Abstract

The Foot and Ankle Outcomes Questionnaire (FAOQ) assesses disability in the foot and ankle across five areas: pain, symptoms, daily activities, sports and leisure, and quality of life. This study, conducted in 2020, aimed to validate the FAOQ for measuring flat foot in 12-year-old children. Nineteen children with flat feet from Al Abidin Islamic Middle School in Banyuanyar, Surakarta, participated, selected through purposive sampling and Clark's Angle footprint analysis. Each participant provided written consent. The study utilized the FAOQ and Clark's Angle footprint analysis to test the validity of the Indonesian FAOQ version using the Pearson Product Moment. Out of 25 questions, 16 were found invalid and 9 valid. With a table value of 0.482 and a margin of error of 0.05, the FAOQ is deemed valid if the table value exceeds the calculated value. Thus, the Indonesian FAOQ version is invalid for assessing flat foot in 12-year-old children.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender based on footprints from various ethnicities in the World. The method used is a literature study with data sources from various studies by identifying PICO (Population/Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). For Population: ethnicity in the world, Intervention: -, Comparison or comparison: footprint measurement, and Outcome or result: gender determination. Data collection was done by downloading literature from three search engines, namely Google Scholar, Sciencedirect, and PubMed. The results of this study show that anthropometric foot measurements can be effectively used to determine sex, with various studies showing significant sexual dimorphism in foot size between men and women. On average, men have greater foot length and width than women, which can be utilized for sex estimation with a high degree of accuracy. The diverse measurement methodologies, such as length, width and foot index measurements, reflect flexibility in adaptation based on different population contexts. This study also shows the importance of considering cultural and ethnic factors in anthropometric analysis, which can affect measurement results. The findings have practical applications in a variety of fields, including forensics and product design, and confirm that footprint dimensions can be a strong indicator of gender differentiation.

Abstract

Background: Non-Specific Low Back Pain is a musculoskeletal disorder caused by abnormalities or dysfunctions in musculoskeletal structures without any neurological involvement. This condition is most commonly found in workplaces, especially among individuals who perform activities with incorrect body posture. Non-specific LBP may result from muscle strain or lack of spinal movement, which leads to weakened or tense back muscles. Methods: This study aims to determine the physiotherapy management using a combination of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and William Flexion Exercises in reducing pain and improving mobility in patients with non-specific low back pain. The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach with a case study design. TENS was applied to the lumbar area for 15–20 minutes using conventional frequency, combined with progressively performed William Flexion Exercises over a period of two weeks. Pain was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and functional ability was evaluated using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI).Results: The results showed a significant reduction in pain levels based on VAS scores and an improvement in functional ability as indicated by ODI scores after the combined therapy. Conclusion: The combination of TENS and William Flexion Exercises is effective in reducing pain and improving function in patients with Non-Specific Low Back Pain.
