Abstract

Aging is a gradual physiological change in an organism that results in senescence or a reduction in biological function and the ability of the organism to respond to metabolic stress. Aging occurs in cells, organs, or the entire organism over time; the study of the aging process seeks to understand and regulate all elements that contribute to an individual's life constraints. The predominant acute consequence of UV radiation on normal human skin is sunburn-induced inflammation (erythema). The overall goal of this study is to examine and test the efficacy of applying an anti-aging cream containing lemon peel extract (Citrus limon) in preventing the aging process of mouse skin. Wistar strain (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to ultraviolet-B light. The specific goal of this study is to investigate the efficacy of applying lemon peel extract (Citrus limon) cream at 5%, 10%, and 15% concentrations in preventing the aging process of rat skin exposed to UV-B radiation.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between soft drink consumption and obesity among adolescents. Obesity, a critical public health issue, has shown a rising prevalence globally, including in Indonesia, due to changes in dietary patterns and lifestyle. The research adopts a cross-sectional design conducted at Santo Thomas 1 Private High School in Medan, involving 198 students categorized into obese and non-obese groups based on Body Mass Index (BMI). The findings reveal that frequent soft drink consumption (more than three times a week) significantly increases the risk of obesity (p = 0.0001). Additionally, low physical activity and excessive caloric intake were identified as major contributing factors. Multivariate analysis highlighted low physical activity as the dominant risk factor for obesity, with an odds ratio of 36.351. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions to reduce soft drink consumption and promote healthier lifestyle choices among adolescents to mitigate the adverse effects of obesity on health outcomes.

Abstract

The lack of socialization carried out by Family Planning Field Extension Workers (FPFE) leads to fear among the community, especially among Couples of Reproductive Age (CRA), in choosing Long-Term Contraception Methods (LTCM). Couples of reproductive age require health education or counseling to help them determine which contraceptive method to use. This study aims to determine the role of PLKB for couples of reproductive age (PUS) in choosing LTCM at Sekerak District Health Center, Aceh Tamiang Regency in 2022. This study is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study was all couples of reproductive age in Sekerak Kanan Village, Sekerak District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, and the research sample consisted of 126 people. Data collection was done directly by distributing questionnaires to couples of reproductive age. Then, it was followed by the process of data analysis using the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. The results showed that there is a relationship between counseling quality in choosing LTCM with a value of (p=0.001; PR=3.4; 95% CI 2.201-5.294), there is a relationship between PLKB barriers in choosing LTCM with a value of (p=0.001; PR=2.2; 95% CI 1.724-3.007), and there is a relationship between FPFE capacity in choosing long-term contraceptive methods with a value of (p=0.001; PR=2.4; 95% CI 1.704-3.472). Furthermore, the dominant factor related to the selection of LTCM is counseling quality with a value of (p=0.000; PR=10.766 95% CI 3.491-33.204). Couples of reproductive age are expected to increase their knowledge, especially about long-term contraceptive methods, and it is hoped that men will not be ashamed to participate in family planning programs.
