Abstract

Calligraphy is a beautiful and attractive work of art and has Islamic nuances because it comes from Islamic religious knowledge, namely the Qur'an and hadits. Its existence is highly valued because it is an Islamic cultural heritage from ancient times to the present which can still be enjoyed for its beauty. Calligraphy has been widely taught in Islamic-based schools, especially Islamic boarding schools, because it is one of the arts that has a major role and contribution to Islamic education. The purpose of this study is to determine the role and contribution of calligraphy in Islamic education. This study uses the library research method, in which researchers conduct research by collecting data from various literature, including journals, books, theses, and others. The results of the study show that the art of calligraphy has a positive role and contribution in Islamic education, therefore the art of which is not only a medium of expression in Islamic education but also a well known propaganda medium. calligraphy is worthy of being passed on and introduced to Muslim generations for the sake of preserving Islamic culture.

Abstract

Arabic language learning often experiences obstacles, especially in understanding how students’ cognitive and affective aspects affect their ability to acquire, produce, and understand the language. This indicates the need to apply a multidisciplinary approach that can overcome these challenges. This study aims to examine the role of psycholinguistics in the development of Arabic language learning methods, focusing on students’ cognitive and affective aspects. The research approach used is Systematic Review (SR), by analyzing relevant articles from journals indexed through Google Scholar. The results of the study indicate that the application of psycholinguistics plays a crucial role in the development of Arabic language learning by understanding students’ learning processes and designing appropriate curricula and methods. Approaches such as Task-Based Learning (TBL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and Generative Transformative help create more active, communicative, and applicable learning according to students’ needs. In addition, linguistic theories such as structuralism, transformative-generative, and psycholinguistic-based balaghah enable more effective and relevant Arabic language teaching to students’ characteristics and cognitive development.

Abstract

Penerjemahan adalah proses mengalihkan makna suatu bahasa ke bahasa lain yang memerlukan keahlian multidisipliner, termasuk penguasaan semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, dan budaya. Keahlian ini sangat penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab, terutama dalam menerjemahkan teks yang membutuhkan pemahaman mendalam terhadap kaidah bahasa dan konteks budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa SMP IT Addurrah dalam menerjemahkan teks Arab ke bahasa Indonesia dan mengidentifikasi solusi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mereka. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengungkap hambatan utama, seperti keterbatasan kosakata, kesulitan membaca tanpa harakat, pemahaman budaya Arab yang minim, dan perbedaan struktur kalimat. Hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan metode Tamyiz yang menggabungkan Quantum Nahwu-Shorof dan neurolinguistic, serta metode Gramatika Terjemah untuk memperdalam pemahaman kaidah bahasa Arab, dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penerjemahan siswa secara efektif

Abstract

This study aims to identify the problems faced by Grade IX-C students of SMP IT Al-Hijrah Medan in translating Arabic texts into Indonesian, as well as to formulate appropriate alternative solutions to address these issues and potentially improve the students’ translation skills. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation of students’ translation test results. The findings indicate that the problems encountered by students fall into two categories: linguistic and non-linguistic problems. In terms of linguistic aspects, students struggle with limited understanding of Arabic grammar structures, unfamiliarity with reading Arabic texts, a lack of vocabulary mastery, and a tendency to translate texts literally. Meanwhile, the non-linguistic issues include low motivation and interest among students, lack of variety in teaching methods, insufficient practice time, limited learning media, and students’ educational backgrounds. Moreover, the alternative solutions proposed by the researcher as a contingency plan to address these issues include the development of contextual and interactive learning models, the enhancement of teacher competencies alongside the implementation of well-structured instructional strategies, and the gradual habituation of students to text reading and analysis.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are an important foundation for individuals in the modern era. This ability is not only needed at a high level, but also from an early age, including in elementary schools. Unfortunately, its application in elementary schools is still minimal. Assessing the critical thinking skills of 4th grade students in the material of perimeter and area of a square, analyzing its relationship with learning independence, and knowing the level of student understanding of the material. Quantitative research with descriptive and correlational design. A sample of 7 4th grade students was selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and questions. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics. Students' critical thinking skills are still low. There is a significant positive relationship between learning independence and critical thinking skills. Students' level of understanding of the perimeter and area of a square still needs to be improved. Critical thinking skills of 4th grade students in the material of the perimeter and area of a square need to be improved. Efforts to improve students' critical thinking skills need to be made by paying attention to the important role of learning independence. In addition, learning the perimeter and area of a square needs to be designed more effectively to improve students' understanding. These findings provide important implications for educators to: (1) Increase the focus on developing students' critical thinking skills in learning; (2) Integrate aspects of learning independence in learning to support the development of students' critical thinking skills; (3) Design more effective and student-centered learning of the perimeter and area of a square. This research is expected to contribute to the development of mathematics learning in elementary schools, especially in improving students' critical thinking skills and learning independence in square perimeter and area material.
