Abstract

Online learning is leaning that utilizes online media or the internet in learning. The learning process that is carried out online makes students’ psychological and mental activities trained in the environment, which results in a pile of changes in knowledge and understanding, skills and attitude values. Perception is a point of view or understanding of material or information received during learning activities. This study has four operational definitions, namely online learning, problem-based learning, skills lab, and integration. From the results of this study, it was concluded that students have perceptions of online learning satisfaction because students can study anywhere during the pandemic and can understand the material presented by lecturers. Based on the level of achievement of student respondents, they can take part in online learning without affecting the learning process or behavior.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Academic Health Systems (AHS) integrate healthcare, education, and research to enhance medical training and patient care. However, initiating AHS in institutions without an existing framework presents challenges in aligning stakeholder expectations and organizational structures. Purpose: This study aims to initiate and establish an appropriate AHS model for Ukrida AHS through Project Management (PM) principles and highlight the importance of PM principles in healthcare organizations. Methods: A qualitative research design was employed using semi-structured interviews with six key stakeholders. Thematic analysis identified recurring patterns in stakeholder perceptions, expectations, and challenges regarding AHS implementation. Data triangulation through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) refined the findings. Results: The findings are categorized into three phases: Inquiry, which identified three key themes—stakeholder perceptions of their organization, understanding of AHS, and perceived benefits and challenges; Action, which translated these insights into concrete steps, including goal-setting, developing a Gantt chart, and an AHS model; and Reflection, which assessed the research process and emphasizing the benefits of using PM principles in healthcare organizations. Conclusion: Integrating PM with PAR facilitated AHS initiation at Ukrida, revealing benefits, challenges, and key priorities: leadership alignment, financial sustainability, faculty development, stakeholder collaboration, and data systems to ensure long-term success and scalability.

Abstract

Early Clinical Exposure (ECE) has become an essential component of integrated medical curricula, aiming to bridge the long-standing divide between basic science teaching and clinical practice. This narrative review synthesised fourteen studies published in the past five years to examine the educational rationale, implementation models, and outcomes of ECE for undergraduate medical students. Evidence shows that ECE enhances integration of basic and clinical sciences, strengthens motivation, and supports early professional identity formation. Students also gain confidence and foundational clinical skills when ECE includes structured supervision and opportunities for guided practice. Different implementation models, hospital-based, classroom-integrated, community-based, and hybrid, offer distinct benefits aligned with specific learning mechanisms. However, substantial variability in programme design, supervision quality, and learning environments contributes to inconsistent outcomes. Common barriers include large cohort sizes, limited clinician availability, overcrowded clinical settings, and reliance on brief or observational exposure. These issues highlight a persistent gap between the strong theoretical foundations of ECE and its uneven practical execution. Optimising ECE requires intentional, longitudinal design; structured reflection; adequately prepared supervisors; and alignment with experiential, social, and contextual learning principles. When effectively implemented, ECE can serve as a transformative element of early medical training.
