from students' own ideas in following their study program.

Abstract

Background. Lecturer development is one of the right strategies in improving the quality of higher education. Purpose. However, evaluating the effectiveness of lecturer development programs is still an important concern in the context of higher education management to ensure their success and relevance. Method. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of lecturer development programs in the context of higher education management, with a focus on achieving goals, participant satisfaction, and its impact on lecturer performance. A mixed approach was used in this research, with a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. Data was collected through surveys with lecturers participating in the development program and in-depth interviews with development staff and related lecturers.   Results. The results of the analysis show that the majority of lecturers participating in the development program felt that the program was effective in improving their competence. However, there was variation in levels of satisfaction and perceived effectiveness between participants. Additionally, the impact of development programs on lecturer performance also varies, with some lecturers reporting significant improvements while others do not. Thorough evaluation of faculty development programs is critical to ensuring effective investment in higher education resources. Although most lecturers found the program useful, there were challenges in maintaining the program's consistency and relevance. Conclusion. Therefore, continuous improvement in the design, implementation and evaluation of lecturer development programs is needed to support continuous improvement in the quality of higher education. Hopefully this research can become a reference for future researchers in conducting research related to this field of research.

Abstract

The global pandemic has pushed educational communities around the world to look for innovative solutions to make distance learning effective. One of the emerging solutions is to use Virtual Clashroom, a concept that combines cutting-edge video conferencing technology with student-focused interactions. This research discusses the application of Virtual Clashroom as a solution to connect teachers and students online in distance education. Virtual Clashroom provides an interactive platform that allows teachers to teach in a more interesting and interesting way. With features like digital whiteboards, screen sharing, and interactive chat, teachers can facilitate active and collaborative learning. Students can ask questions, participate in discussions, and collaborate with other students in a safe virtual environment. This research also evaluates the effectiveness of Virtual Clashroom in increasing student engagement, subject understanding, and teacher-student interactions. The results show that Virtual Clashroom can create a more interesting and effective distance learning experience than conventional methods. Students reported high levels of satisfaction in using the platform, while teachers felt they could teach more effectively in a virtual environment. The Virtual Clashroom application opens up new opportunities in the world of education, especially during emergency situations such as a pandemic. By utilizing this technology, distance learning can become more interactive, inclusive and effective. This study provides valuable information about how Virtual Clashroom can be the right solution to improve the quality of education in the future. The method used in this research is a quantitative method. Researchers conducted a survey using a Google form consisting of 15 statements related to the title of the research. The limitation of this research is that the researcher only conducted research in schools and the researcher did not conduct research directly in schools but shared a survey link on a Google form containing a statement about Implementing Virtual Clashroom: Connecting Teachers and Students Online for Effective Distance Learning.
