Abstract

Global food security faces serious challenges due to climate change, market volatility, and limited access to nutritious food. Agricultural technology innovation (AgriTech) is seen as one of the solutions to increase productivity and efficiency, but its implementation among smallholders still faces various obstacles, especially related to costs, digital literacy, and limited infrastructure. This research aims to evaluate the balance between agronomic efficiency and social inclusion in the implementation of AgriTech, identify effective mentoring models, and formulate policy recommendations oriented towards equity in access. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study design on smallholders in rural Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 25 participants, field observations, and simple questionnaires of 50 respondents, then analyzed with Miles and Huberman's interactive model combined with quantitative descriptive analysis. The results show that AgriTech is able to increase productivity by an average of 12% per planting season and reduce input costs, but there are still significant obstacles in the form of application costs, limited internet networks, and low digital literacy. The findings also show that blended extension approaches (a combination of face-to-face and digital counseling) and collective institutional strengthening have proven effective in expanding adoption. This research confirms that sustainable food security can only be achieved through a balance between technological disruption and smallholder inclusion. Policy implications include subsidies for application access, integration of fintech services with digital advisory, and digital literacy programs to strengthen the capacity of farmers to utilize technological innovations.

Abstract

Drylands face serious challenges in the agricultural sector, especially in terms of water availability and accurate crop yield prediction. This study aims to assess the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) and remote sensing technology in supporting crop yield prediction and efficient irrigation management in drylands. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, structured questionnaires, participatory observation, and documentation studies in five villages in Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara. The results showed that the integration of AI and remote sensing was able to improve water distribution efficiency by 30% and the accuracy of crop yield prediction reached more than 85%. Respondents such as extension workers and technicians showed a high level of satisfaction with the technology, although some farmers still face digital literacy barriers. Observational findings also confirmed that vegetation in technologically advanced fields had a higher plant health index (NDVI). This study suggests the importance of technology training for farmers as well as the provision of supportive digital infrastructure as strategic steps in the implementation of sustainable precision agriculture.

Abstract

Changes in the benchmark interest rate by monetary authorities are often an important catalyst for financial market dynamics, particularly in influencing the risk perception of foreign investors in developing countries such as Indonesia. In this context, this study aims to analyze the influence of Bank Indonesia's interest rate policy on foreign investors' perception of investment risks, with an event study approach. This study uses secondary data that includes daily stock prices, exchange rates, and foreign capital flows during the period 2020–2023. The research sample consisted of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and actively traded during the observation period. Data analysis techniques include calculation of abnormal returns (AR) and cumulative abnormal returns (CAR), as well as statistical testing with t-tests and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank. The results show that the announcement of interest rate cuts consistently results in abnormal positive returns and increased foreign capital flows, while interest rate hikes lead to abnormal negative returns and capital withdrawals by foreign investors. A significant market response mainly occurred on the 1st to 3rd day after the announcement, which shows the market efficiency of the semi-strong form. These findings confirm that interest rate policy has a high information value and directly influences the risk perception of foreign investors. The practical implications of this study underscore the importance of transparency and consistency of monetary policy communication to maintain market stability and investment attractiveness in Indonesia.
