Abstract

Cataracts fill the second priority eye disease in the world, it shows that cataract is still an issue that must be resolved. Knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of Indonesian citizens on eye health is still a concern that cause poorer vision impairment. Rate of cataract cases in this study is a bit high. Purpose. To find out the correlation of knowledge levels and attitudes of cataract patients to actions in performing cataract surgery at Konawe Hospital. Research design used was observational analytics with a cross-sectional approach and accidental sampling methods. Result shows that most of the respondents have a good level of knowledge (51.4%), as well as the attitude variable was good (66.4%). Processing data by chi-square test shows analysis test p-value 0.001, it means there is a correlation between the level of knowledge to action in performing surgery. The same results are also shown in the attitude variable with p value 0.000. Therefore, level of knowledge and attitude is an important basis for patients to have, before making a decision to perform cataract surgery. This study has a substantial impact to increase rate of cataract surgery in Konawe’s Hospital.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that often presents without symptoms, leading it to be frequently overlooked despite the risk of serious complications. The prevalence of hypertension, both globally and nationally, has shown a significant increase, including in the coastal areas of Barrang Caddi Island in Makassar, where coastal communities have a habit of consuming high-sodium foods and leading unhealthy lifestyles. The objective of this activity is to improve health literacy and conduct early detection of hypertension risk through blood pressure measurements. The methods used include an initial survey, including superficial interviews with the local community regarding common health issues, followed by blood pressure screening, medical consultations, and interactive health education sessions involving 132 respondents. The examination results showed that the average age of respondents was 47 years, with systolic blood pressure at 127.11 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure at 80.78 mmHg. Of the total number of respondents, 49% of the population were in the pre-hypertension category, 16% in stage I hypertension, and 8% in stage II hypertension. However, improving health literacy remains crucial to prevent respondents from falling into worse categories, underscoring the importance of early promotive and preventive interventions in coastal communities to further reduce hypertension risk.ABSTRAKHipertensi merupakan suatu penyakit tidak menular yang seringkali muncul tanpa gejala sehingga kerap diabaikan meski berisiko menimbulkan komplikasi yang serius.

Abstract

Service quality in public health centers (Puskesmas) plays a crucial role in shaping patient perceptions and behaviors, which in turn influence patient loyalty. In Samarinda City, declines in patient visits and the achievement of Minimum Service Standards (MSS) indicate ongoing challenges in primary healthcare services. This study aims to analyze the effects of perceived value and patient satisfaction on patient loyalty at Puskesmas. Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, the study involved 420 respondents selected through cluster random sampling and convenience sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability and were analyzed using path analysis. The results show that perceived value has a positive and significant effect on patient loyalty (β = 0.2405), while patient satisfaction demonstrates a stronger influence on loyalty (β = 0.3410). In addition, patient satisfaction mediates the relationship between perceived value and loyalty, whereas perceived value acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between satisfaction and loyalty. These findings confirm that patient loyalty is shaped not only by direct effects but also through reciprocal mediating relationships between perceived value and patient satisfaction.

Abstract

In the dynamic post-pandemic healthcare landscape, RPH Haji Makassar faces the dual challenge of transitioning to electronic medical records and optimizing operational efficiency, as reflected by a Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) that has yet to meet national standards. Although nurses play a central role as frontline providers, inefficiencies in care management are frequently observed, indicating the need for an in-depth evaluation of the psychological factors underlying clinical performance. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic work motivation on the performance of staff nurses in the inpatient wards of RPH Haji Makassar in 2025. This study employed a quantitative, cross-sectional design and involved 144 staff nurses as respondents, using a total sampling (census) technique. Primary data were collected using a validated, structured questionnaire, and analysis was conducted using a simple linear regression to test the hypothesis. Empirical findings revealed that the majority of nurses possessed a very high level of work motivation (93.75%), consistently accompanied by a high rate of performance achievement (94.44%). Statistical analysis confirmed a positive and significant effect of work motivation on nurse performance (p-value = 0.001; p < 0.05), with the regression coefficient indicating that strengthening motivation directly contributes to improved service quality. The high motivation of nurses proved to be a primary pillar of service resilience amidst work pressure and the adaptation to new technology; however, a gap remains between excellent individual performance and macro-level organizational efficiency. Work motivation is a vital predictor of nurses’ clinical performance. This study recommends managerial strategies that focus not only on financial incentives but also on strengthening psychosocial support and creating an adaptive work environment to align individual performance with the hospital’s strategic goals.
