Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the implementation and effectiveness of the nature play activity “Bringing Plants into the Classroom” in enhancing the creativity of young children. Method: Conducted in a Chinese kindergarten setting with 24 children aged 4–5 and two teachers, the study utilized classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of children's creative works. The activity involved plant classification, observation, and measurement to engage children in hands-on learning experiences. Results: Findings demonstrate that well-structured nature play activities significantly promote children's creativity, enhance observational and scientific exploration skills, foster emotional engagement, and support the development of teamwork and hands-on abilities. Novelty: This study provides empirical evidence on the educational value of nature play within the early childhood curriculum in a Chinese context, highlighting its potential to support holistic cognitive and emotional development through experiential learning. The research offers a practical model for integrating nature-based pedagogies into structured classroom environments to cultivate young learners’ creative and scientific competencies.

Abstract

Objective: This concept paper aims to explore the dual challenge faced by preschool educators in the digital age—developing digital competencies while maintaining psychological well-being. Method: Using a conceptual qualitative approach, this study conducted a thematic synthesis of recent literature from 2018 to 2024 across multiple international databases. The analysis was guided by established educational and psychological frameworks including DigCompEdu, PERMA, and the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model.  Results: The study identifies three key domains crucial for preschool teacher development: digital pedagogy competencies, socio-emotional well-being, and professional sustainability. These domains are synthesized into a proposed framework that offers integrated solutions. Novelty: The proposed framework bridges a gap in existing research by integrating digital skill development and teacher well-being, specifically within the underexplored context of early childhood education.

Abstract

Work discipline is critical for enhancing the performance and professionalism of police forces. This study investigates how integrity and supervision affect the work discipline of Generation Z non-commissioned officers (NCOs) at the Bengkulu Regional Police, using organizational commitment as a mediator. The urgency is underscored by a rise in disciplinary violations among Gen Z officers in 2024-2025. A quantitative approach using SEM-PLS was applied to data from 155 respondents, collected via validated instruments. The results show that organizational commitment is the strongest direct driver of work discipline (path coefficient: 0.898). Integrity significantly builds commitment (0.665) and exerts its main influence on discipline indirectly through this mediator (0.597). In contrast, the direct effects of integrity (0.096) and supervision (0.009) on discipline are negligible, though supervision also strengthens commitment (0.279) and has a meaningful indirect effect (0.250). The study concludes that for Generation Z officers, strengthening work discipline is best achieved by fostering organizational commitment, which is primarily shaped by integrity. Therefore, police management should implement integrity development programs and adopt supportive, humanistic supervision to enhance commitment and, consequently, discipline and overall performance.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how mothers construct attachment experiences with young children who experience speech delays due to early exposure to gadgets. A qualitative approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was employed with nine participating mothers whose children had been exposed to gadgets since around 1.5 years of age and were undergoing speech therapy. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and analysed idiographically and interpretatively. The results showed that excessive gadget use without supervision weakened key attachment functions, including secure base, proximity maintenance, safe haven, and response to separation stress. Mothers interpreted their children's speech delays as a crisis of maternal identity marked by guilt and role conflict, particularly among working mothers. Gadgets, which were originally interpreted as a practical solution, were reconstructed as a symbol of emotional absence. However, mothers showed reflective capacity to restore attachment through gadget restrictions, increased emotional presence, physical closeness, direct interaction, as well as spiritual coping and family support. This study confirms that speech delay due to gadget exposure is a relational phenomenon closely related to the quality of attachment and the mother's psychological presence in digital parenting.
