Abstract

Literary works are an experience that can be learned from and provide lessons for reflection to readers. The novel is a type of fictional literary work that cannot be missed, which is currently developing rapidly in Indonesia. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive research method. This research will analyze the character values found in the main characters in the novel Re: dan peREmpuan by Maman Suherman. This research is very interesting because through studying literature, new learning and thinking can be gained. Researchers found 74 data showing the character values of the main characters in the novel Re: dan peREmpuan by Maman Suherman. The eighteenth character values according to the Ministry of Education and Culture in the main character Rere by Maman Suherman, first religious, found 5 quotes, second curiosity found 6 quotes, third honest, found 6 quotes, fourth independent found 2 quotes, fifth friendly found 5 quotes, sixth caring environment found 2 quotes, seventh tolerance found 4 quotes, eighth discipline found 3 quotes, ninth creative thinking found 4 quotes, tenth responsibility found 6 quotes, eleventh social care found 3 quotes, twelfth democratic found 5 quotes, thirteenth hard work found 4 quotes, the fourteenth found 4 quotes about national spirit, the fifteenth likes reading 3 quotes were found, the sixteenth appreciated achievements found 4 quotes, the seventeenth love of the homeland found 3 quotes and the eighteenth love of peace found 5 quotes in the novel.

Abstract

The advancement of globalization in today's society has had a negative impact on the manners and ethics of students. As a result, education plays a crucial role in shaping the character of students, particularly in terms of moral values. This study aims to examine the moral values depicted in the novel "Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra" by Habiburrahman El-Shirazy and explore its potential as a learning resource in novel-based education. The research adopts a qualitative approach, focusing on the moral values portrayed in the novel. Data collection involves reading and writing methods. The findings reveal that the novel "Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra" encompasses three main moral values: 1) individual morals, which pertain to one's relationship with oneself, 2) social morals, which involve interactions with others, and 3) religious morals, which encompass one's relationship with God. These three categories are further divided into 19 specific moral values, including honesty, never give up, sincerity, responsibility, firm stance, hard work, mutual love, parental concern for their children, parental obligations, children's affection for parents, helping, respecting each other, willing to sacrifice, respecting each other, advising, not imposing the will of others, always grateful, surrendering and praying, resulting in a total of 41 moral values. The outcomes of this study can be utilized as a valuable resource for teaching Indonesian language in the twelfth grade of high school, specifically in the context of Basic Competence (KD) 3.9, which focuses on analyzing the content and language of novels.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai karakter dalam novel Kembara Rindu Karya Habiburrahman El-Shirazy yang diterbitkan oleh Republik Penerbit tahun 2019 dan pemanfaatan sebagai bahan ajar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskripstif kualitatif. Sumber penelitian atau data primer yaitu novel Kembara Rindu. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu dengan menggunakan Teknik baca, catat, dan dokumentasi atau kajian kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel Kembara Rindu memiliki nilai karakter, sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan ajar sastra Indonesia di SMA. Terdapat empat (4) jenis nilai karakter yang di dalamnya memiliki turunan nilai karakter diantaranya 1) jujur nilai turunannya yaitu jujur, tanggung jawab, dan religius. 2) cerdas nilai turunannya yaitu nilai karakter kreatif. 3) peduli nilai turunannya meliputi peduli sosial, peduli lingkungan, dan demokrasi. 4) tangguh nilai turunannya yaitu kerja keras. Dari hasil analisis nilai karakter yang terdapat di dalam novel Kembara Rindu dapat diimplementasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari selain itu dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan ajar pembelajaran di Sekolah.   Kata kunci : Nilai Karakter, Novel, dan Bahan ajar

Abstract

Indonesia is known for its beauty and for being a friendly and ethical country. However, today negative events such as student riots, intimidation, corruption, theft, drugs, promiscuous sex, sexual harassment, murder, mutilation cases, and similar events are spreading in the country. Therefore, the author is very interested in providing examples of moral values found in the novel Orang Orang Biasa by Andrea Hirata as reference material for students so that they can broaden their horizons about the morals they should have. This research uses a qualitative approach to analyze the moral values contained in the novel Orang orang Biasa written by Andrea Hirata. Data was collected through a literature study that involved reading and recording relevant information. The results showed that there are three categories of moral values in this novel, namely: 1) individual interaction with himself, 2) individual interaction with the surrounding society, and 3) individual interaction with spiritual aspects. The three moral categories are detailed into 19 moral values, including: (1) self-existence, (2) self-confidence, (3) self-esteem, (4) death, (5) longing, (6) revenge, (7) loneliness, (8) vacillation, (9) perseverance, (10) love for children, (11) affection for parents, (12) affection for others, (13) friendship, (14) loyalty, (15) betrayal, (16) helping, (17) worship, (18) gratitude, and (19) accepting fate. This research produces information that can be utilized in the preparation of Indonesian language learning modules for grade XII students in SMA / SMK on KD 3.9, which is related to understanding the content and use of language in novels.

