Abstract

According to the results of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) in 2021, there has been a considerable increase in the number of adult smokers over the past ten years, rising from 60.3 million in 2011 to 69.1 million in 2021, an increase of 8.8 million individuals. This study aims to compare the quality of life between actively smoking students and those who are exposed to passive smoking, examining their physical, psychological, social, and environmental health effects. The study utilized a sample of 100 respondents who completed a questionnaire on cigarette use and the WHOQOL quality of life assessment, covering variables such as cigarette type, disruption in daily activities, desire to quit smoking, cigarette consumption, and attitudes towards smoking bans in public places. Calculation of the WHOQOL score revealed that 60 percent of non-smoking student respondents reported a good quality of life. These findings underscore the critical need for enhanced health awareness programs and stricter smoking regulations within the university to foster a healthier environment. Abstract

Peningkatan konsumsi styrofoam menyebabkan peningkatan limbah non-biodegradable yang mencemari lingkungan. Saccha Box hadir menawarkan produk biodegradable box ramah lingkungan berbahan limbah pelepah pisang dan ampas tebu sebagai pengganti styrofoam ramah lingkungan. Pelepah pisang memiliki kandungan selulosa 83,3 % dan lignin yang rendah 2,97%. Sedangkan ampas tebu memiliki kandungan serat kasar sebesar 43%, serta kandungan ligninnya yang cukup tinggi yaitu 22,09%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangakan biodegradable box menggunakan pelepah pisang dan ampas tebu. Metode yang digunakan adalah pencetakan menggunakan mesin press dengan bahan utama pelepah pisang dan ampas tebu. Biodegradable box yang dihasilkan memiliki potensi untuk menggantikan styrofoam dengan karakteristik unik dan ramah lingkungan. Produk biodegradable box juga mempunyai potensi untuk dipasarkan lebih luas dengan melakukan kerjasama dengan pihak terdekat UMKM untuk meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat. Selain itu pemanfaatan biodegradable box dapat mengurangi sampah styrofoam di lingkungan dan mendukung SDGs poin 12 yaitu, konsumsi dan produksi yang bertanggungjawab.

