Abstract

Typically, practical laboratory activities employ teaching media such as phantoms or props. Due to the increased demand for borrowing and utilization of laboratory equipment, as well as the presence of nursing laboratory standards, the Educational Laboratory Staff (PLP) is compelled to devise innovative solutions to address the shortage of instruments. One such solution is the Basic Life Support (BHD) phantom. The study aimed to create a straightforward Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) model for Basic Life Support (BHD) training, utilizing manikin displays and indicator lights. The tool fabrication process began with rudimentary materials yet yielded comparable advantages to commercially available tools, enhancing the efficacy of practical tasks in laboratory experiments, research endeavors, and community outreach initiatives. The research employed the Research and Development Study approach and was conducted in the D3 Nursing Study Program laboratory at Poltekkes Kemenkes Tanjungpinang. The research process consisted of three distinct stages: tool design and assembly, trial phase, and tool acceptance or feasibility testing. The findings of this study demonstrated that the straightforward BHD phantom was deemed practical and suitable as an instructional tool in BHD training, specifically for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).   Future researchers must advance the development of this straightforward BHD phantom learning media to enhance the current prototype.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Sengatan, Hewan Laut, Berbisa, Kegawatdaruratan ABSTRACT The six pillars of health transformation in health services that demand that they can be carried out are in line with the 18 health center programs, one of which is efforts to handle emergencies in accidents, including handling the sting of venomous marine animals. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the marine tribe community in the working area of the Berakit Health Center, Bintan Regency in Handling the Consequences of Venomous Marine Animal Stings. The method of Community Service is in the form of counseling and demonstration of making vinegar solutions in handling the sting of venomous marine animals in 25 marine tribal communities. The results of the service showed a change in the knowledge of the Marine Tribe community about handling emergencies due to stings from venomous marine animals from an average score of 60.6 to 80, as well as an increase in skills in making a 1:4 vinegar solution to 100%. This Community Service activity can increase knowledge and skills in handling emergencies due to stings from venomous marine animals so that it can be applied when going to sea both for yourself and your family. Keywords: Stings, Marine Animals, Venomous, Emergencies

Abstract

Tailors are at high risk of occupational accidents, hypertension, and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to prolonged static sitting postures, extended working hours, and unhealthy lifestyles. These conditions negatively affect both productivity and occupational health. This community service program aimed to improve tailors’ knowledge and awareness of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) through interactive education. The methods included counseling, pre-test and post-test assessments, and evaluation of program success indicators covering OSH application, work behavior awareness, and healthy lifestyle practices. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores, with the mean rising from 5.4 in the pre-test to 9.5 in the post-test, a difference of +4.1 points. Program evaluation revealed high achievement in OSH implementation (100%), work awareness (100%), program benefits (100%), and healthy lifestyle awareness (90%). This program proved effective in enhancing tailors’ capacity to understand and apply OSH principles, thereby potentially reducing the risks of occupational accidents, MSDs, and hypertension. In conclusion, the Program of OSH education and provision is a crucial strategy to create a healthier, safer, and more productive working environment for tailors.
