Abstract

Background: Chronic renal failure is a decrease in kidney function to maintain metabolism and electrolytes. One of the treatments for chronic renal failure is hemodialysis, one of the complications after hemodialysis is uremic pruritus. Uremic pruritus is an uncomfortable sensation or itching in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. Research method: The type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design of two groups pretest and posttest, the number of samples was 30 respondents with random sampling technique, the measuring instrument for the uremic pruritus scale used NRS. Results: A total of 30 respondents were divided into two intervention groups and a control group. Where the intervention group was given stroking massage and olive oil twice a week and the duration of the action was 7 minutes. While the control group was only given pharmacological therapy. From the results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Test on the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group, it was found that the P value = 0.000 which means P value ? ? (0.05). While the results of the Wilcoxon Test in the control group found that the P value = 0.014 which means P value ? ? (0.05). The results of the Mann Whitney Test comparing the post-test of the experimental group and the control group showed that the P value = 0.009 then the P value ? ? (0.05). Conclusion: From the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an effect of giving stroking massage and olive oil on reducing the scale of uremic pruritus in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Sultan Imanudin Hospital, Pangkalan Bun. Abstract

Desain penelitian : quasi exsperimental two group pretest and posttest design, teknik simple random sampling, sampel 50 responden.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition where blood pressure exceeds normal limits, namely systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mmHg on repeated examinations. Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is caused by abnormalities in the blood arteries, preventing oxygen and nutrients from reaching the body's tissues. As an alternative treatment, the combination of Benson relaxation therapy and lavender aromatherapy has similarities in the mechanism of action, as seen in how the Benson relaxation technique works, namely focusing on specific words or sentences that are repeated repeatedly with a regular rhythm accompanied by an attitude of surrender to God Almighty while drawing deep breaths. While lavender aromatherapy works on both the physical and emotional levels, it can also help to lower anxiety, high blood pressure, heart rate, and stress. Lavender also stimulates the production of the hormones melatonin and serotonin. Aromatherapy can be used in a variety of methods, such as steam, inhalation, and compresses. Purpose : the aim of this study was to determine whether there is a combination effect of Benson relaxation therapy and lavender aromatherapy on reducing blood pressure in elderly hypertension at Madurejo Public Health Center in Pangkalan Bun. Methods: This type of quasi-experimental research used a one-group pre-test and post-test design with a sample of 30 respondents and purposive sampling. Blood pressure measurement using a tensimeter and an observation sheet using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed that the blood pressure of hypertension sufferers pre-tested in category 1 was mild at 33.3%, moderate at 56.7%, and severe at 10.0%. The results of the level of type 2 diabetes mellitus post-test were in the good category (83.7%) and sufficient (16.3%). The Wilcoxon test results obtained a p value of 0.000. Conclusion: There is an effect of a combination of Benson relaxation therapy and lavender aromatherapy on reducing blood pressure in elderly hypertension at Madurejo Public Health Center, Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan.

Objective: The aim of this study was to reduce death anxiety in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis Results: There is a difference in DAS (death anxiety scale) before and after the intervention. The results of the study using the Mann-Whitney statistical analysis test showed a difference in the Death Anxiety Scale (DAS) with a P value of 0.000 between the intervention group and the control group after treatment.. Conclusions : Spiritual group therapy is effective in reducing DAS levels in patients with chronicrenal failure undergoing hemodialysis. In accordance with the purpose of providing group spiritual therapy, the mechanism for reducing anxiety by involving patients with chronic kidney disease includes discussion sessions where patients can encourage each other, exchange information, and pray together, thereby helping to alleviate the mental burden that causes anxiety.

Abstract

Emotional mental disorders in individuals with hypertension can worsen their physical condition and reduce the success of their treatment. Effective interventions are needed to address emotional mental disorders in hypertension patients. One non-pharmacological method that has been studied is the combination of Benson relaxation techniques and peppermint aromatherapy. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effects of Benson relaxation and peppermint aromatherapy on emotional and mental disorders in hypertension patients. Method: This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group. A total of 30 hypertension patients with emotional mental disorders were selected through random sampling and divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention consisted of Benson relaxation techniques and peppermint aromatherapy. Measurements were conducted using the SRQ-20 questionnaire to evaluate emotional mental disorders before and after the intervention. Data analysis included paired-sample T-tests to compare pre-test and post-test results, as well as Mann-Whitney tests for comparisons between the intervention and control groups. Results: The study results showed that Benson relaxation and peppermint aromatherapy were significantly effective in reducing emotional mental disorders in hypertension patients, with a P value = 0.001 (P ≤ 0.05). There was a significant difference between the intervention and control groups, with the intervention group demonstrating better results in reducing emotional mental disorders. Conclusions: This study concludes that Benson relaxation and peppermint aromatherapy are significantly effective in reducing emotional mental disorders in hypertension patients. This intervention can serve as a potential non-pharmacological approach and complement conventional medical treatments, offering holistic benefits in hypertension management.
