Abstract

The aims of this study is to determine the ability of class VIII students at MTs Jamilurrahman As-Salafy Yogyakarta in Arabic. Arabic is one of the main subjects in this madrasah, and the mastery of four Arabic language skills. The four skills are listening (istima'), speaking (kalam), reading (qiroah), and writing (kitabah) are very important in the learning process. The research method used was my research with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through written and oral Arabic tests conducted on students of class VIII. The test results were categorised into several score ranges, and the students' Arabic language skills were analysed based on the predicates obtained. The results showed that most of the students had deficient Arabic language skills, with 48% of the total students being at the predicate of "Deficient". A total of 21% of students got the predicate "Very Good," 19% of students got the predicate "Good," and 12% of students got the predicate "Fair." The study also noted factors that influence students' Arabic language proficiency, including learning methods, textbooks, materials, educational institutions and time. Madrasah Tsanawiyah Jamilurrahman As-Salafy Putri Yogyakarta plays an important role in shaping students' Arabic language skills, but there are challenges in improving overall Arabic language skills. This study provides an understanding of the status of students' Arabic language skills at MTs Jamilurrahman As-Salafy Putri Yogyakarta and shows the importance of developing Arabic language learning at the madrasah.

Abstract

Interest in language has rapidly developed since the 1950s, when Chomsky criticized Skinner's mechanistic approach to language acquisition. Psycholinguistics, which emerged from this debate, studies how humans process language, both in their first and second languages. Understanding language acquisition and speech disorders is a crucial topic as a contribution to the development of therapy methods and teaching techniques that can help individuals overcome difficulties in language and speech, making this field highly significant in both psychology and linguistics. This research examines three main aspects of psycholinguistics: language acquisition, the relationship between language and thought, and speech pathology. Using a literature review, this study highlights how psycholinguistics provides important insights into understanding the factors that affect language acquisition and its implications for language disorders. The findings of this study show that a deep understanding of linguistic processes can help linguists detect language acquisition problems at an early stage and design more effective interventions in language education. The practical implications of this research are highly relevant to the development of language teaching methods and therapy for language disorders, which can enhance individuals' communication skills and support cognitive development لقد تطور الاهتمام باللغة بشكل سريع منذ 1950 سنة، عندما انتقد تشومسكي المنهج الميكانيكي لسكنر في اكتساب اللغة. علم النفسي اللغوي الذي نشأ من هذا النقاش يدرس كيفية معالجة الإنسان للغة، سواء في اللغة الأولى أو الثانية. فهم اكتساب اللغة واعيوب النطق هو موضوع مهم للغاية كإسهام في تطوير أساليب العلاج وتقنيات التدريس التي يمكن أن تساعد الأفراد في التغلب على صعوبات اللغة والنطق، مما يجعل هذا المجال ذا أهمية كبيرة في علوم النفس واللغة. هذه الدراسة تستعرض ثلاثة جوانب رئيسية من علم النفس اللغوي: اكتساب اللغة، علاقة اللغة بالعقل، وعلم أمراض النطق. باستخدام دراسة الأدبيات، تبرز هذه الدراسة كيف يقدم علم النفس اللغوي رؤى هامة لفهم العوامل التي تؤثر على اكتساب اللغة، وكذلك تداعياته على اضطرابات اللغة. تشير نتائج هذه الدراسة إلى أن الفهم العميق للعملية اللغوية يمكن أن يساعد خبراء اللغة في اكتشاف مشاكل اكتساب اللغة في وقت مبكر، وتصميم تدخلات أكثر فعالية في تعليم اللغة. إن التداعيات العملية لهذه الدراسة ذات صلة كبيرة بتطوير أساليب تدريس اللغة وعلاج اضطرابات اللغة، مما يمكن أن يحسن مهارات التواصل لدى الأفراد ويدعم تطورهم المعرفي. Minat terhadap bahasa berkembang pesat sejak tahun 1950-an, ketika Chomsky mengkritik pendekatan mekanistik Skinner terhadap pemerolehan bahasa. Psikolinguistik, yang muncul dari perdebatan ini, mempelajari bagaimana manusia memproses bahasa, baik dalam bahasa pertama maupun kedua. Memahami pemerolehan bahasa dan gangguan bicara merupakan topik krusial sebagai kontribusi terhadap pengembangan metode terapi dan teknik pengajaran yang dapat membantu individu mengatasi kesulitan dalam berbahasa dan berbicara, menjadikan bidang ini sangat penting dalam psikologi dan linguistik. Penelitian ini mengkaji tiga aspek utama dalam psikolinguistik: pemerolehan bahasa, hubungan antara bahasa dan pemikiran, serta patologi bicara. Dengan menggunakan metode tinjauan pustaka, penelitian ini menyoroti bagaimana psikolinguistik memberikan wawasan penting dalam memahami faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi pemerolehan bahasa serta implikasinya terhadap gangguan bahasa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman yang mendalam tentang proses linguistik dapat membantu linguis dalam mendeteksi masalah pemerolehan bahasa sejak dini serta merancang intervensi yang lebih efektif dalam pendidikan bahasa. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini sangat relevan bagi pengembangan metode pengajaran bahasa dan terapi untuk gangguan bahasa, yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi individu serta mendukung perkembangan kognitif.

