Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of child-friendly education for elementary school-aged santri at Hidayatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School, addressing a gap in literature on daily practices within such settings. Using a qualitative case study, data were gathered via observation and interviews with administrators, educators, and students. Analysis followed Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña's interactive model. Findings indicate implementation through three primary strategies: (1) ensuring a safe, developmentally-appropriate learning environment; (2) building dialogical educator-student relationships; and (3) applying discipline focused on habit formation and constructive communication. This integrated approach fosters a positive learning climate and enhances student engagement. The study concludes that child-friendly education is viably cultivated through everyday pedagogical practices in Islamic boarding schools, demonstrating their potential as holistic learning environments for child development.

Abstract

This paper critically evaluates Chromebook procurement in Indonesia’s education digitalization program by examining how procurement governance shapes corruption risks and shapes the conditions under which educational technology is implemented. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research draws on secondary data from procurement documents, regulatory frameworks, media reports, and relevant academic literature, which were analyzed through content analysis and validated using source triangulation. The findings indicate that the most significant corruption risks emerged during the planning and technical specification stages, particularly through budget mark-ups, specification locking, restricted vendor competition, and informal negotiations among bureaucratic actors, suppliers, and external parties. Because this study does not collect perception data from teachers or students, the Technology Acceptance Model is used only as a conceptual lens for interpreting documented implementation conditions, such as internet dependence, uneven teacher readiness, and unequal access to digital resources, which may affect perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The study concludes that the digitalization of education should not be measured solely by the number of devices distributed, but by the transparency, accountability, and contextual relevance of procurement decisions. Strengthening oversight mechanisms, institutional integrity, and need-based planning is essential to ensure that digital technologies contribute to substantive educational improvement rather than serving merely as instruments of policy symbolism. Keywords: Chromebook procurement, Education digitalization, Corruption, Public procurement governance.

Abstract

The growing demand for child-friendly learning has become increasingly urgent, as elementary classroom practices remain largely oriented toward academic pressure and often fail to accommodate students’ psychological comfort. This condition contributes to low student engagement and limited confidence in expressing ideas. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of child-friendly education through a Joyful Learning approach in fourth-grade Science and Social Studies instruction at SDN Jerangkang, North Lampung. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of one fourth-grade teacher and five students. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis, including open coding, categorization, and theme development to generate in-depth interpretations. The findings reveal that child-friendly education is reflected in the creation of a safe and comfortable learning environment, minimal pressure during instruction, and respect for students’ perspectives. The Joyful Learning approach was implemented through educational games, songs and movements, and contextual storytelling. These practices enhanced students’ active participation, conceptual understanding, self-confidence, and learning enthusiasm. This study highlights the importance of teachers’ creativity and pedagogical competence in fostering meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences.

Abstract

The current of globalization threatens the national identity of the younger generation, yet research on the implementation of national character education at the micro-level of elementary schools remains limited. This study aims to describe the implementation of nationalism character education through Civics Education in the fifth grade of an Islamic Qur'anic elementary school in East Lampung and to examine the process of internalizing nationalist values among students. A qualitative approach utilizing a case study design was employed. Data collection took place from April to May 2026 through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of four individuals, namely the principal, the Civics Education teacher, and two fifth-grade students selected based on the criteria of highest academic and non-academic achievements. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that the implementation proceeds contextually and is integrated through teacher role-modeling and the habituation of discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and appreciation of differences. The internalization of values in students is reflected in their active participation and compliance with rules, despite facing challenges regarding time constraints and external environmental influences outside of school. This study offers an empirical model for the implementation of nationalism character based on the interaction of key actors at the elementary school level, and identifies the necessity for school-family synergy and a reflective pedagogical approach.
