Abstract

Mathematics education for deaf elementary school students is a crucial goal outlined in Article 31 of Indonesia's 1945 Constitution. Immediate and focused interventions are essential to support their mathematical education, a fundamental field for problem-solving in various aspects of life. This study involves a systematic literature review (SLR), examining the substance of multiple scholarly articles listed on Google Scholar and published across Indonesia from 2013 to 2022. Its primary focus is on different facets concerning the learning of mathematics for elementary school students who are deaf in Indonesia. While there hasn't been a notable upward trend in research studies focused on the learning of mathematics among deaf elementary school students over the past three years, it is revealed that the predominant research design is quantitative. The most researched material is "Numbers," and the commonly chosen instrument is "tests." Research locations are most frequently in Java, particularly East Java Province. Moreover, many studies highlight the central attention given to creating educational materials as a primary area of interest. These findings have led to the proposal of several suggestions for future research concerning the education of mathematics for deaf elementary school students in Indonesia, including the need to enhance research efforts in this area, explore more complex mathematical topics, and ensure a more equitable distribution of chosen research locations.

Abstract

This study explores the factors influencing the exchange of tacit knowledge among teachers, which supports creativity, learning, and problem-solving in education. It focuses on how individual knowledge and the sharing of tacit knowledge are interconnected. The research examines four key factors: teaching experience (including education level and attitude), length of service, socialization, and training, and attitudes toward the Freedom of Learning Curriculum. A quantitative survey method was used to collect data from 123 vocational high school teachers between June 21-23, 2023. The participants were asked to complete an online questionnaire about their background and attitudes toward curriculum changes. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were applied to the data. The results show that teachers' experience-based knowledge is a crucial factor in acquiring and sharing tacit knowledge, which fosters human connections and collaboration. The findings also reveal that teachers' personal experiences and interactions play a key role in the exchange of unspoken knowledge, leading to improved relationships between teachers and students and expanding their social networks.

Abstract

Micro-credential language courses have gained significant attention in the field of language education due to their potential to offer targeted and flexible learning experiences. However, the successful implementation of these courses relies on understanding the perceptions of language educators and addressing the associated issues and challenges. This study aims to identify language educators’ perceptions of online language learning platforms and micro-credential online language learning platforms and explore the issues and challenges in developing micro-credential language courses. Employing a quantitative approach, data was collected from 30 respondents from language educators at the centre for language learning, in a public university in Malaysia. Through survey questionnaires, quantitative insights into educators’ perceptions and experiences were gathered. The survey questionnaire gathered quantitative data on educators’ perceptions and experiences. This research sheds light on language educators’ perceptions of online language learning platforms and micro-credentials while identifying the challenges inherent in developing such courses. The findings underscore the significance of addressing these challenges to ensure the effective implementation of micro-credential-based language courses within online education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication competency needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) based on teachers' perspectives and the communication abilities of the students themselves. A survey method with a quantitative approach was used, collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 41 teachers and 20 ASD students from Special Schools (SLB) in West Java. The sampling technique applied was purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 23, with descriptive analysis techniques and reliability tests to ensure the validity of the instruments. The research results reveal that students with ASD need improvements in both receptive and expressive communication competencies, particularly in understanding multi-step instructions, recognizing visual symbols, and responding to non-verbal cues and complex questions. Furthermore, challenges were found in initiating conversations and using more specific vocabulary in social interactions. This study emphasizes the importance of developing more structured and individualized teaching strategies to enhance the communication competencies of students with ASD.
