Abstract

Background & Aim: Enteric fever is a major public health concern around the world and endemic in low- and middle-income countries like, India. Typically, it spreads through contaminated food or water. Salmonella Typhi proliferate and spread throughout the bloodstream seeding multiple organs in the body. Incidence data of culture confirmed Typhoid cases is approximately 377per 100000 population with an approximate case fatality rate of 1% in India. The management of cases are hampered due to emerging the drug resistance of isolates because of rampant and misuse of antibiotics. This study investigates to analyse the current pattern of antibiotic susceptibility among Salmonella isolates from cases of enteric fever seen at ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Faridabad. Material & Methods: This is a retrospective, cross-sectional study. Blood cultures from patients with suspected enteric fever from Jan 2017 to Dec 2019 were included. The blood cultures were processed using the BacT/Alert automated blood culture system. Results: During the study period, a total of 4064 blood culture specimens were received from the patients suspected for fever. Out of a total of 2717 culture positive samples, 373 (13.73%) were found positive for the growth of Salmonella enterica [Salmonella typhi 87.13% (325/373), Salmonella paratyphi A (12.86%)], confirming the enteric fever. Conclusion: Treatment with appropriate antimicrobial drugs is crucial for patients with typhoidal infections and the antimicrobial susceptibility of such isolates must be reported as soon as possible.

Abstract

Generally, discussion about diagonalization of matrices in linear algebra is a matrix over the field. This research presents the diagonalization of matrices over commutative rings. Previous studies have explained the diagonalization of the matrix over a commutative ring, but there are some shortcomings in it. Therefore, this paper will present a matrix diagonalization process that could overcome these shortcomings. This research proposes a method for diagonalization matrices where the characteristic polynomial splits completely over the image of a ring homomorphism. Furthermore, the diagonalization is done over ring localization, so that there are more commutative ring matrices which can be diagonalized in this way. Meanwhile, the sufficient condition for a matrix which can be diagonalized in this thesis is when the determinant of the matrix whose columns are the eigenvectors is regular. Furthermore, to show this diagonalization method applies in general, given a special matrix n × n which satisfies the sufficient condition. Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a major health problem in the elderly that contributes to an increased risk of morbidity and mortality due to cardiovascular disease and other complications. Early detection of hypertension is very important to prevent serious complications and improve the quality of life of the elderly. This community service activity was carried out at Panti Werdha Hana, Babakan, South Tangerang, involving 36 elderly people (7 men and 29 women). The methods used included socialization about hypertension and the importance of early detection, as well as blood pressure screening using a calibrated digital tensiometer. The screening results showed that 22.22% of participants had hypertension, 63.89% pre-hypertension, and 13.89% had normal blood pressure. Education about healthy lifestyle modifications was given to participants who were at risk or had hypertension. This activity emphasized the importance of blood pressure screening and education as a strategy to prevent hypertension in the elderly. With early detection and appropriate intervention, the risk of hypertension complications can be minimized so that the quality of life of the elderly increases. Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing Indonesia’s import value during the period 2021–2025 using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. To ensure the validity of the model, a series of classical assumption tests were conducted in accordance with the Best Linear Unbiased Estimator (BLUE) criteria, including tests for normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation. The data were obtained from official publications of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other relevant sources. The estimation results demonstrate that the independent variables, namely the exchange rate (X₁), national income (X₂), foreign exchange reserves (X₃), inflation rate (X₄), and interest rate (X₅), exert varying effects on Indonesia’s import value, with certain variables exhibiting significant influence while others remain insignificant. The model is free from violations of the classical assumptions, thereby meeting the criteria of the Best Linear Unbiased Estimator (BLUE).
