Abstract

Farmers in Indonesia play a crucial role in providing staple foods for the community. However, the welfare of farmers remains an unresolved issue to date. With the advancement of technology, collaboration between agricultural activities and the utilization of technology such as mobile phones should be possible, which can increase farmers' income. This study aims to analyze how mobile phone ownership among farmers can improve the welfare of farmers in Indonesia. Using microdata sourced from the World Bank's Global Financial Inclusion Index, this research employs Ordered Logistic Regression to analyze the data. The results of the data analysis indicate a significant tendency of variables such as gender, age, farmers' residential location, and savings behavior towards increasing farmers' income associated with farmers' mobile phone ownership. With the significance generated from these variables, this study can serve as a basis for agricultural stakeholders and policymakers to determine more beneficial agricultural strategies and strengthen policies that can improve farmers' welfare in the current digital era.

Abstract

Child stunting remains a significant health issue in Indonesia, particularly within single-mother households facing socioeconomic challenges. This study aims to analyze the impact of single-mother status on child stunting prevalence while evaluating other socioeconomic factors such as educational level, poverty status, and access to basic facilities. The research employs descriptive statistics, multinomial logistic regression, and binary logistic regression methods with SUSENAS 2022. The findings reveal that single-mother status, especially in the divorced while living and divorced due to death categories, significantly increases the risk of child stunting. Additionally, factors such as low maternal education, employment in informal sectors, and limited access to proper sanitation increase stunting prevalence. This study highlights the urgency of integrated policies to support single mothers through improved education, access to stable employment, and enhanced infrastructure to reduce stunting and improve the quality of life for children in vulnerable households. Furthermore, to improve the quality of life of children in each household, debriefing related to nutrition can be carried out for mothers. Thus, problems related to the prevalence of stunting can be minimized, especially from single mothers.

Abstract

The urgency of this research relates to one of the issues raised in the RPJMN 2020–2024 regarding decentralization and regional independent, namely the high dependence of local govenrments on transfer funds and the fiscal independence disparity among regions, as highlighted in the review report by the BPK RI. The objective of this study is to analyze the presence or absence of the flypaper effect based on the mapping of the fiscal independence index in provincial governments categorized as not yet independent, towards independence, and independent. Using purposive sampling, the study selected 33 provinces during the 2014–2023 period. The research utilized secondary data from DJPK Ministry of Finance, and applied a panel data multiple linear regression method. The result that flypaper effect occurs in provinces classified as not yet independent, whereas it does not occur in provinces categorized as towards independence and independent. This research provides empirical evidence that the flypaper effect does not occur uniformly across Indonesia. Moreover, this study contributes to filling the research gap by applying a new approach in analyzing the flypaper effect through the classification of provinces based on fiscal independence index mapping.

Abstract

The profitability of banks in the KBMI IV group, which dominates nearly half of Indonesia's banking assets, plays a crucial role in the stability and performance of the national financial system. This study aims to analyze the effect of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Third-Party Funds (DPK), and Interest Rates on the profitability of KBMI IV banks in Indonesia using Return on Assets (ROA) as the profitability proxy. Employing a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis from 2012 to 2022, the study used the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) as the optimal estimation technique. The findings show that CAR has no significant effect on ROA, DPK has a negative and significant effect, while Interest Rate positively and significantly affects ROA. Simultaneously, all three variables jointly influence profitability. These results suggest that having a large capital base or deposit fund alone is not sufficient to enhance bank performance unless accompanied by strategic allocation and efficient management. The implication is that banks need integrated financial strategies that balance risk, optimize capital use, and respond effectively to interest rate movements to ensure long-term profitability and financial resilience.