Abstract

In this era of increasingly rapid development, the influence of social media extends to the educational progress of students, particularly at the high school and equivalent stages. From the start, some of their morals became increasingly declining. Therefore, the author is very interested in providing examples of moral values that have been found in the novel “Hello” Karva Tere Live as reference material for students so they can get a view of what morals they should have. The study utilises a qualitative approach to examine the moral values portrayed in the novel “Hello” by Tere Liye. Data gathering involves using the library method, which includes reading and note-taking. The findings of the study identify four different aspects of moral values depicted in the novel “Hello” by Tere Liye: 1) Connection between individuals 2) Interaction between individuals and God 3) Connection between individuals and others 4) Connection between individuals and the surrounding nature. The four moral values are broken down into 18 (eighteen) moral values as follows: 1) expressing care for others 2) helping others in a mutually beneficial manner 3) negotiating to reach an agreement 4) living in harmony 5) courtesy 6) respect for others 7) keeping promises 8) gratitude 9) problem solver 10) responsibility 11) humility 12) confidence 13) honesty 14) patience 15) patience 16) hardworking 17) reducing waste 18) improving the environment. This research contributes to the preparation of Indonesian language learning modules for XII grade SMA / SMK students who are studying content analysis and novel language.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of using the Picture and Picture teaching method on the writing skills of eighth-grade students at SMP NU Kaplongan during the 2023/2024 academic year. This study employed an experimental design with two groups: an experimental class that used the Picture and Picture model and a control class that did not. The research subjects consisted of 35 students from class VIII E (experimental class) and 35 students from class VIII F (control class). Data were collected through a writing test that measured the ability to write explanatory texts based on four assessment aspects: theme, general statement, cause-and-effect sequence, and interpretation. The results showed that the mean score of the experimental class (81.24) was significantly higher than that of the control class (68.45). This indicates that the application of the Picture and Picture model can improve students' explanatory text writing skills. Additionally, the highest-performing assessment aspect was theme (96.36), while the interpretation aspect had the lowest average score (67.87). Based on the findings, it is recommended that school principals encourage Indonesian language teachers to adopt the Picture and Picture method as an alternative approach to teaching explanatory text writing. Furthermore, future research should explore other aspects of writing instruction using this method.

Abstract

The low level of ability of students at SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg in the 2023/2024 academic year in learning to write explanatory texts and the limitations of teachers in varying innovative and effective learning methods to improve students' skills in producing explanatory texts are the background for the author in conducting this research. The effort made by the researcher is to apply the role-playing learning method in learning to write explanatory texts. This study aims to: 1) determine whether the application of the role-playing method in learning to write explanatory texts for grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg in the 2023/2024 academic year is effective and 2) describe how the learning activities of writing explanatory texts in the application of the role-playing method. This study used an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was all grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg in the 2023/2024 academic year. Sampling using non-probability sampling technique with purposive sampling method was determined class XI MIPA 4 as the experimental class with 36 students and XI MIPA 5 as the control class with 36 students. Research data were collected through written tests and observation sheets. Based on the results of statistical calculations using two independent t-tests (independent simple t-test), the calculated t was 3.672 and the t table was 1.994. So t count (3.672) > t table (1.994), this indicates that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, the author concludes that the application of the role playing method in learning to write explanatory texts for class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg in the 2023/2024 academic year is effective. Based on the analysis of observation results, it is proven that the application of the role playing method can increase student activeness in the learning process of writing explanatory texts for class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg in the 2023/2024 academic year. ABSTRAKRendahnya tingkat kemampuan siswa SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024 dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi serta keterbatasan guru dalam mevariasikan metode pembelajaran yang inovatif dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam memproduksi teks eksplanasi melatarbelakangi penulis dalam melakukan penelitian ini. Upaya yang dilakukan peneliti yaitu dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran role playing dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui apakah penerapan metode role playing dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi pada siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024 efektif dan 2) mendeskripsikan bagaimana aktivitas pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi dalam penerapan metode role playing. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalen control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik non probability sampling dengan metode purposive sampling ditetapkan kelas XI MIPA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah 36 siswa dan XI MIPA 5 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan jumlah 36 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui tes tulis dan lembar observasi. Berdasarkan hasil penghitungan statistik dengan menggunakan uji t dua independen (independen simple t test), diperoleh thitung sebesar 3,672 dan ttabel sebesar 1,994. Jadi thitung (3,672) > ttabel (1,994), hal ini menunjukan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dengan demikian, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode role playing dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi pada siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024 efektif. Berdasarkan analisis hasil observasi, terbukti bahwa penerapan metode role playing dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi pada siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Sliyeg Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024.
