Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has an important role in shaping the character and noble character of students. Quality PAI teaching materials are one of the determining factors for successful learning. This study aims to describe the principles and characteristics of effective PAI teaching materials. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Data were collected from books, scientific journals, and other reliable sources. The data were analyzed with descriptive analysis techniques and then selected and compared and classified, and the final stage drew conclusions according to the truth. The results of the study found that PAI teaching materials are learning tools designed to assist teachers and students in achieving the learning objectives of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Good and quality PAI teaching materials will help students understand Islamic teachings more easily and explore, as well as practice them in everyday life. In addition, the characteristics of PAI teaching materials that are different from teaching materials in general make additional capital for the realization of the ideals expected by Islamic Religious Education and Budi Pekerti to students. By paying attention to these principles and characteristics, Islamic Religious Education teaching materials can help students to achieve the expected learning objectives, namely to become a Muslim person who has faith, devotion, and noble character.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan proses pengembangan bahan ajar video interaktif berbasis Edpuzzle dan mengidentifikasi kelayakan pengembangan bahan ajar tersebut dalam pembelajaran PAI, sehingga dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Metode pengembangan yang digunakan adalah metode research and development (RnD) model ADDIE. Penelitian bertempat di SMP Darmayanti Cimaung dengan jumlah sampel 25 peserta didik kelas VIII A. Adapun proses validasi media dilakukan 2 orang ahli media dan 3 orang guru SMP Darmayanti Cimaung untuk validasi materi. Sumber data diperoleh melalui studi dokumentasi, wawancara, observasi dan angket. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kelayakan media adalah 87.73% (sangat layak), kelayakan materi adalah 90.30% (sangat layak), dan respons peserta didik terhadap penggunaan bahan ajar video interaktif berbasis edpuzzle adalah 87% (sangat baik). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar video berbasis Edpuzzle sangat layak untuk digunakan dan dapat meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran PAI

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curricula often suffer from fragmentation and technocratic reductionism that separate knowledge from values and moral responsibility. This study addresses the need for a more coherent curriculum framework by examining the Qur’an not merely as a normative source, but as an architectural foundation for curriculum design. The purpose of this study is to reconstruct the PAI curriculum based on thematic Qur’anic exegesis by articulating Qur’anic values and epistemology as organizing principles of educational aims, pedagogy, and assessment. Employing qualitative library research, the study applies thematic exegesis (al-tafsīr al-maudūʿī) to Qur’anic verses related to education, knowledge, and human responsibility, complemented by critical curriculum theory analysis. The findings reveal that Qur’anic values tauhīd, akhlāq or adab, ʿilm, and social responsibility function as an integrated curriculum architecture rather than isolated content areas. Moreover, Qur’anic epistemology conceptualizes knowledge as an amānah acquired through reflective and dialogical processes and validated through ethical praxis. These findings demonstrate that Qur’an-based curriculum reconstruction is an epistemological and pedagogical endeavor capable of producing a coherent, value-oriented, and contextually relevant PAI curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ Islamic character from the perspective of thematic interpretation of the Qur’an through direct observation at SMP Negeri 1 Kalijati, Subang, Indonesia. The research focused on key character indicators, such as honesty, discipline, respect, and cooperation, which were then linked to the moral values contained in Qur’anic verses related to moral education. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing Miles & Huberman’s interactive data model, supported by descriptive quantitative data and thematic interpretation analysis (al-tafsīr al-mawḍū’ī). The data were analyzed thematically to identify the relationship between student behavior in the school context and the principles of Islamic character education, as interpreted in the Qur’an. The results showed that most students displayed positive behavior in accordance with Islamic teachings, although several challenges remained in the aspects of consistency and internalization of values. However, previous studies tend to separate empirical character assessment from Qur’anic exegesis, leaving a methodological gap in integrating observed behavior with thematic Qur’anic interpretation. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening character education based on Quranic values in the school environment to shape a generation with noble morals that are relevant to their daily social context.
