Abstract

The development of dairy farming in Nagari Lasi District Canduang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, has provided the materials a massive source of biogas production. The number of cattle in Nagari Lasi has reached around 1000 heads, plus other livestock such as Buffaloes and Goats. The manufacture of digesters in the previous year's Community service activities was a success. It produces biogas and is used for cheese production and household supply. However, the amount of biogas produced is still tiny. To realize "Community-Independent Energy," power generator installation is necessary. The biogas supply must be in large quantities and available continuously for the generator to operate. Biogas currently produced by the digester is insufficient to produce the biogas required by the generator. Therefore, biogas production capacity needs to be improved by expanding the volume of the digester that will be processing cow dung into biogas. Increasing digester capacity has significantly increased biogas production, reaching 12 m3 per day. This amount is enough to be used as fuel for an electric generator continuously.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of knowledge on environmentally friendly entrepreneurial intentions, entrepreneurial behavior, and green products within the palm oil processing industry in West Sumatra. It also examines the impact of entrepreneurial intentions on environmentally friendly entrepreneurial behavior and the effect of entrepreneurial behavior on green products. The study employs a survey method, distributing questionnaires to 14 palm oil processing companies that received PROPER blue, green, or gold rankings for the 2018-2019 period, with a sample size of 112 managers. The data analysis is conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. The findings indicate that the environmental knowledge possessed by palm oil managers positively influences their environmentally friendly intentions, behaviors, and the development of green products. Additionally, entrepreneurial intentions towards environmental friendliness have a significant positive effect on environmentally friendly entrepreneurial behavior in the palm oil industry in West Sumatra

Abstract

The Caribbean region, despite its abundance of tropical agricultural commodities such as mangoes, continues to face challenges in product diversification and value-added processing. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen the productive capacity and economic empowerment of Caribbean communities—particularly small-scale farmers, agroindustry actors, and homemakers—through mango-based product development. Implemented by Politeknik ATI Padang in collaboration with the Non-Aligned Movement Center for South-South Technical Cooperation (NAM-CSSTC), the program was conducted virtually over two days in May 2025 using an integrated explicit–tacit knowledge transfer approach. Explicit knowledge was delivered through structured digital materials and video-based instruction, while tacit knowledge was reinforced through experiential learning, practical assignments, and interactive discussions. A total of 297 participants enrolled for the program, with 30 participants actively engaging through Zoom sessions and 267 participants accessing the training via YouTube livestreaming. The primary outcomes of the program included measurable improvements in participants’ technical competence, production readiness, and sustainability awareness. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants’ average scores from 84.4 (pre-test) to 89.2 (post-test), indicating enhanced understanding of mango jelly processing, packaging, waste utilization, and basic business planning. Moreover, participants successfully demonstrated their ability to independently produce mango jelly and apply organic waste management practices using mango peel residues. Beyond skill acquisition, the program fostered entrepreneurial motivation and promoted the adoption of circular economy principles at the community level. These findings highlight the effectiveness of virtual community empowerment initiatives in achieving tangible capacity-building outcomes and supporting sustainable, resource-based economic development across geographically dispersed regions.
