Abstract

Palu is located in the Sulawesi most active fault, with an annual movement of about 7 cm. The epicenter was located near Donggala, with tremors felt in various regions, including North and East Kalimantan. The earthquake had an energy release of approximately 2.5 × 10^20 Nm, equivalent to 200 times the power of the Hiroshima bombing. This presents an interesting subject for studying how to develop a good and accessible disaster mitigation system by utilizing the available information technology today, where disaster information can be easily accessed and synchronized with existing disaster management systems to reduce the impact of earthquake disasters. This research aims to analyze earthquake disaster risks and develop a mitigation model through a spatial analysis approach using Geographic Information System (GIS). The methods employed include analyzing disaster risks by utilizing Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data, road data, and overlaying images with earthquake damage distribution. Additionally, qualitative analysis in the form of disaster management and mitigation analysis is conducted. The data obtained is used to design evacuation routes and determine post-earthquake shelter locations. The results of this research provide a better understanding of disaster vulnerability in the studied areas. Through the developed mitigation model, this research contributes to identifying effective mitigation strategies. The designed evacuation routes and post-earthquake shelter locations provide crucial information for emergency response planning. Furthermore, the analysis results are presented in the form of a WebGIS accessible through a website, enabling easy access to information by the general public

Abstract

Machinists who work the night shift experience a higher probability of sleepiness. The intricate relationship between sleepiness, fatigue, and stress has been acknowledged, especially considering that a significant 75% of accidents stem from drivers who are fatigued. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence fitness for duty.  The methods used are factor analysis and cluster analysis. The results of factor analysis show that from the 7 initial variables studied can be reduced to 4 factors in which represent the 7 initial variables. These factors consist of fatigue factor, age factor, physical factor and stress level factor. The unexpected discovery emerges that sleepiness, a presumed influencing factor, does not align with the anticipated impact on fitness for duty, as per existing theoretical frameworks. This study contributes to a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted interplay between variables affecting fitness for duty among night shift machinists. The unanticipated findings prompt further exploration, thereby fostering a more comprehensive comprehension of the intricate dynamics at play in occupational settings.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

In Indonesia research related to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) is still in the developing phase. MSDs have been analyzed as a major cause of errors, accidents and absences of workers in many countries and industries. This study investigated the prevalence of MSDs and the relationships between office workers, garbage collectors, and farmers. A direct survey was completed in December 2023. A total of 60 questionnaires were fully filled in and used for data analysis. These three occupational groups were chosen as a comparison of MSD risk in formal and informal work in developing countries mainly in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in each work group so that it is expected to provide an understanding of the magnitude of the problems associated with MSD and can also be used as a basis for carrying out more effective ergonomic interventions. A questionnaire of the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire (SNQ) was used in this study. The prevalence of MSDs in the three occupational groups with an average high score was in the neck, shoulders, lower back and knees. The highest prevalence of MSDs for each type of work is for office workers is the neck area (70%), for garbage transport is the shoulder area (85%), and for farmers is the lower back area (70%). Length of work and duration of work per day are variables that have a significant relationship with MSD complaints that were felt during the last 12 months in all three work groups. Although no statistical testing was conducted, the second group consisting of garbage transporters tended to have a higher prevalence compared to the other groups.