Abstract

The research focuses on the significant role of Sabaq, Sabqi, and Manzil methods in the Taḥfīẓul Qur’ān learning process. These methods are essential in helping individuals achieve their desired targets in Qur’ān memorization while ensuring consistency. Several educational institutions widely adopt these popular methods. The study's main objectives are twofold: (1) to comprehend how the implementation of Sabaq, Sabqi, and Manzil methods occurs in the Taḥfīẓul Qur’ān learning process at Class V Salafiyah Ula Islamic Centre Bin Baz during the Academic Year 2022/2023, and (2) to determine the effectiveness of these methods in the same setting. The research follows a qualitative approach with data collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The implementation of the Sabaq, Sabqi, and Manzil methods in the Taḥfīẓul Qur’ān learning process comprises five stages: planning and preparation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reflection. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of these methods at Class V Salafiyah Ula Islamic Centre Bin Baz during the Academic Year 2022/2023 is satisfactory. Though some students haven't achieved their targets, the application of these methods has successfully increased students' engagement with the Qur’ān compared to previous approaches. Additionally, the methods contribute to maintaining balanced memorization of both new and previously learned verses of the Qur’ān. In conclusion, the study highlights the crucial role of Sabaq, Sabqi, and Manzil methods in the Taḥfīẓul Qur’ān learning process. The research offers insights into their implementation and effectiveness, providing valuable information for educators and institutions seeking to enhance the memorization of the Qur’ān among their students.

Abstract

This research explores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in elementary education, focusing on its impact on student motivation, academic achievement, and overall learning experiences. Through a comprehensive examination of existing literature, empirical evidence, and qualitative interviews with educators and administrators, this study sheds light on the benefits and challenges of AI integration in educational settings. The findings highlight a positive correlation between AI-based learning methods and student motivation levels, suggesting that technology can engage students in meaningful ways by fostering curiosity, autonomy, and intrinsic motivation in their learning journey. Moreover, significant improvements in students' academic achievement following exposure to AI-enhanced instruction underscore the efficacy of these innovative approaches in facilitating deeper conceptual understanding and mastery of academic content. However, addressing challenges such as equity, inclusion, and ethical considerations requires a multifaceted approach involving ongoing professional development, investments in infrastructure, and the establishment of ethical safeguards. Further research is needed to explore the nuanced dynamics of AI integration in education, including its impact on teacher-student interactions, classroom dynamics, and the broader socio-cultural context. Overall, interdisciplinary collaborations and a commitment to ethical innovation are essential for harnessing the transformative power of AI to create more equitable, inclusive, and effective learning environments for all student.
