Abstract

Rice dwarf disease caused by Rice grassy stunt virus (RGSV) and Rice ragged stunt virus (RRSV) is frequently found in Indonesia. This disease is transmitted by brown planthopper/BPH (Nilaparvata lugens Stål). The infected plants become dwarfs and lead to reduced yields. The purpose of this study is to determine the number of BPH populations due to the occurrences of dwarf disease and yield on Inpari 32 rice over two sequential planting seasons in Klaten, Central Java. The observed parameters were dwarf disease symptoms, incidence and intensity of the disease, BPH population and its natural enemy, the vegetative growth, and yields. The analysis used in this study were descriptive analysis and linear regression. The results showed that, plant growth during the dry season was better than the rainy season based on plant height and tiller number. The average population of BPH in the dry season were 0.2–4 individual/hill which is lower than in the rainy season (0.43–4.4 individual/hill). The incidence and intensity of disease in the dry season were lower than rainy season. The higher incidence and intensity of rice dwarf disease in the rainy season caused a decrease in dry harvest yields and milled dry yields were 10.95% and 10.81%, respectively

Abstract

Coffee is one of the plantation commodities that has quite high economic value among other plantation crops and plays an important role as a source of foreign exchange for the country. The success of coffee agribusiness requires the support of all parties involved in the coffee production process, processing and marketing of coffee commodities. In Kepahiang Regency, coffee is a plantation commodity that is very popular with the community. This can be seen from the increase in coffee consumption in Kepahiang Regency which has experienced a significant increase. One of the weaknesses of coffee is in terms of distribution and marketing. A marketing system is said to be efficient if it can provide maximum satisfaction for producers, consumers and marketers with the lowest possible use of economic resources. The processing of coffee into Green Bean coffee carried out by farmers is to increase and maximize the income and standard of living of the farmer's household, which in the end can meet the needs of their family. To increase farmers' income, various marketing channels are used to distribute the results of coffee processing into green coffee beans from producer to consumer level. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out a more in-depth study on "Channel Analysis and Marketing Margins for Coffee Beans (green beans) in Cugung Lalang Village, Ujan District, Regency Kepahiang.

Abstract

Insect pests are a serious threat to rice production because they can cause various disease symptoms that cause significant damage to rice plants, resulting in decreased production. This study focused on identifying insect pests in rice plants in Bengkulu Province. This study aims to identify insect pest species in rice plants in various research locations covering the highlands and lowlands in Bengkulu Province. This study was conducted in July-August 2024. Sampling was conducted using insect nets, and insect pest identification was carried out. The analysis method used is a qualitative descriptive method. This study produced several main insect pest species, namely the seedling fly (Atherigona oryzae), rice orange leafhoppers (Cicadulina bipunctata), rice leaf folder (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis), rice bugs (Leptocorisa oratoriuis), green paddy leafhoppers (Nephotettix virescens), rice stem gall midge (Orseolia oryzae), green grasshoppers (Oxya japonica), green grasshoppers (Oxya serville), zigzag leafhopper (Recilia dorsalis), Ebarrius cognatus,  rice black bug (Scotinopara coartata), and yellow stem borer (Scripophaga interculas) in various research locations. The level of insect attack varied in each location, with some locations showing higher levels of attack than others.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is an important plantation commodity in Indonesia, including West Papua, but its productivity at smallholder level remains low due to suboptimal crop management, use of low-performing planting materials, and aging trees. This community service program aimed to improve farmers' capacity to rejuvenate old cocoa stands through grafting techniques. The activity was conducted on July 17, 2025, in the cocoa field of a member of the Mujir Aibone farmer group, Ransiki, South Manokwari Regency, and implemented through short lectures, field demonstrations, and supervised hands-on practice of side and top grafting. The results showed high participation and strong enthusiasm among farmers, most of whom had no prior experience with grafting. Follow-up evaluation two weeks after training indicated an average grafting success rate of 80%, suggesting that this technique is feasible and promising for accelerating cocoa rejuvenation and supporting productivity improvement in smallholder plantations.  Keywords: Cocoa; Grafting; Productivity; Rejuvenation; Training   ABSTRAK   Tanaman kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) merupakan komoditas perkebunan penting di dunia maupun Indonesia, termasuk Papua.