Abstract

A truly moral human means a quality human being who is involved in life, whether as a citizen, leader or being led. Because to become a complete human being, you must know yourself. In order to create a national generation that is superior and competitive and has the spirit of a good leader, the Community Health Science Service team has taken steps to carry out community service in the form of outreach regarding "SWOT Analysis" to students at Ma'arif Batu Middle School so that it is hoped that students will be able to know their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to himself The implementation method for the "Training Leadership and Critical Mind Through SWOT Analysis in 8th Grade Students at Ma’arif Middle School, Batu City " activity consists of three stages, there are pre-activity devotion, implementation of activity devotion, and post-activity devotion The pre-test and post-test questions consist of 5 questions with multiple choice options. The results of completing the pre-test and post-test for class 8D students at Ma'arif Batu Middle School about SWOT analysis. students'' knowledge increased 27.40% regarding SWOT analysis. This activity also provides benefits for them, namely to recognize internal strengths and weaknesses and understand the organization''s or individual''s external opportunities and threats, so that the organization or individual can anticipate changes in the future, according to their abilities and capacities to achieve their goals.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia's waste continues to grow and will reach 70 million tons by 2023. The e-commerce sector is a major contributor to plastic waste, with 96% of its packaging made from plastic, such as foam. Corncob and banana stem waste have the potential to be environmentally friendly alternatives for foam packaging due to their high cellulose content of 26.81% and 83.3%, respectively. Purpose: To develop biodegradable foam packaging made from corncob and banana stem waste as an environmentally friendly packaging alternative. Method: The study used a Research and Development (R&D) model using the 4D approach (define, design, develop, and disseminate). Results: Expert validation demonstrated product feasibility with an average score of 4.5 for durability, elasticity, and density, and a score of 5.0 for physical structure. Secondary packaging validation also demonstrated excellent results, with scores for attractiveness of 4.5; color contrast of 5.0; product protection of 5.0; and sturdiness of 4.5. These results indicate that biodegradable packing foam has the potential to replace conventional foam, offering characteristics that support product protection and are more environmentally friendly. In addition to its functional potential, this product also offers broad market opportunities through strategic partnerships. Conclusion: The use of biodegradable packing foam is expected to reduce plastic waste, support sustainable waste management efforts, and contribute to achieving SDG 12 on responsible consumption and production.   Keywords: Banana Stems; Biodegradable Packing Foam; Corn Cobs; Sustainable Packaging; Waste.   Background: Tumpukan sampah di Indonesia terus meningkat dan mencapai 70 juta ton pada 2023. Sektor e-commerce menjadi penyumbang besar sampah plastik, dengan 96% kemasannya berbahan plastik seperti foam. Limbah tongkol jagung dan pelepah pisang berpotensi menjadi alternatif packing foam ramah lingkungan karena kandungan selulosanya yang tinggi masing-masing 26,81% dan 83,3%. Tujuan: Untuk mengembangkan biodegradable packing foam berbahan dasar limbah tongkol jagung dan pelepah pisang sebagai alternatif kemasan yang ramah lingkungan. Metode: Penelitian dengan model Research and Development (R&D) menggunakan pendekatan 4D (define, design, develop, dan disseminate). Hasil: Validasi ahli menunjukkan kelayakan produk dengan rata-rata skor 4.5 pada aspek daya tahan, elastisitas, dan kepadatan serta skor 5.0 pada struktur fisik. Validasi kemasan sekunder juga menunjukkan hasil sangat baik dengan nilai daya tarik 4.5; kontras warna 5.0; kemampuan melindungi produk 5.0; dan kekokohan 4.5. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa biodegradable packing foam berpotensi menggantikan foam konvensional dengan karakteristik yang mendukung perlindungan barang dan lebih ramah lingkungan. Selain potensi fungsionalnya, produk ini juga memiliki peluang pasar yang luas melalui kemitraan strategis. Simpulan: Penerapan penggunaan biodegradable packing foam diharapkan dapat mengurangi sampah plastik, mendukung upaya pengelolaan sampah berkelanjutan, dan berkontribusi terhadap pencapaian SDGs poin 12 tentang konsumsi dan produksi yang bertanggung jawab.   Kata Kunci: Biodegradable Packing Foam; Kemasan Berkelanjutan; Limbah; Pelepah Pisang; Tongkol Jagung.

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition in toddlers, particularly stunting, remains a serious health problem in Indonesia. Data from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) showed that 30.8% of toddlers experienced stunting, while 6.2% of babies were born with low birth weight. Causal factors stem not only from economic conditions but also from parents' lack of knowledge about balanced nutrition, appropriate parenting patterns, and the persistence of myths and misconceptions. To address this problem, effective educational media are needed, one of which is through a communicative, visual-based booklet. Purpose: To develop and test the application of a high-impact imagery booklet as a guide to creating balanced nutritional menus for mothers of toddlers. Method: This research and development (R&D) study used the ADDIE model, encompassing the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The pre-experimental research design included a pre-test and post-test on 65 mothers of toddlers. Data analysis was conducted to assess the increase in participants' knowledge regarding child nutrition following the HII-Book intervention. Results: The resulting product, the HII-Book, contains a balanced nutrition guide, sample menus, and engaging illustrations. The trial showed an increase in knowledge among mothers of toddlers, with 57.9% of mothers in the good category before the intervention. After the intervention, the good category increased to 78%. Participants also responded positively to the HII-Book-based outreach activities, nutrition consultations, and cooking demonstrations. Conclusion: The HII-Book educational media has proven effective in increasing mothers of toddlers' knowledge and understanding of balanced nutrition. This program can serve as a reference for public health interventions to prevent stunting and support the implementation of healthier parenting patterns within the family environment.   Keywords: Balanced Nutrition Menu; High Impact Imagery Booklet (HII-Book); Mothers; Toddlers.   Pendahuluan: Kekurangan gizi pada anak balita, khususnya stunting, masih menjadi masalah kesehatan serius di Indonesia. Data Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2018, menunjukkan 30.8% balita mengalami stunting, sementara 6.2% bayi lahir dengan berat badan rendah. Faktor penyebab tidak hanya berasal dari kondisi ekonomi, tetapi juga kurangnya pengetahuan orang tua mengenai gizi seimbang, pola asuh yang tepat, serta masih adanya mitos dan kepercayaan keliru. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, diperlukan media edukasi yang efektif, salah satunya melalui booklet berbasis visual yang komunikatif. Tujuan: Untuk mengembangkan dan menguji penerapan media high impact imagery booklet untuk panduan pembuatan menu gizi seimbang bagi ibu balita. Metode: Penelitian Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE, meliputi tahap Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Desain penelitian pre-eksperimental dilakukan dengan pre-test dan post-test pada 65 ibu balita. Data analisis untuk menilai peningkatan pengetahuan peserta terkait gizi anak setelah intervensi dengan HII-Book. Hasil: Produk yang dihasilkan berupa HII-Book berisi panduan gizi seimbang, menu contoh, dan ilustrasi menarik. Uji coba menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan ibu balita, sebelum intervensi termasuk dalam kategori baik sebesar 57.9%. Setelah intervensi, kategori baik meningkat menjadi 78.%. Respon peserta juga positif terhadap kegiatan sosialisasi, konsultasi gizi, dan demo masak berbasis HII-Book. Simpulan: Media edukasi HII-Book terbukti efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman ibu balita tentang gizi seimbang. Program ini dapat menjadi acuan intervensi kesehatan masyarakat untuk pencegahan stunting serta mendukung penerapan pola asuh yang lebih sehat di lingkungan keluarga.   Kata Kunci: Balita; Ibu; High Impact Imagery Booklet (HII-Book); Menu Gizi Seimbang.

