Abstract

Librarians, both adults and children, have the freedom to determine what collection they want when they are in the library, however, in choosing a collection of library materials, children generally look for collections that have a variety of pictures because according to the children The collection is equipped with various kinds of images which have their own uniqueness. This research aims to:to prove and find out the extent of the influence of book cover design on reading interest in children's collection rooms. This research uses quantitative methods with a correlational research type. Data collection was carried out through observation and distributing questionnaires to 256 children who were members of the children's collection room. The results of the research on the normality test show that there is a relationship between book cover design and children's reading interest in the DPK, East Tanjung Jabung Regency, with the value Pearson Chi-Square on Asymp. Say. (2-sided) is 0.007 < 0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. In the linearity test, it was found that the relationship was linear because the significance value was greater than the significance level, namely 0.499, where 0.499 > 0.05. Hypothesis testing shows that there is a significant influence between book cover design and children's reading interest, with a value of > , namely 9.888 > 1.650. That the influence of book cover design on reading interest is 27.8%, while the remaining 72.2% is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Bibliocrime is a serious crime against library materials and is increasingly widespread in libraries because it can threaten the sustainability of library materials, both caused by children and adult users, especially bibliocrime that occurs at the East Tanjung Jabung Regency Library and Archives Office in the children's collection room. This study aims to examine the role of librarians in tackling bibliocrime in children's collections through educative and preventive approaches at the East Tanjung Jabung Regency Library and Archives Office. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and observations. The results of this study indicate that some of the bibliocrime actions that occurred at the East Tanjung Jabung Regency Library and Archives Office were theft, mutilation, unauthorized borrowing and vandalism. However, the most common acts of bibliocrime are tearing and vandalism. Then, to overcome the problems regarding bibliocrime, librarians apply two approaches, namely the educative approach carried out through user education and giving directions and warnings to users. As for the preventive approach provided by librarians through increased supervision and security, checking systems for borrowing and returning and providing lockers. With this educative and preventive approach, it is hoped that the act of bibliocrime will be reduced and users will have an awareness of the importance of protecting library material collections.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilatar belakangi adanya potensi alam yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat di Pulau Pandan. Salah satu hasil alam yang dapat dikembangkan itu adalah hasil pertanian yaitu produksi buah kelapa. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menambah dan menumbuhkan pengetahuan masyarakat desa pulau pandan pengembangan produk ekonomis dari buah kelapa diproses menjadi keripik. Kegiatan ini akan dilaksanakan di desa Pulau Pandan Kecamatan Limun Kabupaten Sarolangun, Provinsi Jambui. Berdasarkan analisis situasi daerah tersebut terdapat beberapa permasalahan yang muncul, yaitu: 1) Rendahnya tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang buah kelapa yang dapat diolah menjadi produk baru pada skala rumah tangga. 2) Perlu dibangkitkan minat masyarakat untuk meningkatkan nilai konsumsi untuk menambah pendapatan terhadap suatu komoditi, termasuk keripik kelapa. Maka dari itu solusi yang ditawarkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah melakukan sosialisasi serta praktek pembuatan produk ekonomis keripik kelapa yang memiliki nilai jual dan dapat menambah pendapatan ekonomi rumah tangga. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian dimulai dari persiapan, riset pasar dan formulasi produk. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan selama satu hari kepada kelompok PKK yang bertempat di Kantor Desa Pulau Pandan. Pelatihan pembuatan keripik kelapa menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri untuk mempraktekkan sendiri dirumah masing-masing bahkan berniat untuk menjadikannya sebagai inovasi baru dalam menambah produk usaha yang sudah mereka jual. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu PKK di desa Pulau Pandan dalam membuat keripik kelapa.
