Abstract

Since its establishment in 2019, the Indonesia Without Dating Movement has been fervently campaigning against the perceived negative consequences of dating and early marriage, positioning it as an absolute solution. La Ode Munafar, the founder and leader, along with the followers of this movement, appear actively engaged in voicing their opinions on the prohibition of dating through social media. The methodology employed involves content analysis of social media publications and coverage from various online media outlets. Recent developments indicate the emergence of controversial subcultural activism within the Indonesia Without Dating Movement, demonstrating symptoms of religious activism. This research reveals several characteristics of subculture within the Indonesia Without Dating Movement, portraying it as a religious activism group. These characteristics include the diffusion network among movement members, a shared identity, the exchange of distinctive meanings, resistance, and marginalization.

Abstract

Advances This study aims to find out how the millennial generation's self-concept who applies Minimalism Lifestyle uses a communication perspective by looking at how the Millennial Generation of Minimalism Lifestyle actors communicate themselves according to the theory of self-concept and symbolic interaction. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with phenomenological method. The paradigm used in this study is the constructivism paradigm where the researcher sees social conditions as a systematic analysis. Data collection was obtained from observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the internal factors in the formation of the self-concept of the millennial generation of Minimalism Lifestyle actors consisting of self-knowledge, self-expectations and self-evaluation are strongly influenced by the development of information technology. Likewise, external factors in the formation of the self-concept of the millennial generation of Minimalism Lifestyle actors, namely other people and reference groups are also influenced by the development of information technology where Minimalism Lifestyle actors are interconnected with each other in the virtual world. The self-concept that is formed is the characteristic of the self-concept living more functional, responsible, and open to new things. Keywords: Self concept, Minimalism Lifestyle, Millennial

Abstract

This study aims to reveal how the myth of masculinity and the construction of the father's role are represented in Kapal Api's advertisement entitled “Semangat 100% Seorang Ayah” (100% Spirit of a Father). This study uses Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, tracing the meanings formed through visual, verbal, and narrative signs that appear in the advertisement. Data was obtained through literature study and analysis of several images from advertisements uploaded on Kapal Api's official YouTube channel, focusing on symbols that highlight the relationship between masculinity, work, and sacrifice. The results show that the advertisement constructs the image of a father as a hard-working, tough, and responsible figure. This is an ideal image of masculinity that has long existed in Indonesian culture. Coffee serves as a symbol of energy, determination, and zest for life that reinforces patriarchal values of men as the main breadwinners of the family. However, this advertisement also reveals a new layer of meaning by presenting the figure of a warm, loving father who is close to his family. This marks a shift in the representation of masculinity towards a more empathetic and humanistic portrayal. Thus, the Kapal Api advertisement not only reproduces the old myth of men as dominant figures, but also presents a narrative of balance between strength and gentleness. Through strong visual and symbolic strategies, this study confirms that advertisements are an important medium in shaping and negotiating social meanings about the role of fathers and masculine identity amid changes in modern Indonesian cultural values.

Abstract

Keberhasilan kebijakan bergantung pada efektivitas strategi komunikasi advokasi yang diterapkan oleh Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pengaruh strategi komunikasi advokasi Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) Kota Palangka Raya terhadap tingkat kepatuhan masyarakat dalam kebijakan larangan penggunaan kantong plastik sekali pakai. Populasi dalam dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 150 masyarakat Kota Palangka Raya. Penentuan jumlah sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan rumus Krejcie dan Morgan. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei eksplanatori terhadap 108 responen yang dipilih secara purposive sampling dan accidental sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner berbasis teori AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action), sedangkan analisis data menggunakan model regresi linear sederhana melalui SPSS versi 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi advokasi DLH berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kepatuhan masyarakat. Komunikasi advokasi yang baik akan membangun kesadaran ekologis dan mendorong perubahan perilaku masyarakat menuju kepatuhan terhadap kebijakan lingkungan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of hoaxes spread by political buzzers on the perceptions of students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Palangka Raya (FISIP UPR) through the TikTok platform. The study involved a population of 1,018 students (FISIP UPR) with a sample of 110 respondents selected using random sampling techniques. Data was collected through a Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 27. The results showed that the spread of hoaxes by buzzers had a positive and significant effect on students' perceptions (t count = 7.878 sig. = 0.001 < 0.05), with a contribution of 36.5%. The remaining 63.5% was influenced by other factors such as digital literacy and political orientation. These findings confirm the relevance of framing theory, in which buzzers utilize visual, emotional, and narrative framing to shape the perceptions of young users. This study emphasizes the urgency of improving students' digital literacy in order to strengthen their ability to verify information and reduce their vulnerability to politically-based hoaxes on social media.
