Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of an intervention using spatial illustration media in the form of room illustrations with objects inside them on improving the independence skills of children with special needs (CwSN) with autism spectrum disorder at the elementary level (Phase A) of a Special School in Deliserdang, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The study was conducted at a Special School using a mixed-methods approach involving 13 children as subjects, regardless of gender or age. The intervention was carried out over three weeks, with 60 minutes of intervention per week, through activities matching objects with their corresponding rooms. Quantitative data were analyzed using simple linear regression, showing that students’ independence scores increased by an average of 1.192 points each week. Interview data collected from parents supported these findings, indicating that the skills practiced in class began to be applied in daily life at home, such as placing shoes on the rack or taking books independently. Thus, it can be concluded that routine interventions using spatial illustration media have a positive effect on the independence skills of children with autism spectrum disorder, particularly at the elementary level of Special Schools.

Abstract

This research raises problems related to children with special needs at an early age. It’s mean not only children with special needs in disability cases, but more focus to children special needs in category due to external factors that cause their behavior to be different from the behavior of children in general, among other like prones to tantrum, easy to speak in negativily words to friends even to their teachers, hits for solve their problems, has difficulty getting along and has obstacles in participating in learning activities in kindengarten level classes. This is a qualitative research, with data processing using field observation, interviews, and documents by photos or videos. The results of this research showing that family and environmental treatment of young children give efects to children's behavior in their daily growth and development, especially in the school environment. The conclusion of this research is that apart from the need for counseling at the posyandu and health center level for parents from local goverment, in the future there will be a need for social agencies as early childhood care centers for parents with working professions in certain categories under social service from goverment.

Abstract

Permasalahan dalam belajar di sekolah diantaranya adalah turunnya motivasi siswa saat mengikuti pembelajaran. Rasa jenuh membuat motivasi dari belajar menurun, sehingga kondisi di dalam kelas menjadi tidak koperatif terhadap materi ajar. Hal yang paling mempengaruhi kejenuhan siswa tersebut adalah sikap guru dalam menguasai kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan media pembelajaran yang mengandung muatan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, mampu menekan kejenuhan siswa saat belajar, sehingga hasil belajar yang didapatkan lebih tinggi sesudah media tersebut digunakan oleh guru. Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk memperoleh serta mengetahui perbedaan motivasi dan tingkat kejenuhan siswa atau hasil belajar pada muatan Bahasa Indonesia antara pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran dan dengan yang tidak menggunakan media pembelajaran pada kelas 1 SD. Hasil penelitian membuktikan, tingkat kejenuhan menurun dengan ukuran nilai yang meningkat, yaitu sebesar 20,25%, dimana sebelum menggunakan media hanya mencapai 60,20%. Sedangkan setelah penerapan media mencapai 80,45%.

Abstract

Ujung dari pendidikan adalah membentuk individu yang berakhlak mulia, cerdas, potensial dan mandiri, sebagai pondasi terbentuknya masyarakat Indonesia yang madani. Untuk mencapai hal tersebut, pemerintah melalui Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan menyusun kuirkulum yang berkembang sesuai kebutuhannya terhadap anak didik, serta melindungi setiap lapisan masyarakat melalui kebijakan-kebijakan pasal terkait, demi tercapainya manusia yang berpendidikan. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif, dengan observasi langsung oleh peneliti, dan pengumpulan dokumen serta wawancara dilaksanakan di SLB (Sekolah Luar Biasa) di Deliserdang, mulai bulan Januari hingga Maret 2023. Hasil dari penelitian ini membuktikan adanya perubahan perilaku dari murid-murid disabilitas tunagrahita setelah memperoleh pendidikan khususnya mata pelajaran PKN (Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan) di sekolah, khususnya di Sekolah Luar Biasa, sebagai satuan pendidikan khusus formal. Pelajaran PKN di SLB telah berhasil menanamkan pribadi warga negara yang baik dengan memahami hak dan kewajibannya dalam perilaku sehari-hari.
