Abstract

Risk management was an effort to identify, prioritize, analyze, and reduce potential risks that could occur to patients, visitors, staff, and organizational assets. With risk management, hospitals could implement more effective decision-making to prevent undesirable events from occurring in providing health services. Rumah Sakit Ibu dan Anak Muslimat Jombang did not yet have an integrated risk management system. Risk recording was done manually, which raised various problems. Therefore, to facilitate data management, a system was needed that could make it easier for hospitals to manage risk management as a basis for decision-making. The aim of this research was to design a hospital risk management information system. The design was carried out using the waterfall method and with UML notation. The programming language used was PHP with the help of the Codeigniter framework, and the database used was MySQL. Testing of this system was carried out using blackbox testing. This information system produced 14 features in 19 menus, and the system could be accessed according to different access conditions. The result of this research was the management of hospital risk management using a hospital risk management information system. This system could be used by all hospitals because it was built based on applicable laws and regulations.

Abstract

Abstract

The main target of the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) regarding health and well-being is to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate to below 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. Preeclampsia is the leading cause of maternal death in 2023. Reducing the Maternal Mortality Rate will not be effective if it relies solely on government programs without support and participation from all parties. The Quality Improvement Collaborative is a form of cooperation among staff, professions, and work units focused on maximizing the use of resources to achieve the shared goal of improving patient care quality. This activity aims to deepen the understanding of the Quality Improvement Collaborative in reducing preeclampsia cases, using a socialization method involving several work units. The community service on Quality Improvement Collaborative to reduce preeclampsia cases was held on January 17, 2025, in two sessions. It used the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach and included three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The evaluation results of the pre-test and post-test using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in knowledge, with a p-value of 0.000. This service effectively increased knowledge, which serves as the main foundation for taking action. Similar activities can be continued by utilizing more innovative media to enhance their effectiveness.

Abstract

Neonatal asphyxia remains a leading cause of neonatal mortality, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Quality Improvement Collaboratives (QICs) have emerged as a structured approach to bridge the gap between evidence-based interventions and clinical practice in neonatal care. This scoping review aimed to systematically map the characteristics, core components, and reported outcomes of QIC frameworks implemented to reduce the incidence of neonatal asphyxia. The review was conducted following the Arksey and O’Malley framework and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A systematic search of seven electronic databases (2016–2025) identified seven eligible studies. Data on QIC components, implementation strategies, and outcomes were extracted and synthesized. The findings indicate that QICs, often incorporating Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles, mentorship, and audit-feedback, were implemented across various LMICs. Core components included interprofessional collaboration, protocol standardization, and real-time data monitoring. Enabling factors such as leadership engagement and effective communication enhanced adherence to care protocols, while workforce shortages and inadequate infrastructure posed barriers. The reviewed studies consistently reported improvements in clinical practices and reductions in neonatal asphyxia or related mortality. QICs are effective in improving neonatal outcomes through structured, team-oriented approaches. For long-term sustainability, they must be integrated into broader health system strengthening initiatives, addressing systemic barriers and securing institutional support.
