Abstract

Farmers in Indonesia play a crucial role in providing staple foods for the community. However, the welfare of farmers remains an unresolved issue to date. With the advancement of technology, collaboration between agricultural activities and the utilization of technology such as mobile phones should be possible, which can increase farmers' income. This study aims to analyze how mobile phone ownership among farmers can improve the welfare of farmers in Indonesia. Using microdata sourced from the World Bank's Global Financial Inclusion Index, this research employs Ordered Logistic Regression to analyze the data. The results of the data analysis indicate a significant tendency of variables such as gender, age, farmers' residential location, and savings behavior towards increasing farmers' income associated with farmers' mobile phone ownership. With the significance generated from these variables, this study can serve as a basis for agricultural stakeholders and policymakers to determine more beneficial agricultural strategies and strengthen policies that can improve farmers' welfare in the current digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact and effectiveness of monetary policy on the decline of the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research employs a quantitative approach using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) with equations 2017-2024 to evaluate the relationship between monthly IHSG and variables such as BI Rate and Exchange Rate. The findings reveal that IHSG significantly affects JUB, con-sistent with previous research indicating that monetary expansion by Bank Indonesia en-hances market liquidity and raises IHSG. However, during the pandemic, global uncertainty disrupted the relationship between IHSG and other economic variables, as evidenced by the insignificance of IHSG concerning BI Rate andthe significant impact of Exchange Rate in the first equation, and Dow Jones in the second. The significant influence of Dow Jones on IHSG highlights global market integration and its effect on investor sentiment in Indonesia. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding the relationship be-tween IHSG and economic variables amid global uncertainty.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants affecting labour absorption in the industrial sector of West Java province. Using random effect panel data regression, it examines secondary data from 2017 to 2021. The findings indicate that city/regency minimum wages, economic growth, private sector investment, and the number of operating industries positively and significantly influence labour absorption in the industrial sector. Conversely, road infrastructure, foreign direct investment, and the education index do not show a statistically significant effect. To enhance economic growth and labour absorption, the government should accelerate investment, improve the ease of doing business, promote labour-intensive industries, and align labour market needs with industry demands through education and training programs.

Abstract

North Sumatra has experienced significant economic growth, which has driven the growth of other economic indicators. However, economic growth across regions in North Sumatra Province remains unevenly distributed. This study focuses on the analysis of economic growth convergence in the regencies/cities of North Sumatra Province during the period 2018-2022. The concept of convergence refers to the tendency of poorer regions to catch up with richer regions. By using the neoclassical growth theory and incorporating variables that influence economic growth, this study aims to promote economic convergence through a panel data regression approach. The results show a decrease in disparity indicated by sigma convergence, but the lagging regions have not been able to catch up with the more advanced regions as indicated by beta convergence. The variables affecting economic growth are the Human Development Index (HDI) and the open unemployment rate, while the realization of the Regional Budget does not have a significant impact