Abstract

Background: The problem of organic waste in landfills, particularly in Malang City, remains a serious challenge in maintaining environmental quality and public health. The volume of waste in Malang City reaches 778.38 tons per day, and it remains unprocessed. The decomposing organic waste produces leachate, which contains hazardous pollutants but also has the potential to be a source of nutrients. Purpose: To develop biophones as an effort to utilize landfill leachate and molasses as a soil rehabilitator. Method: A laboratory experiment was conducted by mixing leachate, molasses, and EM4, which were fermented for 21 days. The resulting fermentation was then tested for nutrient content in the laboratory. Results: The organic carbon (0.89%), nitrogen (0.02%), potassium (0.10%), and pH (5.1) content did not meet the minimum standards for liquid organic fertilizer (POC), but they had considerable potential as soil amendments. The content of microelements, such as manganese (24 ppm), showed a contribution to soil quality. Conclusion: Biofon has the potential to improve soil chemical properties, particularly pH. Further development is recommended, including the addition of carbon-, nitrogen-, and phosphorus-rich materials, as well as application testing on various soil types to ensure its effectiveness and safety.   Keywords: Biofon; Final Disposal Site; Leachate; Molasses; Soil Rehabilitation.   Pendahuluan: Permasalahan sampah organik di Tempat Pembuangan Sampah (TPS), khususnya di Kota Malang masih menjadi tantangan serius dalam menjaga kualitas lingkungan dan kesehatan masyarakat. Jumlah sampah di Kota Malang mencapai 778.38 ton per hari dan tidak terolah setiap harinya. Sampah organik yang membusuk menghasilkan cairan lindi (leachate) yang mengandung bahan pencemar berbahaya, namun juga memiliki potensi sebagai sumber unsur hara.  Tujuan: Untuk mengembangkan biofon sebagai upaya pemanfaatan limbah lindi tempat pembuangan akhir (TPA) dan molase menjadi rehabilitator tanah. Metode: Penelitian eksperimen laboratorium dengan mencampurkan lindi, molase, dan EM4, difermentasi selama 21 hari. Hasil fermentasi kemudian diuji kandungan unsur haranya di laboratorium.  Hasil: Kandungan C-organik (0.89%), nitrogen (0.02%), kalium (0.10%), dan pH (5.1) belum memenuhi standar minimal pupuk organik cair (POC), namun cukup potensial sebagai pembenah tanah. Kandungan unsur mikro seperti mangan (24 ppm) menunjukkan kontribusi terhadap kualitas tanah. Simpulan: Biofon berpotensi memperbaiki sifat kimia tanah, khususnya pH. Pengembangan lanjutan disarankan dengan penambahan bahan kaya karbon, nitrogen, dan fosfor, serta uji aplikatif pada berbagai jenis tanah untuk memastikan efektivitas dan keamanannya.   Kata Kunci: Biofon; Limbah Lindi; Molase; Rehabilitator Tanah; Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA).
