Abstract

This study aims to determine the science process skills in groups on stoichiometry material. This type of research uses a descriptive method. The subjects in this study were all students of SMA Pusri Palembang Class XI who studied chemistry in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The data analysis technique used quantitative descriptive. The results showed that of the 7 aspects of science process skills in stoichiometry material, there were three aspects that had the highest average values, namely observing 82%, measuring 80% and experimenting 81%. While the aspect that was classified as quite low was prediction skills at 63%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the results of the analysis of students' science process skills in stoichiometry material as a whole with a value of 76% in the good category. This shows that the mastery of science process skills possessed by students is in accordance with the indicators that have been formulated previously. So that students are able to apply scientific theory knowledge in practice in the laboratory which includes observing, classifying, concluding, predicting, conducting experiments, and communicating.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the science process skills of student groups through solubility and solubility product practicums at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique. The subjects of the study consisted of 6 groups of students with 5 to 6 members each, so that the total number of participants was 34 students. This study used a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Data were collected using observation sheets that referred to seven aspects of science process skills, namely observing, measuring, classifying, concluding, predicting, experimenting, and communicating. Data analysis was carried out descriptively by calculating the percentage of achievement of each aspect of science process skills. The results of this study indicate that the science process skills of the student group are in the very good category for the aspects of observing, measuring, concluding, predicting, and communicating, and the good category for the aspects of classifying and experimenting. The average achievement of science process skills reached 87.5%, indicating that this practicum is effective in improving students' understanding of the concept of solubility and scientific skills.

Abstract

Advances in artificial intelligence technologies, such as ChatGPT, provide new opportunities for learning Organic Chemistry, a subject noted for its abstract and complex concepts. The purpose of this study is to investigate students' impressions of using ChatGPT as a learning tool for mastering Organic Chemistry subjects. This descriptive quantitative study included 87 Chemistry Education Study Program students from Sriwijaya University's Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. A Likert-scale survey was used to obtain data on frequency of usage, perception of use, perception of utility, prompt effort, and ethical awareness when using ChatGPT. The results revealed that 98.9% had used ChatGPT to learn Organic Chemistry; 74% thought ChatGPT was successful in promoting understanding of the content; and 72% recognized the efficiency of learning time. Thematic study revealed that ChatGPT aided in the smooth exposition of difficult concepts such as stereochemistry and chemical processes. However, 59% believed that the explanations' accuracy required further scientific validation. Respondents acknowledged the possibility of conceptualization errors if ChatGPT was utilized without lecturer guidance or evaluation of scientific sources. These findings support ChatGPT's potential as an adaptable and relevant Organic Chemistry learning tool for achieving 21st-century demands such as critical thinking and problem solving. Additional study recommendations include integrating ChatGPT into organic chemistry learning models and media.

Abstract

This study aims to characterize students’ sustainability awareness in the context of chemistry learning at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara and to provide a basis for developing worksheets aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A quantitative descriptive design was employed with a sample of 34 grade XII students selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument was a 36-item sustainability awareness questionnaire adapted from Kelfina et al. (2025), encompassing three dimensions: behavioral and attitudinal awareness, emotional awareness, and awareness of sustainability practices. Data were analyzed using mean scores and percentage distributions. The results show that students’ sustainability awareness was generally high, with an overall mean score of 82.33%. Each dimension also demonstrated high levels of awareness: 82.67% for behavioral and attitudinal awareness, 82.67% for emotional awareness, and 81.67% for awareness of sustainability practices. These findings suggest that chemistry learning particularly topics such as corrosion, green chemistry, and chemical bonding supports the development of students’ conceptual understanding, emotional engagement, and sustainable practices in daily life. Overall, the study provides an empirical foundation for developing chemistry worksheets integrated with the SDGs to further strengthen students’ sustainability awareness
