Abstract

The Foot and Ankle Outcomes Questionnaire (FAOQ) assesses disability in the foot and ankle across five areas: pain, symptoms, daily activities, sports and leisure, and quality of life. This study, conducted in 2020, aimed to validate the FAOQ for measuring flat foot in 12-year-old children. Nineteen children with flat feet from Al Abidin Islamic Middle School in Banyuanyar, Surakarta, participated, selected through purposive sampling and Clark's Angle footprint analysis. Each participant provided written consent. The study utilized the FAOQ and Clark's Angle footprint analysis to test the validity of the Indonesian FAOQ version using the Pearson Product Moment. Out of 25 questions, 16 were found invalid and 9 valid. With a table value of 0.482 and a margin of error of 0.05, the FAOQ is deemed valid if the table value exceeds the calculated value. Thus, the Indonesian FAOQ version is invalid for assessing flat foot in 12-year-old children.

Abstract

Background: The aging process causes a decline in musculoskeletal function, one of which is decreased muscle strength, which impacts balance and independence in older adults. Balance training is one physical intervention that can improve muscle strength in older adults. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of balance exercise on muscle strength in older adults at the UPT Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Glenmore. Methods: This study used a questionnaire-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of 30 elderly people selected by total sampling. Muscle strength was measured using the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) instrument before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Before the intervention, most elderly people had mild muscle strength (76.7%). After the balance exercise intervention, the majority of elderly people experienced an increase in muscle strength to the normal category (73.3%). The Wilcoxon test results showed a P-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of balance exercise on muscle strength in elderly people. Conclusion: Balance exercise significantly improves muscle strength in older adults. This intervention can be implemented as a routine exercise program to improve physical function and quality of life in older adults.

Abstract

Background: Lifting your head and rolling ability are the first motorbike abilities for babies. If not, the prone period takes a long time. This period is important in subsequent development. As for one form of stimulation to improve motor skills to lift the baby's head is by tummy time exercise. Objective: To determine the effect of tummy time exercise on increasing motor ability to lift the head in children aged 0-16 weeks. Research Method: This type of research design is a quasi experiment with non-randomized two groups approach method pre-test and post-test design. Subjects were divided into two groups, treatment groups were given tummy time exercise, while the control group was not given tummy time exercise. Measurement of pretest and posttest using a stopwatch. Test for normality using the Shapiro Wilk Test, test the effect of using Paired Sample t-Test, different test effects using the Independent Sample t-Test. Results of the study: The results of statistical tests were obtained to determine the effect of tummy time exercise using Paired Sample T-Test on the age group 0-4 weeks obtained p value was p <0.05 (p = 0.003) and t count = -18.860 and t table = 12 , 70620 then t count> t table. So there is a significant effect of tummy time exercise on increasing motor ability to lift the head based on the length of the head lift. Conclusion: There is an effect of tummy time exercise on increasing motor ability to lift the head in children aged 0-16 weeks.

Abstract

Background: Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive disorder that occurs due to damage to the immature brain and can cause neurological disorders, both motor and sensory system disorders. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of hydrotherapy in improving the ability of children with flaccid cerebral palsy. Results: After 4x therapy for gmfm the results have increased from T0-T1, for muscle strength after doing it for 4x from t0-t4 it has increased and the ability to balance standing and walking has increased. Conclusion: Hydrotherapy can improve the ability to balance standing and walking and can improve functional abilities in children with cerebral palsy.

Abstract

Spina bifida or neural tube defect (NTD) is a spinal disorder that does not close completely, resulting in disability or developmental failure of the spinal cord. The cause of spina bifida has no definite reason, but there are several factors that are considered to increase the risk, namely folic acid deficiency, family history of spina bifida, and history of taking drugs. Patients with spina bifida will experience weakness in the lower extremity muscles, decreased ability to control urination, and decreased ability to carry out daily activities. The study used a case report study conducted at YPAC Surakarta for boys aged 15 years with spina bifida disorder. Physiotherapy plays a role in optimizing muscle strength, active movement of children, and improving functional abilities by using interventional stretching exercises, myofacial release, strengthening exercises, and a combination of Kegel Exercises and bridging exercises. After being treated for 6 times T1-T6 there was an increase in muscle strength as measured by manual muscle testing (MMT), changes in the range of motion of the joints (LGS) as measured by the goniometer, an increase in functional ability as measured by the Barthel Index.

Abstract

Background: Acute respiratory tract infection is one of the respiratory disorders that children in Indonesia often suffer. Acute respiratory tract infection is the infection that most often causes death and disease worldwide. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health education about chest physiotherapy in the treatment of acute respiratory tract infections in toddlers on the level of maternal knowledge at Early Childhood Education Darusallam Kalibaru. Methods: This quantitative study uses a pre-experimental approach with a one-group pre-post test design. The sampling technique employed is total sampling, with a sample size of 50 respondents. The instrument used for data collection is a questionnaire, and the data analysis is performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The results showed that maternal knowledge was less than 30 (60%) after being given health education. The level of maternal knowledge was good at 31 (62%). The Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value of 0.000<0.05, so there was a significant influence on the level of maternal knowledge before and after the provision of safety education. Conclusion: This study is expected to be informative for mothers as one of the techniques for handling acute respiratory tract infections in toddlers. Future research should assess the long-term impact of health education on chest physiotherapy in managing acute respiratory infections in toddlers.
