Abstract

Background: Cholesterol and triglycerides above the normal limit, expressed as hyperlipidemia, have a prevalence that increases with age. An unhealthy lifestyle and rarely exercising are the main causes of hyperlipidemia. Objective: The study aims to determine the level of knowledge and compliance with the use of cholesterol medication at the Mulyorejo Community Health Center, Sunggal District. Method: Research uses quantitative descriptive methods. Quantitative descriptive is a measurement whose data is in measurable numbers. Collection of primary data from questionnaires distributed to respondents determined by random sampling. Benefits: Research can be used as evaluation material in the use of anti-cholesterol drugs at the Mulyorejo Community Health Center, Sunggal District. Results: The study obtained from the 50 respondents studied had good knowledge and were compliant with using cholesterol medication, respectively 51.0 and 53.2%; gender, age, education, and occupation are dominated respectively by women (66.0%), 40 -55 years (64%), high school (46%), and employees (30%). Conclusion: This research proves that the community at the Mulyorejo Community Health Center, Sunggal District, has good knowledge and compliance with the percentage of respondents being 51.0 and 53.2% respectively.

Abstract

Background: Inflammation often occurs in the community in the joints, its prevalence in the world is around 11.9 million. The prevalence in high-income countries is around 1.3 million, while in low-income countries it reaches 5.9 million, Southeast Asia has 4.4 million. Objective: The study was directed to test the anti-inflation effect of EDSK. Method: The method causes oedema of the soles of the test animals through carrageenan induction. The EDSK test as an anti-inflammatory was used by 25 animals distributed in 5 groups; one positive and one negative control, and 3 treatments each of SND, CMC, SEDSK1, SEDSK2, SEDSK3. Results: The percentage of inflammation in the five groups decreased continuously starting from the first hour to the 6th hour after carrageenan induction. The largest percentage of inflammation occurred at the 2nd hour in CMC, followed by SEDSK1, SEDSK2, SEDSK3 and SND. The greatest percent inhibition was SND, followed by SEDSK3, SEDSK2, and SEDSK1. The best inhibition was on SEDSK3 after SND, followed by SEDSK2, and SEDSK1.Conclusion: Research provides information that the SEDSK1, SEDSK2, and SEDSK3 groups have potential anti-inflammatory agents.

Abstract

Pregnancy changes that result in looseness and instability of joints in the third trimester of pregnancy often cause lower back pain in mothers. This certainly disturbs the mother's discomfort and causes anxiety. Progressive muscle relaxation is a combination of deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation techniques by stretching and relaxing the muscles systematically. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on lower back pain and anxiety in primigravida pregnancies. This study used all experiments with a pretest-posttest controlled group design for primigravida pregnant women with a gestational age of 28-36 weeks at the Misriah Galang Clinic as many as 28 respondents. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. There were two groups in this study, namely the intervention group with progressive muscle relaxation and the control group. The research instruments used were VAS (Visual Analog Scale), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and questionnaires. Data analysis used was the dependent t-test and independent t-test to measure pain intensity and the Wilcoxon test with Mann Whitney to measure anxiety. There was a difference in the intensity of pain and anxiety before and after the progressive muscle relaxation intervention with a value of p = 0.001 and 0.004. The percentage of pain reduction after the intervention was 45.71%. There was a difference in the average pain and anxiety after the intervention between the control and intervention groups with a value of p = 0.000; p = 0.002. Progressive muscle relaxation has been proven effective in reducing the intensity of lower back pain and anxiety. Obstetric practitioners can apply this method to pregnant women who experience lower back pain and anxiety. The progressive muscle relaxation method can be used as material in Complementary Therapy in Pregnancy to develop obstetric science.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major public health problem with a prevalence that continues to increase both globally and nationally. This condition is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it usually presents without symptoms yet may lead to severe complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Data from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) revealed that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia reached 34.1% among individuals aged ≥18 years, showing an increase compared to 2013. One contributing risk factor is excessive sodium intake that exceeds daily recommendations, combined with poor nutritional knowledge influencing individual dietary behaviors. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach to analyze the association between sodium intake and nutritional knowledge with the incidence of hypertension among inpatients at Harapan Insan Sendawar General Hospital. The study population included all elderly patients aged over 60 years (n = 36), selected through total sampling. Primary data were collected via interviews using a semi-FFQ questionnaire and blood pressure measurements, while secondary data were obtained from hospital records. Findings showed that most respondents were over 60 years old (61.1%), had high sodium intake (80.5%), and low nutritional knowledge (72.2%). The prevalence of hypertension among respondents was remarkably high at 94.4%. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant association between sodium intake and hypertension (p = 0.010), as well as between nutritional knowledge and hypertension (p = 0.032). In conclusion, high sodium consumption and low nutritional knowledge significantly contribute to the incidence of hypertension among elderly patients. These findings highlight the importance of nutrition education and sodium intake control as preventive strategies for hypertension.
