Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini merupakan kerjasama antara prodi Pendidikan Biologi dengan mitra SMKS Bina Insani Malunda. Greenhouse yang dimiliki oleh sekolah belum termanfaatkan dan menjadi kesempatan bagi tim untuk memanfaatkannya dengan mengadakan pelatihan dan pendampingan budidaya melon dengan media polybag menggunakan sistem irigasi drip yang memiliki banyak keunggulan terutama dari aspek ekonomi. Tujuan dan manfaat kegiatan ini selain memberi pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai budidaya melon, juga memberikan wawasan kepada siswa mengenai kesempatan wirausaha yang bisa dihasilkan dari budidaya melon. Metode yang digunakan berupa pemaparan teori lalu dilanjutkan dengan demonstrasi penanaman hingga pendampingan selama tiga bulan sampai melon berbuah dan bisa terus dilanjutkan. Kegiatan pelatihan diikuti oleh 20 siswa dan dilaksanakan di SMKS Bina Insani Malunda, Kabupaten Majene, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat. Rangkaian kegiatan pengabdian berupa pelatihan yang dilakukan berjalan dengan lancar dan hasil evaluasi menunjukkan respons siswa yang sangat baik terhadap kegiatan pengabdian ini.

Abstract

Higher education institutions play a crucial role in preparing biology teacher candidates to be proficient in technological advancements to meet the challenges of 21st-century learning. This study aimed to determine the differences in technology literacy and creative thinking skills among students before and after being taught using an interactive microteaching model that integrated technology and creativity. This quasi-experimental study used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consisted of all the students enrolled in the microteaching course. Using the cluster random sampling technique, two classes (33 students) were selected as the research sample. The instruments used in this research were observation sheets that were used to measure students' technological literacy and creative thinking skills. Descriptive and inferential analyses were used for data analysis (paired t-test). The results showed that all observed indicators of technology literacy and creative thinking skills demonstrated significant improvements from pretest to post-test. Comparative test results using the paired t-test also confirmed that there were significant differences in the technology literacy variables and creative thinking skills among students before and after the implementation of the interactive microteaching model.

Abstract

Plant pests are one of the challenges faced by farmers. These pests are difficult to eradicate and increase production costs due to the many pesticides used. Therefore, this community service program introduced practical and affordable biopesticides. The program was conducted in two sessions, with session 1 being a lecture session and session 2 involving hands-on practice. The methods employed in this program included lectures, training, and discussions. In session 1, 20 participants attended, while session 2 saw an increase to 40 participants. The training covered theoretical materials on the basics of biopesticides, the ingredients, procedures, and mechanisms of action. The practical session involved the biopesticide-making process, which consisted of 6-8% cigarette butts, 25% lemongrass, 10% sugar, 20% EM4, and 1 liter of water. Based on the evaluation results before and after the activity, it was found that all evaluation indicators showed significant improvements in terms of knowledge, skills, interest, and practicality. Therefore, this program has successfully enhanced the participants’ knowledge, skills, and interest in applying biopesticide production in their daily work.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Tondok Bakaru Mamasa dalam konservasi keanekaragaman hayati melalui pendekatan berbasis kearifan lokal. Kegiatan ini merupakan upaya kolaboratif antara Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Universitas Sulawesi Barat dan masyarakat desa untuk melestarikan lingkungan lokal sebagai bagian dari tanggung jawab sosial dan akademik. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2024 s.d. Februari 2025 dan melibatkan 29 peserta masyarakat secara langsung, dengan fokus pada pelatihan berbasis partisipasi. Judul program ini adalah “Pelatihan dan Pendampingan Konservasi Keanekaragaman Hayati Berbasis Kearifan Lokal di Desa Tondok Bakaru”. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa materi yang disampaikan relevan dan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya pelestarian ekosistem lokal. Peserta juga mengapresiasi metode pelatihan yang interaktif dan pendampingan yang intensif sebagai langkah penting menuju pelestarian lingkungan yang berkelanjutan.
