Abstract

The author's background in conducting this research is that there are several problems that befell the Indonesian people in the name of religion, especially Islam. Such as cases of violence, extremism in religious radicalism, terrorism which are getting more complicated day by day. Even though the Qur'an explains how to act in the middle and not be too excessive in various aspects of life. A middle or moderate attitude in religion is described in the Qur'an either with the term ummatan wasatan (wasathiyyah) or with the term ummatan muqtasid. These two terms are not only intended for Muslims but also for people of the book, namely Jews and Christians. These two terms are analyzed based on the interpretation of Wahbah az-Zuhaili in the book of tafsir al-Munir. The type of research that the author uses is the library research method, while the method used is the maudhu'i (limited thematic) research method, namely a research method based on certain themes in the Koran. The results of this research are according to Wahbah Zuhaili in the book of tafsir al-Munir what is meant by ummatan wasatan in the QS. al Baqarah verse 143 is a fundamental point in Islam which contains the meaning of middle class, justice, balance, praiseworthy character, not being excessive in religion and not being negligent in fulfilling one's obligations as well as combining knowledge and charity, the spirit of fighting for justice, teaching balance in various aspects of life and upholding human dignity and dignity. Meanwhile, the term ummatan muqtasid in QS. al-Maidah: 66 according to Wahbah az-Zuhaili is moderate in actions, namely being on the straight path and not exceeding limits. Therefore, from what Wahbah az-Zuhaili explains in his interpretation, it indicates that the concept of ummatan wasathan and muqtasid refers to people who have a middle or balanced attitude in all things, which is in line with human nature, namely being able to combine the physical and spiritual, knowledge and charity and not exceeding limits or hurting other people in the life of religion, nation or state.

Abstract

  Hadith is something attributed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, whether in words, actions, approvals, or characteristics. However, there was an instance where a hadith received through a dream was then attributed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In the understanding of Sufis, this is considered a hadith of the Prophet SAW. One such hadith, believed by Sufis, is the hadith about coffee received by Sayyid Al-Qudaimi. This raises the question of the quality of the coffee hadith received by the Sufi from the Prophet Muhammad SAW through a dream. This research falls into the category of qualitative research, specifically library research, using the Hadith Criticism method, which is useful for examining the quality of the sanad (chain of narrators) and matan (content) of the hadith. The result of this research is that the coffee hadith received by the Sufi from the Prophet Muhammad SAW through a dream, in terms of sanad quality, is classified as a munqati’ hadith because of the broken chain of narrators. This hadith is also classified as maudhu’ or fabricated. Furthermore, in terms of matan quality, Al-Adlabi established four criteria for matan criticism. According to these four criteria, the coffee hadith received by the Sufi through a dream falls under the category of hadiths that contradict reason, sensory perception, and history, and it does not resemble prophetic speech. Therefore, it can be stated that the coffee hadith is not authentic.

Abstract

Beards are something that is found under the chin of every human being, but in Islam maintaining this beard is a form of Islamic teaching delivered by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. But in the present era, maintaining the beard the scholars have differences in understanding it and also related to the law to shave it. This research uses a qualitative method with a ma'anil hadith study model related to the discussion of shaving beards for men. The primary data sources of this research are the books of hadith (kutubus tis'ah) and the books of hadith commentary. While the supporting sources in this study are all books, scientific articles from online journals, theses and others related to the theme of discussion. The data collection technique of this research is to trace all sources of hadith and filter the hadith according to the theme discussed. After the data is obtained, the author will present the data in the form of narratives, tables and graphs, making it easier for the author to draw a conclusion from this research. The findings of this study are that there is no single result that prohibits shaving the beard for Muslims. However, maintaining a beard is an order from the Prophet and a form of difference between Muslims and other people. While in the form of maintaining or shaving the beard is a form of a person in maintaining the appearance, so that it looks more presentable. Nowadays, there are so many innovations that can be done to shave the beard, including electronic razors, laser technology, automatic razors and quality beard care products.

