Abstract

The dynamics of the Palestinian struggle are also colored by the communist movement. This article discusses one of the periods of development of communism in Palestine, namely the founding of the Palestinian Communist Party (PCP) in 1923-1982. PCP was initially founded and dominated by Jewish immigrants from Russia. After officially joining the Communist International (Comintern), they received instructions to carry out Arabization within their party. This Arabization aims to enable the PCP to recruit Arabs and support the struggle of the Arab community, which is the majority in Palestine. This article analyzes the PCP's failure to unite Arabs and Jews, which was caused by differences in political interests. This research uses a narrative and empirical historical approach using critical historical methods (heuristics, verification, interpretation and historiography). The theory used in this research is the theory of ideology and identity politics. The findings of this research are that the emergence of identity politics between Arabs and Jews in the PKP has led to several internal (Arabization) and external policies (British White Paper 1939), which resulted in a dualism that thwarted their efforts to become a revolutionary party against British colonialism in Palestine.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of public opinion and perception regarding religious moderation in the context of Mount Semeru incident, Lumajang, Indonesia, (2022). This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing perception theory and virtual ethnographic analysis to examine Twitter users' responses to a viral video depicting individuals disrupting traditional offerings at Mount Semeru, also investigates how Twitter as a social media platform influences public perception of religious moderation. The findings reveal three distinct response categories: opposition, support, and moderation, which contributed to digital conflicts. To minimize digital conflicts, especially intolerant responses on social media, there is a need to strengthen religious moderation on social media through education content grounded in Islamic scriptures (Quran and Hadith), Indonesian state ideology (Pancasila), and collaboration with religious authorities via digital media formats. The research demonstrates the significant role of social media in shaping public perceptions of religious tolerance in contemporary Indonesia.

Abstract

The management of the Hajj pilgrimage in Turkey continues to evolve as the ruling government regime changes. During the Ottoman Turkish period, the Hajj was managed directly by the Sultanate. When the Republic of Turkey was established and gradually eliminated the religious aspect, the religious institution also transformed, followed by the Religious institution which was then managed by the State which upholds secularism. This article examines the development of Hajj in the Republic of Turkey from a historical and contemporary perspective by tracing the process of change in accordance with political conditions from the Ottoman Turkish period to the modern period. The finding of this research is that the dynamics of religious activities, especially Hajj, cannot be dissociated from the influence of political transformations that occurred throughout the Ottoman Turkish era, the Republic until the 21st century. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical which refers to the historical research method.
