Abstract

This community service activity aimed to socialize the correct (standard) use of the Indonesian language, thereby fostering a sense of love for the country among students at SMA Negeri 1 Cinangka, Serang Regency, Banten. The goal of this activity was to instill early awareness among students to use the Indonesian language according to standardized spelling with deep love for the nation, without feeling ashamed, outdated, or merely using it as a form of identity as Indonesian citizens. It sought to rekindle a sense of nationalism in the students of SMAN 1 Cinangka by encouraging them to love and use the Indonesian language in accordance with linguistic norms.The method used in the socialization activity involved preparation, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. The socialization event was held at SMA Negeri 1 Cinangka, Cinangka Village, Serang Regency, on Monday, August 26, 2024. The participants of this activity included 207 students from SMA Negeri 1 Cinangka and the KKM (Kuliah Kerja Mahasiswa) group 38 of Cinangka. The speakers were lecturers from Bina Bangsa University with a background in the field of linguistics. The results of this activity produced an understanding and awareness among students to use the Indonesian language according to standardized spelling with deep love for the nation, without feeling ashamed, outdated, or merely using it as a form of identity as Indonesian citizens. This socialization activity is expected to rekindle a sense of nationalism in the students of SMAN 1 Cinangka, encouraging them to love and use the Indonesian language in accordance with linguistic norms.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in Indonesia's economy, particularly through their contributions to the formation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employment absorption. MSMEs are also recognized for their strong economic resilience, making them a key pillar of national financial and economic stability. Acknowledging this significance, through the Student Community Service Program (KKM), Group 36 conducted training and mentoring for MSME actors in Bulakan Village over a two-month period. This initiative aimed to enhance the understanding of MSME actors regarding the critical impact of branding, packaging design, and product innovation on marketing strategies. The outcomes of this activity include the creation of distinctive product branding and logos, as well as innovations that have the potential to improve the quality of MSME products.

Abstract

This article examines how the Aceh floods are portrayed in the YouTube video Mata Najwa through Najwa Shihab's interview with the Governor of Aceh (Mualim). This research uses the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach popularized by Ruth Wodak, which emphasizes the relationship between language, power, and the existing socio-political context. The data used in this study are dialogue transcripts taken from five YouTube video clips as the unit of analysis. The research findings indicate that the disaster narrative is constructed through linguistic techniques that emphasize the emergency situation, the importance of leadership, moral responsibility, and efforts to legitimize the power of local government in facing the crisis. The choice of words used tends to be emotional, religious, and persuasive, thus not only conveying information but also shaping the audience's views and empathy. Thus, the resulting discourse has a significant contribution in influencing public perceptions of the disaster and the parties involved.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the denotative and connotative meanings in the lyrics of Kunto Aji's song "Saudade." The approach used is descriptive qualitative with semantic methods to explore the meaning of language in detail. The data collected in this study are words, phrases, and sentences in the song lyrics that contain both meanings. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and recording methods, while data analysis was carried out by grouping and understanding the meanings based on the context that appears in the lyrics. The results of the study show that the denotative meaning in the song tends to be direct and clear, while the connotative meaning is more often used to express complex emotions. The lyrics of the song "Saudade" describe feelings of longing, loss, and also deep reflections on life experiences. The use of connotative meanings strengthens the poetic and emotional elements, thus creating an emotional bond between the song and its listeners.

Abstract

Media coverage of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program not only serves to convey information but also plays a role in shaping public perceptions of government policies. This study aims to analyze the critical discourse in news coverage of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program in the mass media using Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis model. The research method employed is qualitative, utilizing documentation and content analysis techniques on three news texts from the online media outlets Kompas.com, Tempo.com, and CNN Indonesia. The analysis focused on macro, superstructure, and micro structures, encompassing semantic, syntactic, stylistic, and rhetorical aspects. The results indicate that all three media outlets tend to portray the government as the dominant and responsible actor in implementing the MBG program, while issues or criticisms regarding the program are presented sparingly and often softened through specific language choices. These findings indicate the presence of power relations and ideology at work in the construction of MBG news discourse. This study is expected to enhance readers’ critical awareness of media texts and encourage more balanced and objective journalistic practices.

