Abstract

This study aims to explore the effect of digital transformation on increasing e-commerce effectiveness through the mediating role of partnerships in small businesses in Medan City. This research focuses on digitalization strategies that can strengthen the competitiveness of small businesses in the digital economy era. The originality of the research lies in the quantitative approach that examines the relationship between digital transformation, partnership, and e-commerce effectiveness, which has not been widely studied in the context of small businesses in Medan. The research gap identified is the lack of understanding on how partnership can mediate the impact of digital transformation on e-commerce effectiveness. The method used was a quantitative survey with SEM-PLS technique to analyze data collected from 200 small business owners in 21 sub-districts in Medan. The research findings show that digital transformation has a significant influence on partnerships, but does not directly have a significant effect on e-commerce effectiveness. In addition, partnership does not have a significant mediating role between digital transformation and e-commerce effectiveness. The conclusion of this study is that small businesses in Medan need a more integrated digital strategy and adequate infrastructure support to improve e-commerce effectiveness through stronger partnerships.

Abstract

Carbon taxes have proven to be an effective economic instrument in reducing carbon emissions in countries such as Finland, Sweden and Singapore. These countries have not only succeeded in significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also utilised this policy to encourage the transition to clean energy while creating sustainable economic incentives. However, in Indonesia, the implementation of carbon tax has been delayed several times. This study aims to analyse the factors that cause delays in the implementation of carbon tax in Indonesia and expected to provide practical and applicable recommendations to ensure that the carbon tax can be effectively implemented by 2025. This research uses a qualitative approach. Thematic analysis is used to analyse data by reducing various qualitative data to find relevant and meaningful patterns in accordance with the research objectives. The factors that become obstacles in the implementation of carbon tax in Indonesia are unfinished regulations, readiness of digital infrastructure and technology, company dependence on fossil energy, and consideration of Indonesia's economic conditions. Specifically, the gap in digital monitoring technology still under development in terms of funding and human resources represents a significant barrier, causing Indonesia to lose momentum in integrating a low-carbon economy.

Abstract

Abstract

Fraud detection remains a major challenge in the auditing field, as fraudulent activities are often concealed and difficult to identify directly. Red flags, or early warning indicators, are commonly used as tools to assist in detecting potential fraud. This study aims to analyze the influence of tenure, education level, experience in detecting fraud, and training in fraud detection on the effectiveness of red flags in identifying fraud. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing questionnaires to 42 auditors from 7 Public Accounting Firms (PAFs) located in Medan City. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS software. The results show that tenure does not have a significant effect on the effectiveness of red flags. However, education level, experience in detecting fraud, and training in fraud detection each have a positive and significant influence on the effectiveness of red flags in uncovering fraudulent activities. These findings suggest that enhancing auditors' competencies—particularly through education, relevant experience, and training—plays a crucial role in optimizing the use of red flags as early detection tools in fraud examination.
