Abstract

Smart Society 5.0 mengharuskan literasi digital menjadi keterampilan penting dalam konteks ELT. Tugas guru bahasa Inggris termasuk membantu siswa menjadi melek digital serta memanfaatkan teknologi untuk membantu mereka menggunakannya dengan tepat dan sukses. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan dan meneliti tantangan yang dihadapi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam mengintegrasikan dan menerapkan literasi digital ke dalam ELT. Responden penelitian ini adalah 33 guru bahasa Inggris yang bekerja di SMA Negeri dan Swasta di sekitar Denpasar, Bali. Selain itu, penelitian ini dirancang sebagai penelitian kualitatif dimana data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner online terbuka, wawancara dan focus group discussion. Kemudian data dianalisis secara kualitatif yang terdari dari reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Ditemukan bahwa beragam tantangan dihadapi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam menerapkan literasi digital di konteks ELT. Tantangan yang dihadapi tersebut disebabkan oleh faktor-faktor yang muncul dari internal dan eksternal guru bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a substantial relationship between vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension. of the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sukawati in academic year 2021/2022. Vocabulary and learning achievement, particularly reading competence, are crucial factors to consider when learning a foreign language. In the current study, there were two factors. Vocabulary was the independent variable, while reading comprehension was the dependent variable. Furthermore, the study instrument used structured sentence writing and short answer text. The research instruments were created in order to acquire the necessary data. The SPSS 23 version was used to examine the data. The data was analyzed in two steps: perquisite analysis and hypothesis testing. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and the T-test were used to assess hypotheses. The alternate hypothesis, that there was a strong association between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Sukawati in academic year 2021/2022, was eventually accepted based on the findings of the hypothesis testing.

Abstract

Reading is the activity involved in acquiring information and comprehending it from written sources. According to study done by researchers, the majority of VIII G students at SMPN 3 Sukawati in academic year 2022/2023 also experience quite serious problems in reading skills, they still have difficulty identifying for general information, the specific information, textual meaning, and textual references. Researchers are interested in whether the Know Want Learn (KWL) strategy may help eighth-grade pupils at SMPN 3 Sukawati enhance their reading comprehension. To accomplish these objectives, researchers conduct classroom activities. Two cycles of class actions were conducted to gather information via tests and questionnaires. Researchers need to compare the two data to find a substantial improvement in the subject's average score from pre-test to post-test. A questionnaire that included supporting information from the class action was the last test, the findings of which indicated that KWL deployment had been successful. Thus, it can be inferred from the findings of classroom action study that KWL can enhance the reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Sukawati for the academic year 2022–2023.

Abstract

Penggunaan teknologi dalam pengajaran merupakan suatu hal yang tidak dapat dipisahkan. Kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan media variative dalam mengajar menjadi kunci penentu jalannya proses pembelajaran. Selain membantu proses belajar, teknologi juga berperan dalam proses penilaian. Dalam pengabdian Masyarakat ini, guru diberikan pengetahuan dan pelatihan dalam membuat dan menggunakan penilaian berbasis daring. Penerapan penilaian berbasis daring ini diharapkan mampu memberikan alternatif pilihan bagi guru terutama dalam memberikan penilaian. Adapun manfaat dari pelatihan penilaian berbasis daring ini adalah: (1) meningkatkan pertisipasi siswa, (2), memudahkan guru dalam memberikan koreksi dan penilaian, serta (3) Meningkatkan pemahaman dan retensi siswa.