Abstract

The agrarian conflict in Rempang Island emerged due to the planned relocation of the indigenous Kampung Tua Rempang community by the Batam Development Authority (BP Batam) for development of Rempang Eco City, designated as National Strategic Project (PSN). The community rejected relocation, arguing that they have inhabited the land for generations prior to the establishment of the Batam Authority, despite lacking formal land ownership certificates. This study aims to : analyze the government's legal policy regarding relocation and assess whether the Rempang case reflects the colonial-era principle of Domein Verklaring, which treats land without proof of ownership as state property. This research uses a normative juridical approach, focusing on analysis of laws and regulations such as Basic Agrarian Law (UUPA) No. 5 of 1960, Presidential Decree No. 41 of 1973, Presidential Decree No. 28 of 1992, and Government Regulation No. 18 of 2021. The findings reveal that BP Batam lacks legal standing, as Land Management Rights (HPL) certificate for Rempang has not been issued, and legal requirements such as compensation, community consultation, and relocation have not been fulfilled. This relocation practice closely resembles Domein Verklaring and represents form of modern agrarian colonialism that contradicts principles of justice in Indonesia’s agrarian law.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the hadiths in the Satu Hari Satu Hadis application developed by the Center for Hadith Studies (PKH) in Cinagara, Bogor, as a digital- based religious learning medium. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this research collected data through document analysis of Sahih al-Bukhari hadiths on the PKH website. The study focuses on the application and the hadiths published within the Satu Hari Satu Hadis platform. The findings show that this application provides easy access for users through hadiths from Sahih al-Bukhari, thereby ensuring the quality and credibility of the material. Features such as daily notifications and monthly themes support user consistency in studying hadith. However, limitations such as reliance on a single hadith source, the absence of contextual explanations, and the lack of interactive features remain weaknesses that need attention. Thematic messages are arranged according to the Hijri months; for example, during Rabi‘ al-Awwal, the hadiths presented consistently discuss the personality of the Prophet Muhammad. This study recommends further development through the inclusion of additional hadith sources, scholarly contextualization, and discussion features to enhance user understanding and engagement. With such innovations, the Satu Hari Satu Hadis application can become a more effective medium for hadith learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the epistemological transformation in Muhammadiyah’s approach to hadith, from an initial reliance on As-Sunnah As-Sahihah (authentic hadith) toward the more dynamic concept of As-Sunnah Al-Maqbulah (accepted hadith). This research identifies this shift as a significant epistemological evolution that integrates bayani (textual), burhani (rational), and irfani (contextual-spiritual) approaches. Using a qualitative descriptive method with historical-philosophical analysis, this study draws on Muhammadiyah’s primary documents, including the Himpunan Putusan Tarjih (HPT) and Manhaj Tarjih. The findings reveal three key phases of transformation: purification (1912-1970s), transition (1970s-2000), and contextualization (2000-present). The study concludes that this transformation has enabled Muhammadiyah to develop a living Islamic law system through collective ijtihad (ijtihad jama’i), creating a balance between textual integrity and contemporary relevance while contributing significantly to contemporary Islamic legal discourse in Indonesia   Penelitian ini mengkaji transformasi epistemologis dalam pendekatan Muhammadiyah terhadap hadis, dari ketergantungan awal pada As-Sunnah As-Sahihah menuju konsep yang lebih dinamis yaitu As-Sunnah Al-Maqbulah. Kajian ini mengidentifikasi pergeseran tersebut sebagai evolusi epistemologis signifikan yang mengintegrasikan pendekatan bayani (tekstual), burhani (rasional), dan irfani (kontekstual-spiritual). Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang dilengkapi analisis historis-filosofis, penelitian kepustakaan ini bersumber pada dokumen-dokumen primer Muhammadiyah, termasuk Himpunan Putusan Tarjih (HPT) dan Manhaj Tarjih. Temuan penelitian mengungkap tiga fase transformasi kunci: purifikasi (1912-1970-an), transisi (1970-an-2000), dan kontekstualisasi (2000-sekarang). Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa transformasi ini memungkinkan Muhammadiyah mengembangkan sistem hukum Islam yang hidup (living Islamic law system) melalui ijtihad kolektif (ijtihad jama’i), menciptakan keseimbangan antara integritas teks dan relevansi kontemporer sekaligus memberikan kontribusi signifikan bagi wacana hukum Islam kontemporer di Indonesia.
