Abstract

English is a very important language nowadays, therefore many people learn english just to get a job and so on. learning english is very complex because english consists of four skills, namely speaking, writing, reading, and listening. listening skill is the most difficult skill compared to other skills because we need to understand what other people are saying. understanding sentences spoken by native speakers is a fairly complicated problem experienced by people learning a second language, especially for third semester students at universitas ma'arif nahdlatul ulama. the purpose of this study, to formulate the problems faced by PBG third semester students at universitas ma'arif nahdlatul ulama in learning listening comprehension. second, formulate the factors that affect difficulties in learning listening comprehension. third, formulate ways to overcome these problems. The study's findings show that the students had difficulties with the following: (1) they had trouble understanding the main idea and supporting details; (2) they lacked vocabulary; (3) they showed less initiative when reading; (4) they had trouble understanding the speaker's accent; (5) they lost focus; and (6) they had less desire to communicate

Abstract

Creative business training based on handicrafts from woven pandanus is an effort to empower the Wonorejo Village community to improve economic capacity and skills. This article describes a training program that involves community needs observation and intensive training in pandan weaving. Through this training, participants are equipped with technical skills starting from the material preparation stage to making innovative products such as mats, bags and baskets. In addition, participants were also provided with knowledge on digital marketing strategies to expand market reach. The results of the training showed an increase in community skills, with 85% of participants able to master basic techniques in a short time. Some community groups have also started to form small pandanus-based businesses that have the potential to create new jobs. This program not only supports economic independence, but also strengthens awareness of sustainable local resource management. The implementation of this training is a sustainable local wisdom-based community empowerment model, providing significant social and economic impacts for the Wonorejo Village community

Abstract

This research aims to discover how well the students' reading comprehension abilities are enhanced by QAR strategy and to discover how the students’ responses to the use of QAR strategy. The population in this research were students of 10th grade SMK Ma’arif 9 Kebumen which consisted of 507 students and the sample consisted of 60 students. This research used a quantitative and data was gathered from the test result as well as a questionnaire containing 16 questions with an item scale. The test result in experimental class showed that the pre-test average was 55.6 while the post-test was 82.2. The average score of both is quite different. After hypothesis testing was carried out, the results obtained were T Score < T Table (0,000<0,05), Therefore, it can be said that using QAR has an impact on students' reading comprehension abilities of 10th grade students in SMK Ma’arif 9 Kebumen. In addition, the students also showed positive responses to the use of QAR strategy such as the students were able to mark keywords from the text to find the correct answer, the students were able to explain the information contained in the reading text, and the students said that the QAR strategy facilitated them to understand the reading text and to answer the questions. It was evident from the results of the questionnaires. Most of students stated that the QAR technique was highly beneficial and helped them enhance their reading comprehension skills.
