The learning is an interaction process between students and their environment in order to improve good behavior. The results of observation which has been done in grade V SDN No. 4 Tanjung Batu showed that the studentsâ motivation and science achievement were low. This was becaused by the learning process which was still product oriented (based on material content), consequently, this lead to limit the learning is merely on memorizing concept activities. One of the learning approach that can be used to solve this problem is the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based on Numbered Head Together (NHT). This research aims to determine the effect of CTL based on NHT toward studentâs motivation, science achievement, and retention. Subjects in this research were the students of grade V SDN No. 4 Tanjung Batu. This research is a quasi-experimental using post-test only control design. The data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The research instruments were observation sheets and written test. The results showed that there was significant effect of CTL based on NHT toward studentsâ motivation, science achievement, and retention. It can be seen from the independent sample t-test results which showed significant value less than 0.05.

This study aims to determine the increase of motivation and biology student learning outcomes through the implementation of Numbered Head Together (NHT) strategies in setting Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) learning model based Lesson Study (LS). Subjects in this study were students of class X IS 1 MAN 3 Malang. Implementation this study consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis of qualitative and quantitative descriptive statistics. The research instrument used is the observation sheet, test, monitoring LS sheets and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that through the implementation of NHT strategy in setting STAD learning model based LS can improve motivation and learning outcomes biology students. Students motivation in the first cycle of 69% and increased in the second cycle of 86%. While the cognitive learning, classical completeness in the first cycle of 74% and increased in the second cycle to 93%. Affective learning outcomes of students in the first cycle by 93% and increased in the second cycle to 100%. Furthermore, psychomotor learning outcomes of students also increased from 74% in the first cycle to 93% in the second cycle. Keywords: Biology Learning Outcomes, Lesson Study, Motivation, Numbered Head Together, Student Teams Achivement Division.

Efforts to build pro-environment behavior have been strengthened by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through Adiwiyata green school program. This current study aimed at describing the patterns of building pro-environmental behavior among school community of Adiwiyata green school in Malang City. This study was conducted by means of descriptive design. The data were collected using in-depth interview, directed observation, and documentation as well as triangulation. The data were analyzed descriptively by means of content analysis. Hereafter, this study has shown that SMAN 7 Malang was and is running a program of pro-environmental behavior building offered to all school community, to enhance the knowledge, to fossilize the behavior, and to implement pro-environmental behavior, with the concrete support from the school management and teachers. The program was run sustainably and supported by education authorities along with pro-environmental communities. To sum up, the patterns of building pro-environmental behavior involved all the school community, to cover such aspects as knowledge enhancement, behavior fossilizing, and pro-environmental behavior reinforcement through a sustainable collaboration with pro-environmental communities. Therefore, it is suggested that Adiwiyata green school keep intensifying its commitment and be consistent in building sustainable pro-environmental behavior to amplify a long-term memory of its school community.

Scientific Literacy (SL) is an important competency to deal with and keep up with the increasingly sophisticated technological developments. However, information about the SL of prospective gifted young scientists over 15 years old has not been widely revealed holistically. Therefore, this survey research aimed to investigate the SL performance of prospective gifted young scientists holistically and compare the SL performance based on the grade level. A total of 278 students from a public senior high school in Jombang Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia, participated in this research. They were asked to take the SL test with 18 essential question items. As a result, the participants still showed low SL performance (total success rate = 40). The one-way ANOVA test results indicated no significant difference in the participants' SL performance based on the grade level. Therefore, three recommendations were provided: teachers should use various learning models, SL should be an explicit focus in science and non-science classrooms, and schools need to be equipped with supporting facilities to accommodate student readiness to practice SL.

Pendidikan di abad XXI dihadapkan pada era pengetahuan yang membutuhkan berbagai modal intelektual yang perlu dimiliki oleh siswa. Sebuah realita berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilakukan peneliti pada kelas X-IPA 1 MAN 3 Malang memperlihatkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa masih tergolong rendah. Indikator rendahnya hasil belajar biologi tampak dari nilai rata-rata ulangan harian, yaitu lebih dari 70% siswa yang mendapat nilai di bawah Kriteria Belajar Minimum Sekolah yaitu 75. Salah satu cara yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi siswa adalah dengan menerapkan integrasi model pembelajaran Group Investigation dan inkuiri terbimbing berbasis Lesson Study. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor biologi siswa kelas X–IPA 1 MAN 3 Malang. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas berbasis Lesson Study yang dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus, serta melalui tahapan plan, do, dan see. Hasil belajar yang telah dicapai siswa pada siklus I ke siklus II adalah 80,4 meningkat menjadi 90 (hasil belajar kognitif); 93 meningkat menjadi 98 (hasil belajar afektif); dan 98 meningkat menjadi 99 (hasil belajar psikomotor). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar biologi siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II.

Literasi sains secara global bertujuan untuk mempersiapkan warga negara yang bertanggung jawab dan peka terhadap masalah-masalah sekitar (responsible citizenship). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan awal literasi sains mahasiswa pendidikan biologi Universitas Sulawesi Barat. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan biologi Unsulbar yang menempuh semester dua di tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 30 mahasiswa yang ditetapkan secara purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data adalah Scientific Literacy Assessment (SLA) yang dikembangkan oleh Fives et al (2014). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor per aspek literasi sains adalah: (1) Peran sains (role of science), skor 56, kategori kurang baik; (2) Berpikir dan bekerja secara ilmiah (scientific thinking and doing), skor 50, kategori sangat kurang; (3) Sains dan masyarakat (science and society), skor 68, kategori cukup baik; (4) Matematika dalam sains (mathematics and science), skor 45, kategori sangat kurang; (5) Motivasi dan kepercayaan terhadap sains (science motivation and biliefs), skor 76, kategori baik. Secara keseluruhan rerata skor aspek literasi sains mahasiswa adalah 59, dengan kategori kurang. Kata kunci: Literasi Sains, Scientific Literacy Assessment.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendefinisikan kesadaran metakognisi dan pemahaman konsep siswa, serta hubungannya dalam kajian biologi di sekolah tingkat atas. Pelaksanaan penelitian survei ini dilanjutkan dengan analisis korelasi. Kesadaran metakognisi dan pemahaman konsep biologi dalam penelitian ini diukur melalui angket Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) dan soal tes tertulis dalam bentuk uraian. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 64 siswa sekolah tingkat atas di Kabupaten Jombang, Jawa Timur. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rerata skor kesadaran metakognisi siswa sebesar 78, dengan standar deviasi sebesar 5,13. Adapun rerata skor pemahaman konsep biologi siswa sebesar 75, dengan standar deviasi sebesar 6,20. Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat keterkaitan antara kesadaran metakognisi dengan pemahaman konsep siswa pada pembelajaran biologi (p= 0,00 < 0,05), namun kontribusi kesadaran metakognisi terhadap pemahaman konsep biologi hanya sebesar 37,6% (R Square = 0,376). Tindak lanjut dari hasil penelitian ini adalah disarankan untuk menerapkan model pembelajaran yang terintegrasi sebagai alternatif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran metakognisi dan pemahaman konsep siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi di SMA.
