Abstract

In 2024, sustainable tourism will become the main focus of the global tourism industry, especially in preserving marine nature that is vulnerable to environmental damage. Marine tourism, such as diving and snorkeling, is increasingly popular, but also poses a threat to marine ecosystems. These tourism activities have had serious impacts on coral reefs, fish populations, and seawater quality. Therefore, a collaborative strategy is needed between tourists and the industry to create a balanced positive impact. The tourism industry is required to introduce environmentally friendly tourism practices, while tourists need to be educated to be aware of the impact of their activities on the environment. This study aims to identify the role of tourists and industry in preserving the ocean through sustainable tourism practices in Indonesia. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to examine scientific studies and relevant practices in sustainable marine tourism management. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that collaboration between tourists, industry, and government can increase the effectiveness of marine conservation. On the other hand, there are challenges related to implementation costs, as well as public understanding of the importance of a healthy marine ecosystem. Therefore, increasing public awareness and strong policy support are important to ensure the sustainability of the tourism sector and the sustainability of the marine environment in Indonesia.

Abstract

Madasari Beach is one of the beaches located in Pangandaran Regency, West Java. The development of campervans is currently very popular globally and internationally, especially after the pandemic. This means the purpose of the research is to develop a campervan ground site at Madasari Beach. This research uses a qualitative research approach with an exploratory descriptive research type. Data collection techniques that use observation, interviews, documents, and archives. Analyzed with an interactive analysis model where activities in qualitative data analysis are carried out interactively and continuously until completion. This research uses QGIS, AutoCAD, and SketchUp in planning the development of campervan ground tourist attractions, and designs the development of the existing campervan ground tourist attraction area by not changing the state of the field too much. In the design, some things such as existing vegetation around, existing roads in related tourist attractions, and main roads leading to or passing through related tourist attractions are maintained. This research concludes that there are several things to consider, such as community participation, user comfort, and natural preservation that are considered. However, there needs to be further research related to tourist attractions, especially based on the point of view of tourism attraction management.

Abstract

Indonesia's vast underwater cultural heritage—comprising shipwrecks, submerged trade routes, and relics of maritime history—represents a unique but underutilised asset within the country's sustainable tourism agenda. This study examines the development of heritage dive tourism in Indonesia, utilising a Value Chain Analysis (VCA) framework to assess how value is created, distributed, and constrained across the sector. Drawing on qualitative data from case studies in the Gaspar Strait, Banda Sea, and North Sulawesi, the research identifies structural gaps in legal protection, site infrastructure, stakeholder coordination, and interpretive engagement. Despite these challenges, emerging community-based initiatives demonstrate the potential for inclusive, conservation-oriented tourism models. Key leverage points were found in the areas of heritage interpretation, community formalisation, and digital promotion. The results underscore the need for an integrated governance model that incorporates local participation at every level of the tourism value chain and aligns with the principles of the Blue Economy. This study presents a strategic framework for promoting sustainable, culturally rich marine tourism in emerging maritime economies by utilizing the VCA approach to examine underwater cultural heritage.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: E-Katalog, Ekowisata, Human Centered Design (HCD), Pulau Pramuka.ABSTRACTSmiling Coral Indonesia is an organization actively in developing marine conservation integrated with ecotourism activities on Pramuka Island. To disseminate information about these activities, Smiling Coral Indonesia requires a promotional medium in the form of a systematically organized and visually appealing catalog for prospective tourists. This study aims to identify the preferences of tourists and tourism managers regarding aspects of the previous e-catalog that need improvement as the foundation for the next design innovation. After collecting these preferences, the new e-catalog was developed using a Human-Centered Design approach as an updated promotional tool for Smiling Coral Indonesia’s ecotourism activities. Abstract

Nusa Penida has rich marine ecosystems, such as coral reefs and mangroves, which are residents' main source of income through fisheries, seaweed cultivation, and tourism. Land use change in Jungut Batu Village, Nusa Lembongan, has implications for the environment and economy in the coastal area of Nusa Penida. This study uses secondary data and Google Earth software to analyze changes in the area. From 2009 to 2020, significant changes occurred from seaweed cultivation to tourism land and back to seaweed cultivation during the pandemic. This analysis reflects the evolving economic dynamics and environmental impacts. The transformation from cultivated land to a marine ecotourism destination demonstrates an evolution in approaches to sustainable land use. However, the negative impacts of mass tourism highlight the need for a shift towards environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism. Collaboration between communities, tourism actors, government, and continued research is key in developing an effective and sustainable ecotourism model for Nusa Penida.