Abstract

Stunting masih menjadi masalah kesehatan serius di Indonesia, termasuk di Kabupaten Pandeglang, yang prevalensinya berada di atas target nasional. Faktor penyebab tidak hanya terkait gizi, tetapi juga pola asuh, pengetahuan orang tua, dan keterbatasan akses informasi. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif-kolaboratif yang diikuti oleh 15 guru PAUD IGTKI. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui empat tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelatihan, pendampingan, serta evaluasi-refleksi. Kegiatan utama berupa workshop interaktif yang memadukan reflective learning dengan literasi digital, sehingga peserta tidak hanya menerima materi, tetapi juga berlatih menyusun konten edukatif berbasis pengalaman. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test, post-test, dan refleksi kelompok. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan digital guru PAUD IGTKI. Hal ini menegaskan bahwa kegiatan pendampingan proses pengasuhan (caring) berbantuan platform digital efektif dalam membekali guru dengan kompetensi yang diperlukan untuk menyebarluaskan informasi pencegahan stunting. Program ini dapat menjadi strategi adaptif dalam percepatan penurunan stunting berbasis komunitas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze rhetoric on the social media account @JeromePolin in constructing an educational and inspirational self-image. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data consisted of video uploads, captions, and visual communication on the @JeromePolin account selected purposively. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation, while data analysis used Aristotle’s rhetorical theory consisting of ethos, pathos, and logos. The findings show that the ethos element is reflected through academic credibility, consistency in educational content, and an authentic communication style that strengthens audience trust. The pathos element appears through personal narratives, humor, and motivational messages that create emotional closeness and engagement with audiences, making the communication more relatable and persuasive. Meanwhile, the logos element is demonstrated through logical, systematic, and understandable educational content delivery that helps audiences easily grasp complex information. The integration of these rhetorical elements forms an effective persuasive communication strategy in constructing Jerome Polin’s self-image as an educational and inspirational figure on social media. Overall, the combination of ethos, pathos, and logos shows how digital communication can shape public perception and reinforce the role of social media influencers in promoting educational values in contemporary society.

Abstract

This study examines the lexical and grammatical meanings of news headlines from the November 2025 edition of detik.com, posted on Instagram. The shift from a news site to a social media platform often necessitates adjustments to headlines, which can lead to shifts in meaning. To collect relevant headlines, this study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a listening and note-taking technique. The analysis shows that lexical meaning in headlines is evident through the use of words with basic dictionary meanings, such as names of people, places, objects, and actions. Grammatical meaning is discovered through affixation and reduplication, which can change or add to the meaning of basic words according to the context. These two types of meaning play a crucial role in creating concise, clear headlines that are appropriate for the way news is presented on Instagram. This study concludes that the formation of meaning in headlines on detik.com is influenced by a combination of lexical and grammatical meanings tailored to the communication needs of social media platforms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the ideological contestation within the #MBG discourse on Instagram using Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis model. Social media, particularly Instagram, has become a digital public sphere where narratives of policy legitimation intersect with critical counter-narratives from the public. In this context, the #MBG discourse functions not merely as an informational medium but as a site of meaning struggle that reflects power relations and ideological interests. This research employs a qualitative approach within a critical paradigm. Data consist of Instagram posts containing the hashtag #MBG, selected purposively based on engagement level and issue relevance. The analysis applies Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework: textual analysis, discursive practice, and social practice. The findings reveal a polarization of representations between legitimizing narratives emphasizing policy success, efficiency, and public welfare orientation, and critical narratives highlighting issues of transparency, governance, and potential conflicts of interest. This contestation demonstrates that language in social media operates as an instrument for ideological reproduction and negotiation. The study underscores the importance of critical literacy in interpreting policy discourse within digital spaces to avoid partial and ideologically driven constructions of meaning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the construction of critical discourse against elitism and materialism in the lyrics of Iwan Fals' song "Bento" using Teun A. Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. The CDA approach considers discourse as a social practice that demonstrates the relationship between ideology and power in society. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with text analysis of micro, macro, and superstructure. The results show that the lyrics of the song "Bento" demonstrate a critique of elitism by depicting the character "Bento" as a symbol of an arrogant, exclusive, and alienated elite class. On the other hand, the lexical choices that emphasize material possession as a means of legitimizing social status and power are translated as materialism. The song "Bento" functions not only as a work of art but also as a tool for social criticism that encourages discussion about resistance to materialism and elitism in society
