Abstract

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of individuals applying their mathematical theoretical knowledge into practice (real situations). The characteristics of a realistic mathematics approach with mathematical literacy skills have the sama relationship and goal, namely that an individual needs to be able to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve problems in everyday life by using and interpreting mathematics in various contexts. The aim of this reseach is to analyze the application of a realistic mathematics learning approach so that students’ mathematical literacy skill, especially at the secondary school level, can improve. This research is a systematic literature review research by searching for article material in the google scholar database indexed by Sinta, Scopus, or originating from proceedings for the results and discussion sections, with problems limited to secondary schools. The result show that by implementing a realistic mathematics education approach mathematical literacy skills can be increased. Meanwhile, during the realistic mathematics education learning process, teacher can choose learning models and learning media by paying attention to the characteristics of RME. Keywords: mathematical literacy, realistic mathematics, human activity, junior high school.

Abstract

Teaching materials are the main component in supporting the learning process. Teaching materials that are adjusted to the characteristics of students' needs can improve students' mathematical skills, one of which is numeracy skills. These skills are very much needed by individuals in the 21st century. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of the needs of teaching materials needed by students so that they can improve their numeracy skills with realistic mathematics learning based on liveworksheets. This research method is quantitative descriptive with data collection using survey results distributed via google form. The survey was conducted on junior high school students in the Cijantung area. The results of the study indicate that the development of teaching materials is needed to improve numeracy skills in these schools with realistic mathematics learning based on liveworksheets.

Abstract

The cognitive and affective abilities needed in this modern era are numeracy literacy and self-regulated learning (SRL). Based on the results of preliminary research conducted at a public junior high school in the Cijantung area on the material of comparison of value and reciprocal value, the three indicators of numeracy literacy were still below 50% and the average percentage of SRL success only reached 45.75%. Students' numeracy literacy and SRL abilities are influenced by the learning resources, media, and learning approaches used. Therefore, it is necessary to develop PMRI-based teaching materials through liveworksheets. The purpose of this study is to produce a product in the form of teaching materials using PMRI-based liveworksheets on the material of comparison of value and reciprocal value. This study was conducted in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample used consisted of 36 seventh grade students. The type of research used was R&D with the ADDIE model. Data analysis used the pre-test post-test control group method which was used to test the effectiveness of the product. The results of the study showed that the developed product was categorized as very valid (93,79%) based on expert assessments consisting of material aspects (89,93%), media (96,44%), and language (95,00%). The developed product was very practical (88,985) based on teacher responses (89,58%) and students (88,68%). Through n-gain calculations, this teaching material was effective in improving numeracy literacy skills to the high category (0,8) but could only improve SRL to the moderate level (0,46).
