Abstract

Gratitude is acceptance of one's condition in any condition. This attitude is crucial for Christians to have as a form of respect for God's sovereignty. However, the importance of this attitude is often not found in Christians, especially when experiencing difficult times. One of the reasons is the belief that the blessings given by God are only material things in the form of wealth. This view then influences the gratitude of people who receive God's blessings. To anticipate the formation of this thought pattern, guidance is needed in understanding God's blessings as a whole. This coaching activity is intended to answer this problem. Using research results that have been published regarding God's blessing in Deuteronomy 28:1-14, the implementers carry out coaching using the lecture method. The coaching targets two mutual aid communities in Batam City, OMEFA and Family Batam. The participants were given coaching in four stages to provide a complete understanding of God's various blessings, which are very broad. This coaching is expected to make participants aware of God's blessings apart from material wealth.

Abstract

Abstract: Various digital technologies in the digital era have made it easier for people to carry out their activities. However, despite the immense benefits of using digital technology, it is crucial to acknowledge the potential negative consequences if not used responsibly. In churches, the imprudent use of digital technology often diverts the primary focus of worshippers during worship. Worship focus is no longer centred on God but is switched to digital technology. This is a serious issue that can hinder spiritual growth. Building upon this problem, the author addresses the situation of worship decadence in Israel during the Judges and reflects on Christian worship in the digital era. Using literature studies and narrative interpretation methods, the author will delve into the life of Israel, which once lost its worship focus due to idol worship. This situation can be a reflection of the shifting worship focus due to the misplaced use of technology. This analogy is relevant because it reflects the same primary attention diversion away from God. From these research steps, the author finds that ministers must prepared to be unpopular among the congregation for daring to advise on using digital technology responsibly, Christians must educated not to disrupt the sanctity of worship, and parents must provide understanding and set an example of responsible digital technology use for their family members.

Abstract

Deuteronomy 6:4, widely known as the Shema Israel, is one of the most fundamental confessions of faith in the religious tradition of ancient Israel, affirming the exclusive oneness of YHWH. Although the text has been widely discussed in Indonesian theological scholarship, most existing studies approach it primarily from the standpoint of Christian religious education and family discipleship, while comprehensive treatment that integrates historical-critical inquiry, syntactic-lexical analysis, and contextual theological reflection remains limited. This article aims to fill that gap by analyzing the theological meaning of the Shema Israel in Deuteronomy 6:4 through a historical-critical approach and examining its relevance for Christians today. This study employs a qualitative method with a library-based biblical studies approach, integrating historical-contextual, grammatical-lexical, structural, and theological analysis of the Hebrew text. Data were drawn from primary sources (the Masoretic Hebrew text and its major translations) and secondary sources (lexicons, commentaries, and peer-reviewed theological journals), and were analyzed descriptively-interpretively. The findings show that the key terms shema and echad, together with the text’s tightly structured nominal syntax, express not merely a numerical claim about God’s singularity but an exclusive covenantal claim demanding total obedience. In the context of contemporary Christianity, this oneness of God carries renewed relevance amid secularism, moral relativism, and religious pluralism, which often manifest as subtler forms of idolatry. This study concludes that a proper understanding of the Shema Israel deepens Christian theological self-understanding and shapes an appropriately exclusive yet socially responsible faith commitment in the present context.
