Abstract

This research aims to describe students’ ability in writing persuasive text before and after using group discussion method in class VIII students of SMPN 37 Medan. The research method used was experimental with one group pretest postest design. The instruments used were pretest and postest written tests. The results showed that before using the group discussion method, students’ ability in writing persuasive texts was still lacking with an average score 59,37. However, after using the group discussion method, students’ abilities improved to good with an average score of 77,73. Data analysis showed a significant effect of group discussion method on students’ persuasive text writing ability. This is evidenced by the result of statistical calculations that show the normality test of pretest and postest data is normally distributed, the homogeneity test states that the sample is homogeneous, and the hypothesis test rejects H0 and accepts Ha. This research implies that the group discussion method is effective in improving students’ persuasive text writing ability in class VIII of SMPN 37 Medan.

Abstract

The curriculum is a set of plans and arrangements regarding the objectives of the content of learning materials and the methods used as learning guidelines. The Merdeka curriculum has been implemented since the outbreak of Covid-19 which occurred in 2020, which had a negative impact on the learning and education process in Indonesia. The Independent Curriculum has become a major concern in the world of education today. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method which can help to gain an in-depth understanding of the effect of implementing the Merdeka curriculum on increasing student learning achievement. The main aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of implementing the Merdeka curriculum on increasing student learning achievement. The results obtained through this research are that the implementation of the Independent curriculum has a positive influence on increasing student learning achievement with a number of advantages from implementing the Independent curriculum. Thus, this research provides a basis for developing a more effective and relevant curriculum to improve student learning achievement in the future.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini berguna dalam mengetahui tahapan pengembangan materi teks puisi berbasis whiteboard animation untuk anak didik kelas VIII SMP dan mengetahui kelayakan produk yang dihasilkan menggunakan aplikasi whiteboard animation untuk materi puisi berbasis whiteboard animation kelas VIII SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) dengan mengaplikasikan prosedur Borg and Gall dengan langkah analisis potensi dan masalah, mengumpulkan informasi, rancangan produk, validasi desain, dan perbaikan produk. Poin kelayakan dihitung dengan skala likert berdasarkan perolehan validasi pakar materi dan media. Tahapan pengembangan materi diselenggarakan dalam menambah kontribusi dalam pengembangan materi teks laporan observasi yang ada menjadi materi teks laporan observasi yang lebih baik. Hasil riset menggambarkan bahwa produk yang dihasilkan dari studi “Pengembangan Materi Teks puisi Berbasis whiteboard animation untuk Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Bani Adam As” tergolong pada kriteria “Sangat Baik”. Hal ini bersumber pada perolehan validasi pakar materi dengan nilai 95% pada kategori Sangat Baik, nilai kelayakan media senilai 86% pada golongan “sangat baik” dan nilai penilaian guru mata pelajaran sebesar 98% pada kategori “Sangat Baik”. Maka dari itu, produk dinyatakan layak diaplikasikan sewaktu pembelajaran berlangsung.
