Abstract

Marketing mix analysis in traditional food businesses has become a focus in various previous studies, but research that specifically discusses the implementation of marketing strategies in MSME-scale rengginang businesses in Sidodadi, Kinali Subdistrict, remains limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the marketing mix and its role in the sustainability and development of Mrs. Sisu’s rengginang business in Sidodadi, Kinali Subdistrict. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The main informant of the study was the business owner, selected through the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results show that the implementation of the marketing mix, which includes product, price, place, and promotion, has not been carried out optimally, particularly in the aspects of promotion and the use of digital technology. The rengginang product has good quality and continues to maintain its traditional taste, but pricing and distribution strategies are still limited to the local market. The promotion aspect is the main weakness because digital media have not been utilized optimally. These findings contribute to the development of marketing studies, particularly the concept of the marketing mix in the context of traditional food MSMEs, and broaden understanding of small business adaptation strategies amid market changes. The conclusion of the study emphasizes the importance of optimizing the marketing mix to improve business competitiveness. The practical implication is that MSME actors need to improve digital-based promotional innovation, while the government can strengthen support for the development of traditional food businesses through marketing assistance and expanded market access.

Abstract

Tourism sector development has received attention in various studies because it is considered capable of promoting the economic growth of local communities. However, research specifically examining changes in community income before and after the management of the Lubuak Bulan Waterfall Tourism Destination in Nagari Simpang Kapuak, Mungka Subdistrict, Lima Puluh Kota Regency remains limited. This study aims to analyze community income from the existence of the Lubuak Bulan Waterfall Tourism Destination. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving nine informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and literature study, and were then analyzed using interactive analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the existence of the Lubuak Bulan Waterfall Tourism Destination had an impact on increasing community income through the development of food and beverage businesses, stalls, vehicle parking services, and tour guide services. In addition, the increase in community income was strongly influenced by the number of tourist visits and had not been experienced evenly by all communities around the tourist area. The conclusion of this study affirms that community involvement in tourism management is an important factor in creating a more equitable and sustainable improvement in economic welfare. These findings contribute to the development of studies on community-based tourism and the multiplier effect in the context of local community economies, while also providing practical implications for local governments and tourism managers in formulating more inclusive and sustainable tourism policies.

Abstract

Consumer purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms have received attention in various previous studies. However, studies that specifically analyze the effect of Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM), customer rating, and discounts on the purchasing decisions of communities in rural areas, particularly Nagari Batuhampar, remain limited. This study aims to analyze the effect of E-WOM, customer rating, and discounts on consumer purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms, both partially and simultaneously. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The sample consisted of 97 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had met the validity and reliability tests, and were then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS. The results show that E-WOM (β = 0.403; p = 0.013) and discounts (β = 0.485; p < 0.001) have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, whereas customer rating (β = 0.189; p = 0.188) has no significant effect. Simultaneously, E-WOM, customer rating, and discounts have a significant effect on purchasing decisions. These findings strengthen consumer behavior theory by showing that digital information and promotional strategies are important determinants in shaping purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of optimizing E-WOM and discount strategies in improving consumer purchasing decisions. The implications of this study include theoretical contributions to the development of digital marketing literature as well as practical implications for business actors and e-commerce platform managers in optimizing customer reviews and discount-based promotional strategies. Future research is recommended to expand the research area, increase the number of respondents, and include other variables that may potentially influence purchasing decisions.
