Abstract

Learning model is one of the important tools to transfer material by teachers to students in the classroom. Until this 21st century, many learning models have been created and developed which aim to facilitate learning in the classroom to be well organized and achieve the learning objectives themselves. This research aims to analyze the implementation of Project Based Learning (PJBL) learning model in teaching speaking. This research was conducted qualitatively with Milles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014) qualitative description model. Data collection in this study used observation, interview, and document collection methods, while the research participant of this study was one of the language classes that used the PJBL learning model in teaching speaking and three language teachers. The researcher chose a sample of one class IX at SMP Negeri 11 Semarang as the material and place of research. The validation of the instrument used by the researcher has been validated by educational expert with doctoral qualifications. The research findings showed that the language classes in SMP Negeri 11 Semarang had implemented the PJBL learning model in accordance with the instrument that became the research reference in the form of characteristics and steps of the PJBL learning process. However, the researcher also found problems in the learning process that can be handled collaboratively by students with teacher guidance.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), holds great potential to enhance the quality of education. SMPN 3 Semarang initiated an AI training program for teachers to strengthen their pedagogical competence. The development of AI in education presents opportunities to enhance teacher competence through technology-based training. This community service activity uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data is collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires given to training participants. The results of the activity demonstrate that this training offers a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts of AI, its applications in education, and practical skills in utilizing various AI tools and platforms. Additionally, several challenges were identified during the implementation of AI, including limitations in technological infrastructure and teachers' resistance to change.Nevertheless, this training successfully improved teachers' pedagogical competence and made a positive contribution to the quality of learning in schools. This community service activity also made the training in the use of artificial intelligence at SMPN 3 Semarang a model and reference for other schools in improving the quality of learning in this digital era.

Fillers have an important role in communication, especially for teachers to improve their delivery style and communication skills, resulting in a more positive and efficient classroom environment for the students. Fillers often used by teachers when speaking but it is possible that they do not know what fillers are and how to use them. This study aims to explain the kinds and functions of fillers used by teachers in EFL classroom Interaction. This study implements descriptive qualitative method. The participants are students of in-serviced teacher program in Universitas Negeri Semarang 2022. The data is analyzed using the theory of filler types by Rose (1998), which are lexicalized and unlexicalized. In addition, this study also uses theory of filler functions by Stenstrom (1994), which are hesitation, empathizer, mitigation, time-creating device, and editing term. This study found two types of filler namely, lexicalized and unlexicalized fillers. Filler okay is the most lexicalized filler frequently used by the teachers. Filler uh is the most unlexicalized filler frequently used by the teachers. Further, this study found five functions of filler used in EFL classroom interaction, such as hesitation in 99 utterances, empathizer in 49 utterances, mitigation in 20 utterances, time-creating device in 14 utterances, and editing term in 6 utterances.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Digital technology, dominated by artificial intelligence applications (AI Apps), has become an important element in the learning process in the world of education. The lack of access for teachers to professional development activities, such as in-house training, workshops, seminars/webinars, is a major factor behind the low level of digital literacy and competence among teachers. To bridge the digital competency gap experienced by teachers, this outreach activity was conducted using an active participation method. The results of the activity showed that it provided teachers with an understanding of AI concepts and their application in education. Additionally, teachers gained practical skills in using various AI-based learning applications for pedagogical purposes. Keywords: Teachers, artificial intelligence, technology   ABSTRAK Teknologi digital yang didominasi teknologi kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence Applications - AI Apps) di dunia pendidikan menjadi elemen penting dalam proses pembelajaran.
