Abstract

The importance of spreading Islamic religious knowledge through studies and lectures has become a primary focus in efforts to enhance the understanding of the community regarding Islamic teachings. According to data from BPS in 2018, there are more than 200 mosques scattered throughout Banjarmasin City. In addition to mosques, Banjarmasin City also has a significant number of majlis ta'lim. These mosques and majlis ta'lim certainly have various schedules for Islamic studies, ranging from daily, weekly, to monthly schedules. Currently, there is no system in Banjarmasin City that provides information about the scheduling of Islamic studies, making it difficult for the community to find information on where to look for these activities. Besides scheduling information, to facilitate the community in finding the location of Islamic studies, geographical information of each mosque and majlis ta'lim needs to be added as well. The system development method uses Rapid Application Development (RAD), resulting in a web-based system using PHP programming language and Leaflet JavaScript plugin for the geographic information system, with MySQL as the database. It is hoped that this system can help the community find information on Islamic study schedules and easily locate the venues for these activities.

Abstract

This article discusses the visualization of the Ayat al-Kursi (Verse of the Throne) on the pulpit chair in the Quwwatul Islam Mosque in Yogyakarta. The ornamentation of Ayat al-Kursi in the form of a chair signifies that the Quran has entered the realm of aesthetic dimensions. The decorative carving of Ayat al-Kursi displayed by the author is a result of the reception of a fusion between Javanese and Kalimantanese artistry with the Quran. In this context, the author employs Alfred Schlutz's theory to elucidate two phenomena, namely the because motive and the in-order-to motive. The findings of this research are twofold. Firstly, the inclusion of Ayat al-Kursi as an ornament on the pulpit chair is because this verse possesses extraordinary meaning and content, explicating the magnificence of Allah over all of His creations. Secondly, it serves as a reminder to the preachers and congregants to always remember Allah SWT and His omnipotence, as well as to encourage the congregants to frequent the mosque for worship. Thus, the presence of the Ayat al-Kursi ornament on the chair not only signifies aesthetic values but also holds a profound history and encapsulates religious values found within the Quran.

Abstract

Recommendation systems (RS) are vital tools for mitigating information overload and data sparsity challenges in modern e-commerce platforms. This study focuses on developing and evaluating a Collaborative Filtering (CF) model utilizing Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) as a Matrix Factorization technique, applied to the publicly available E-commerce dataset. The dataset, comprising nine interconnected transactional tables, presents significant data sparsity due to limited explicit user ratings relative to the vast product catalog. The SVD model was implemented to decompose the highly sparse User-Item interaction matrix into lower-rank latent factor matrices, thereby capturing underlying purchasing patterns and user preferences. The model's performance was rigorously validated using k-fold cross-validation and assessed via standard accuracy metrics: Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The experimental results demonstrated high predictive accuracy, achieving an RMSE of 1.25 and an MAE of 0.98. These findings indicate that the SVD model effectively overcomes the sparsity challenge inherent in large-scale e-commerce transactional data, providing robust prediction capabilities that surpass established industry benchmarks (e.g., RMSE » 1.31, MAE » 1.04 found in similar studies). The successful implementation validates SVD as a highly effective approach for generating personalized, high-quality product recommendations, offering substantial business implications for enhancing customer engagement and maximizing Average Order Value (AOV)
